My hubby and son saw it... they loved it. Heath Ledger made the movie according to them. My hubby wants to see it again.

Saw it last night. Very good, but very long. Ledger played a great Joker, but overall the entire movie was amazing...even with a little political commentary tossed in for fun.

Saw it over the weekend with my husband. We both really liked it. It's very dark, and I agree Heath Ledger made the movie. His character was disturbed for sure! It was more violent then the first Batman, from what I remember. It was 2 hours and 30 minutes..so it is long, but we didn't mind.

Great great great film. Nolan has done a great job creating a "serious" film from a comic character. The revelation of Harvey post accident? Awesome.

One neat thing I'm going to mention and do so spoiler free...
Pay attention to the Joker's speech when he's in the hospital and how he appeals to the different sides of the character(s) he might be speaking too. He appeals to a "happier" side and a "not-so-happier" side.

It was great. It is the bar by which all other superhero movies will be measured. Obviously at its core, it's an action movie. In that regard, it also gives action film directors something to strive for.

I don't want to spoil too much of the movie but the acting is superb. While Ledger delivers a very, very, very good, I do think a lot of hype is due to his death and not necessarily the performance. In all fairness, all of the actors delivered great performances. Where Ledger excelled is that I simply say the Joker on screen and very rarely saw any hint of Ledger or previous characters that he's known for.

Gary Oldman delivers an incredible performance. Rent "The Professional". Oldman's range of acting skills is amazing when you compare his pyschotic bad cop in The Professional to his performance in The Dark Knight. Oldman has a very large role in this movie and his performance delivers immensely.

At 2.5 hours, it is long but it never once felt long or dragged out. It is going to be very tough to build on this when Batman 3 comes out.

I should add that I am/was a huge comic book fan. The Dark Knight is every bit of what the Frank Miller renditions of Batman. It really puts the Burton/Schumacher films to shame.

Please, don't put the Burton films in the same sentence as Schumacher's crap.

emaxxman, I really couldn't agree more. I loved the Burton series but this is SO much better. Say what you will about Ledger, but Christian Bale is Batman in a way that Keaton and Kilmer and especially Clooney just couldn't pull off. There's also none of that sense of cartoonishness that the previous movies just couldn't avoid at times (apparently they were unable to completely eliminate that awful TV show from their minds, lol).

Bale really is an extraordinary actor, if not the model son and brother (allegedly, of course). Check him out in American Psycho and The Machinist... you won't be disappointed.

IMAX is the way to go! Well worth the trip to Lincoln Square in NYC. I actually got a little nauseous when Batman dives off a building. That's how intense it is on the giant high resolution screen! Awesome movie!

Jenn, thanks so much for the Becky's drive-in info... took the wife last night. It was her first drive-in experience (she's ten years younger than I am and missed out on drive-ins growing up) and she absolutely loved it. Had to see Dark Knight again because I'm not big into musicals (Mamma Mia was on the other screen) but it was definitely worth seeing again.

a little off topic but there is an imax at the palisades mall which may be a little closer and cheaper to go to (less toll at the TZB and free parking since it's at the mall)

i love movies... and Dark Knight is the best of all time for me. better than gladiator, last samurai, godfather 2, shawshank redemption, and all the other good movies i love. Dark Knight should sweep all the awards this year. the writing, the acting, and the producation is the best of the industry. it touches on morality, philosophy, politics, love... awesome awesome awesome. it's not just a summer flick but a true work of art.

Re: has anyone seen the dark knight?EXCELLENT movie but NOT for kids! Unbelievable to me when I saw how many little kids were in my sold out show at 10:30 last Sunday. By the looks of them, they were anywhere from ages 5 - 10. They had NO CLUE what was happening (the story was pretty intense and would be hard for a young mind to follow) plus it was just too dark and scary for them. Several of the kids fell asleep and carried out by their parents. C'mon parents - it's not a family movie! It's PG-13 ONLY because they agreed to leave the blood out!

Just came home from seeing DK with my 16yr old daughter. WOW! edge of your seat intensity. Great movie I agree not for kids under 13. My 11 year old wants to see it but not going to let him. I don't think we will be seeing this one on FX Tv anytime soon.
