Pottery anyone

Does anyone do pottery in the area of H'town? I have a studio in my house with kiln and wheels and looking for someone to chat with for ideas, shows etc. or to collaborate with.

I am very interested in pottery. I have taken classes 2 x before. I had to quit due to moves. Do you offer any instruction? Are you willing to fire pieces for a charge? I have a million questions and very interested in getting back into pottery. Can't wait to hear back from you. Please feel free to email me also. Where are you kath?

I love anything to do with clay sculpture and wish I could still do it! I've gone to places with wheels but feel very young compared to the other people around me. Know of any places that have clay available to do the wheel/slab or tall coil pots or sculptures? I'm definitely interested!

Kath - I'd been interested in this for a long time and could never find a place. Where are you and how much would you charge for a class?

Hi guys - this is great thanks for getting back to me. I live in Vienna, grew up in H'town so I consider myself a Hackettstownian. I have a studio, per se, in my garage - two wheels, two kilns a slab roller more tools than I should have and some molds for hand building. I have a hand extruder but intend to get a wall extruder soon. I use stoneware clay, white clay both fired at cone 6 and a low fire paper clay which is a lot of fun for handbuilding because it is so versatile. I like making my own glazes but also buy some from Ceramic Supply in Lodi. I belong to the NJ Potters Guild - pottersguildnj.org and often will do shows with them. I haven't done show in a while because my daughter got married and things were a little crazy around here. I have one commissioned piece (believe it or not in the ladies bathroom) at Cloves Restaraunt in Budd Lake and have participated in a "demonstration/show" at Art Across the River in Columbia. I will be doing a workshop for children tomorrow at the Warren County Library from 1 - 4:30, stop by if you can. If not please email me .... hope to hear from you soon

I don't have a schedule for fees as of yet - I am not sure if I want this to be rigid routine for classes or having something that is more for fun and pay as you go. I think it will depend on what you are all looking for. Let's talk contact me via email.

I used to LOVE to do pottery in high school! I still have some vases that I made--I love them!!

I'll trade sewing lesson time for pottery time-- want to barter?

This is kind of off-topic, but still related...I'm looking for a place to go and let my young daughter paint some plates or mugs or something. Anyone know of any places around here?

SusieQ - I have access to some bisque pieces if you are interested. You would just have to tell me what you are looking to do. There is also a place in Easton if you can't get in to Washington. However, I would reccomend the Pottery Zone also. Are you looking for a place to take your daughter for structured instruction or are you just looking for a craft project?

Kath,

I'm assuming your above response was meant for Htown Resident, right?

I would be looking for day or evening, building on the wheel, and probably intermediate to advanced classes after a little "refresher."

Htown Resident and EB

Plaster funhouse is no longer in Hastings Square.

There is a Color me Mine in Denville that provides a painting / firing experience - haven't tried them, but looks like fun.

You may also want to look at Cooks and Crafts in Flanders (on 206 across from Golf Zone). I believe they also have ceramics for painting and can support parties if someone is interested.

Htown Resident - Michaels has some cups and things that can be painted on - how old is the child? Sometimes they even have scheduled classes for kids that are fun - one day project. I actually did a few there myself and it was fun because it was a completed in a day project. But I know for a fact Michaels has some figurines and things that can be painted
