Donde esta El Coyote?

Question: El Coyote in Netcong was reported to be "on vacation" until July 14th on this website. The sign on the door at the restaurant confirms this. Yet...as of right now, they are still not open. Does anyone have the scoop on this?

Hopefully they won't be going the way of the former Cattleman's Steak house, which did the same thing before they closed and were later sold to become Nick's Lounge(?). They are within a mile or so of each other. Nick's is now closed just as Cattleman's was. I hope El Coyote will be back soon!

There is still a sign on the door that says they will reopen 7/14. Obviously something is going on. I always thought the place was decent (considering the gen'l lack of mexican food in the area). But it might be time or an overhaul. Dont' get me wrong, nothing wrong with a dive but from the outside the place is really looking sad. Didn't seem like they were doing any remodeling.

Funny story about El Coyote, years ago me and friend went there for dinner. We ordered some appetizers and our meal and a few minutes later the waitress brings over some chips and a mexican cheese dip. We both sample it and think, how nice they give this to you while you're waiting for your food. No sooner said and the waitress came over and said " you didn't order that, I gave it to the wrong table". With that she took it away and brought it over to another table and gave it to them, after we both ate out of it. We both just sat there with our jaws dropped in amazemen, LOL

Damn, El Coyote was on our "to hit" list for a couple years and it seems like it will never happen. Now we are going to try Fresco's before it is too late :)

Bad news. I just heard the bad news about this place. Apparently, when the owners came back from vacation, they were greeted by a state trooper that refused them entry and put a lock on the door.

Unfortunately, the guy that handled the books for the owners neglected to pay the state sales tax since they opened, so the state closed the place down. The taxes owed are about $50G and the owner doesn't have that, so the place may be on the auction block soon. I really hope it doesn't come to that!

They've been there for about 20 years, but it had a change of owners at least once. Probably the bad accounting started then.

Darn! I really liked it there. The homemade margaritas and sangria rocked!

That's a shame. I loved going to El Coyote. Not that the food was great, but the place was a lot of fun. I loved their sangria...spent many a Cinco De Mayo there.

All that moaning you hear isn't a ghost... it's the last guy to eat there. Mexican food has that effect on some people.

This is a shame if it is closed. The food was very good, and the staff was exceptional.

Diane, If you see this, try and get in touch with us. We wonder how you are doing
