Sports for handicapped children

Are there any agencies or organizations that provide a sport outlet to children with autism, down syndrome, and other developmental delays? Perhaps in Warren and Morris county

Contact Celebrate the Children - a school in Denville

I know they have horseback riding programs and swimming programs for their students. They also probably have other resources to share with you.

My nephews compete in the Special Olympics all year long. There are all sorts of events and activities offered.

Here is the link for the NJ chapter:

I was just going to suggest the NJ Special Olympics as Greg posted it already. Here is the contact info for the local training program for Morris/Warren/Sussex Counties.

D.A.W.N. in Hackettstown has activities for teens and young adults. Also try ARC in Washington, NJ, warren cty. They have activities.

I also suggest contacting Kevin Guyette at Warren ARC. Abilities of NW NJ is another resource even if its not necessarily sports. An even more generalized resource would be Sarah Brelvi at United Way. They have many contacts at various organizations. They can find something sports specific if that's what you need.

MCARP Morris county adaptive recreation program. They have teams and tournaments in many sports. All of my clients greatly enjoyed this program!

My Daughter plays sports with physical challenge kids.
The group is called north jersey navigators and I love it.
They do swimming, archery, track and field. We travel to Bayonne
But it's worth every mile. There is some swimming with the arc
And also try the Easter seals regarding summer programs they are great
With that. If your child is not in school try the YMCA they offer
A few hours of swimming on Wednesdays.

The Miracle League (baseball) has a facility and league in Northampton county, PA, just past Easton(about 45-50 min. From Hackettstown). There may be one closer in NJ.
