Golden Skillet

Just saw it yesterday... how long has the sign been upside down? I am guessing it got hit by a truck or something

I noticed that last Wed. when we went to the free concert. I think it actually looks kind of funky :)

I meant to ask about that place! How is the food there? My husband and I have thought of checking it out, but haven't had a chance yet...

I like Golden Skillet. Love their chicken, like the ribs and hot dogs-and of course, the Stewart's root beer!

The sign with the writing below that says something about making you flip...I just assumed trying to be funny.

LOL My husband and used to go to Golden Skillet 30 years ago when we lived in Mansfield Village and the chicken was great back then. Good to hear it still is. I guess we'll have to try it again soon.

I didn't even notice the board below last week. My favorite phrase that they had on their board was a few years back. It said, "Our Chicken is Poultry in Motion" I got a good chuckle out of that one :)

The guy who runs it is a heck of a nice guy. I just don't know how they stay in business besides it being a great location. I would suggest going inside because there is a little history in that place.

The chicken is actually quite good...a little expensive but crisp with good flavor. KFC is crispier but is so greasy you feel like you need a Lipitor when done eating. Plus, it may be me, but the employees at KFC must be some of the slowest, brain-dead employees I've ever met. I used to work (and then managed) a family owned fried chicken store in high school and college. It's not rocket science.

I also wonder how Golden Skillet stays in business. You never see any customers and they close pretty early. I guess they're saving money by keeping the 60's decor.

:-)

I prefer their chicken over KFC or Boston Market. You get nice size portions and the french fries are the best. Addictive. Everything is make with peanut oil, so watch out anyone with a peanut allergy.

Sign is very funny. Underneath it says, You will flip for our chicken. Very clever. Got everyone's attention.

I really don't believe they use any peanut oil as their son is highly allergic.
