HHS Boys Soccer Teams

HHS Boys Soccer Teams

Starting a new soccer season for the high school. Looking forward to a good year. Varsity looks good (excellent passing) and JV as well. Mixed results on the preseason games. I think Tuesday has some more scrimmages both boys and girls.

As far as the Freshman team is concerned, several new to the sport and low player numbers (12 ?) , also some inexperience with the Freshman all these factors will be a challenge. That said, it is hugely important to work with the JV and Freshman (Which H-Town does) Some of these players will be Varsity in the future and need the experience. I guess you can say that about all HS teams.

More updates to come. Any parents who are on the team who want to contribute? Don't look at this a bragging and swagging, look at it as "here is what he has done and can contribute to the team!"

Hackettstown has a marvelous soccer tradition, including that 2001 state championship, that was very memorable.

That was a real TEAM ... no singular go-to scorer, just a bunch of guys who played the game right.

Andy your spot on. That is, in my humble opinion what makes a team great. No superstars just a bunch of fellas that work as a team. I have seen this first hand with my son's team. Talent sure but the chemistry and grace under pressure is what wins games. Look at Brazil as a case in point, Super stars but the results of the World Cup state otherwise.

Boys JV and Varsity both Posted wins against Wallkill Valley. Great effort by the teams.

JV won 5-1

Varsity won 2-0 a lot of crisp passing and aggressive play

Congrats to the teams on their season opener!

Looks like the Boys are on a roll. Varsity is undefeated after 8 games and JV is 8-1. They look strong compared to their competition.

Preseason for Boys Varsity Soccer was excellent defeating, Parsippany Hills, Gov. Livingston, North Plainfield and West Morris. The regular season is equally successful currently 9-0-1 with only 2 goals allowed all season. The JV has been equally successful they are currently undefeated as well. Varsity starts the Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex Tournament on 10/7 another test for the team since this puts much larger schools into the competition.

does anyone know what happened at warren hills Thursday? a friend told me a coach hit a ref during a high school game. then supposedly the facility manager let the coach pull the players into a post-game discussion, instead of escorting the coach off the field. the friend said it was at a soccer game there. don't know who was involved. and when I tried to search online, I couldn't find anything. was my friend pulling my leg??

Celtic,if you could keep us posted on up coming games and results that would be great. Consider yourself the local sports beat reporter as no local paper covers H-town sportsanymore.
