Fotografen Kaffeeklatsch #2 - Wednesday AM 2/22
So far we have available for tomorrow morning, Wednesday, 2/22:
Chris
3wb
alpha1beta
Rebecka
3wb - I believe you have to leave by early afternoon, so can we do 11am?
As per Chris's suggestion: it will be beautiful weather out, so we will be outside, and this will be a shooting get-together. (Yay! I feel like it's been too long since I picked up my camera. I miss being away on a photo tour and shooting for 6 hours a day.)
This get-together is open to photographers of all levels. Do not hesitate to "sign up" here.
Now open for suggestions:
-- Where to meet and what to shoot? --
Beach - just join us at noon. We'll def. still be shooting.
How about... and I'm just puttinng this out there, so feel free to throw this idea out with the wind... we meet at Field of Dreams, and photograph each other. To practice our portrait work?
Obviously, the images that we take of each other would not be for the forum or any other public site, because most of us like to maintain our privacy (unless of course the person in the image agrees). They would just be for us. And we would all get some cool images of ourselves, in different styles.
Thoughts?
I know I could use an image of myself for my website. Everyone is probably like - "she probably has three heads, at least. That's why there's not a picture of her!" I would definitely be willing to put "image courtesy of..." and the photographer's name, if whomever was willing to contribute an image.
Riverfront Park is another option. That has paths in the woods and paved paths like Field of Dreams.
I could join you if it's at noon - I'm assisting a class until 11:30 out in Frelingheysen (sp?) : )
What a great idea! I have need photos of myself too. I'm always behind the camera - my kids albums are going to look like they were motherless, lol ~ : )
Either way, this is so great. I can feel the excitement bubbling up and wish you all a great day and happy photographing!
. . is that even a word? lol
Or should we do a town shoot? Just thought of that. Main Street in the background?
I have some good spots I haven't shot at yet, but they will be better if it wasn't so muddy.
Riverfront Park is right off Willow Grove Street.

So where is there something special, Mr. Alpha? ;-) We're listening. Come up with something brilliant, please.
Right in town, Im not really sure?
Local but not exactly close:
Sunfish pond (requires a hike)
Ken Lockwood gorge
The mill in Clinton
Closer:
Union Cemetery and the bridge there is cool
Waterloo (Lets not...)
Saxon falls?
Don't know if you can climb buck hill really...
Schooleys mt (the little creek and such, it seems its a park)
I agree Riverpark not really much there IMO but that's almost a challenge to see if you can find things to photograph
Waterloo was creepy but at the same time very interesting and think you should all experience it.
Chester is very nice but that's because I like old windows, doors, and door knobs
Sunfish pond is at least an hour hike to the top. However, if you are thinking of going up that way take the last exit in NJ on rt 80 beautiful frozen waterfalls
Chris check your email. I have another idea. Alpha stay tuned - I like your ideas...
What about some places that were featured in Weird NJ...I would be super jealous that i can't go with you guys and would never be brave enough to go on my own

OK this one not sure I could do even with a bunch of people but pretty cool

Nosila: We don't need to "experience" waterloo anymore ;)
Last exit is old mine road, and its amazing.
Greystone is pretty offlimits from what I hear. Lovely Gov Chrisitie is gonna have it destroyed this year though...
What a truly fun walk! It was good to meet you alpha and beach comber. Alpha - I think we all breathed a sign of relief when you didn't break a leg scaling one of the barns or the silo. How did you process the film so quickly? Do you do it yourself - or take it to a local developing place?
As a huge bonus, I have so many nice pics of myself by some very talented photogs. I'm not going to be able to decide which to put on my website. Thank you, guys!
I would love to do this type of thing every week! Once again, I got some great tips... and a nice camera "adjustment." (Thanks Chris. Glad that button could be put to use. lol)
Great job, everybody! Thanks, alpha, for this great location. Definitely going back. with high heels.
Chris,
Where did you guys take pictures at? That's a cool old farm. Is this on 206 in Andover?
Rebecka: that one is digital. I always carry an Olympus Stylus Tough 6020 with me. Shot about 50/50 split between that and film today. No DSLR (yet) so film for the more artistic shots, and digital for anything im iffy about. Usually I shoot the same shots with digital then film so I have a better idea of how it will come out. Film is reserved for the better shots and small depths of field that a point and shoot just can't manage.
For film I go to to snapfish, takes about a week and a half for prints, digital online within a week. Cheap too.
I have processed black and white in school and someday hope to be able to do it myself. There's a pretty awesome camera shop in clinton that sells everything needed...oh how i need a job
I go a little crazy and scale stuff, trying for different and hard to reach angle. I've taken more than a few pictures hanging off the sides of mountains. There's a reason I went for the stylus *tough* over any other camera, it needs to be able to take a beating
alpha, that little camera shop in clinton is hiring. they needed someone to do prints as of 3 weeks ago.
Nutty: it appeared to be part of Allamuchy state park. Right on 517 where 653 splits off
We just sorta fooled around today for the most part. Chris has some awesome gear...*jealous*
I'll start a thread for next one/next set of ideas.
Nosila, that first link you posted, we have hiked there and it's really nice. Just so you know, if you park under that Viaduct in Hainesburg and go up from there, the climb is SUPER steep. I am not kidding! And when you get to the top of the Viaduct there is a chain-link fence there to keep people out. Luckily the local kids like to party there, so that fence is often modified in such a way as to be passable ;)
If you continue walking until you're on another bridge over the Delaware, that's where it gets even better. If you go, have fun!
