Seaside Heights

Before you say "why do you want to go there?"...I grew up going to Seaside Heights and havent been in years. I love the boardwalk and like to play the games. I also like the night atmosphere.

Anyway..Im looking for a motel very close to the beach/ boardwalk, within a few blocks. The place I used to stay is no longer there. I just want to go for a few nights. Any recommendations?

We always stay at the Charlroy. It is in Seaside Park two hotels away from the Sawmill. Nice family hotel. No loud parties. Owner lives on premises. Wonderful staff. Clean.

Re: Seaside Heights

Ask Snookie. ;-)

Seriously, I have no idea. Haven't been there since the late '80s. Have fun though.

I would recommend looking at Trip Advisor. You'll get honest reviews and ratings of hotels in the area. I don't go to the Jersey shore, so can't give any personal recommendations.

All I recommend is a hotel with tile floors and not carpet.

I got soooooo sick the past summer from the mold.

I love the Seaside Heights boardwalk but probably wouldn't get a motel there... of course, I've been spoiled because my friend rents a house about 1/2 a block from the beach in Lavallette, which is 5-10 minutes north of there.

I'll be there for a weekend in July and we always go down to Seaside to grab some pizza and walk around. I like the crowd and the atmosphere better than Point Pleasant.

Wind Jammer.. here is the link to their website. I have no complaints. The are located in Seaside Park. http://www.windjammermotorinn.com/

Too funny Calico.. I so wanted to post that last night, but didn't want anyone to feel that I was being a "mean girl".

We stay at the Windjammer or Island Beach Motor Lodge. The windjammer has cocktail hour 3 - 7 with free food.

My family goes down every October to Seaside Heights. We stay at the Sunburst Hotel and have always had a positive experience.

been there every year for the past 10. I have no problem with it.

I'm sure prices went up when Jersey Shore became a hit. I haven't been down there since 2008.

Wait, people that live in Jersey still go to Sleazyside?! C'mon guys, we all should know better by now!

I have relatives who live in Seaside Heights 1 block from the boardwalk. They,ve owned a few games on the boardwalk for many years. They tell me the place isn't what it used to be. The motels have section 8 people living in them to get by. They also tell me that during prom time it's so bad. Hopefully you aren't going during that time. Good luck. Personally I just like to visit the boardwalk.

It amazes me that the same parents who went running down to the High School to stand outside during the recent lockdown are some of the same parents who allow their kids to go down to Seaside after the Prom.

BLD2, those same parents will be helping to take care of a baby 9 months later. LOL...

I don't know about you, but I was one of those kids that was allowed to go to the Shore after Prom. We stayed in a hotel in Sleazeside, got one of our cars towed, because it wasn't registered at the hotel. We even had a couple of drinks. Those are memories of a lifetime that we still laugh about today. I even managed NOT to get pregnant on Prom Night and have my parents help raise a baby 9 months later contrary. Not all kids are irresponsible Metsman.

I went to Seaside after Prom and never got pregnant and allowing my daughter to go also BUT she does not want to. Go figure!

We still go to Seaside at least once a year to visit the Bars (Sawmill for shore pie and beer), EJ's ($2 pints), Klees (ultimate old mans bar), and to play the quarter slots at the Coin Castle. My parents owned a house on the last street before Island Beach Park entrance and spent entire summers there. But alas, as everything else, Seaside changed big time and not for the better.

Sorry, but I don't agree with kids under 18 going half a state away without adult supervision. All it takes is one bad apple in a group to make a fun trip into one that could be life altering.

JrzyGirl88 - My point is that the Seaside cops have a zero tolerance policy because of all the crap that goes on down there after prom. So even if your child is responsible and not partaking of the the illegal activities but happens to be in the vicinity they will be swept up with everyone else and they have the potential to have a record/be raped/drugged/beaten up, ect. ect.. My problem is with the parents who go on and on about how much they love their children and how important it is to protect them and then are in complete denial about the dangers of letting their children go down to Seaside after prom.

If you want to send your kid that's your prerogative but then don't be running to the High School during a lockdown because you're so worried about your child's safety.

That's funny BLD2. People are worried when cops have the scene locked down and secure, but then let their kids go to a slumhole where anything can happen.

BLD my response was more to point out that you can go down the shore after Prom (a right of passage) so to speak and NOT get pregnant as was suggested. I certainly wasnt criticising your post, I was just speaking of my own experiences.

that was my old hang out. yes I loved it too, stayed at the thunderbird motel on the boardwalk & watched this ski lift full of people take you from one end of the boardwalk to the other end all in the air. think it was called the tran. it was great if you were looking for somebody, bad when the wind blew, the sand hurt your face & it always stop in mid air. I wonder if that's there anymore? wow what memories

Of all the times I hung out here, I never got pregnant either!

And the "Tran" is still there. It starts right by EJ's!

Stay in Seaside Park. Use the SSP Beach. Shower. Drive or walk to Seaside Heights. Eat, Drink, Play. Go back to Seaside Park.

Been doing that for years. SSP is very clean and family friendly.
