Samsung HD TV turning off and on - anyone else have this problem??

I have a Samsung HD TV that has been great for about two years, and now began turning off and on by itself. I unplugged it all day, and when I plugged it back in, the red light blinks off and on, but it won't power on.

I did some searching on You Tube, and found not only is it a common problem, but there was a class action lawsuit in 2012.

My son just had his birthday, and received a new game and game card device he is so excited to try, and now no TV!

I was wondering if anyone knows a reliable service place, and or would they give you a lender? Just wondering with no school, and no TV! Well, you know.

Appreciate any help. Thanks!

I had the same thing happen. Went on utube and got instructions on how to fix it. Looked up the power board that it needed. And fixed it myself Got the part on amazon for $125. Sure beat the $400 the repair shops charged. Works great now. You just need a good screwdriver and patience. Good luck

Does the sources you found say it is a fixable problem?

Unfortunately most tvs now are throwaways, if it is LCD it might be the bulb or something that is replaceable. Your best bet would be to research it and see if you can buy the part on ebay or someplace similar, otherwise a new TV may be in your future.

do some Samsung searching - maybe you are entitled to something (new?) as per the class action

Thanks! I'll take all of your advice!

Had same thing happen. Called Samsung, they came out after giving them the serial number and fixed it....was a very smooth process since my machine had the bad board in it. My guess is your machine has bad board as well. Call them...they do stand behind the product.

We have a 55 inch Samsung flat screen from 2010. The big problem we were having with it was the flickering picture. A well known problem and fix! I snipped a particular jumper cable on the power supply board myself and everything was fine. Amazing!
