How Old Are You H-Lifers?
On the Memories for the 50's and 60's thread, age was bantered about by various posters. I'm curious, what ages are we?
I'll start, I'm 54!
Only because everyone I meet and tell them my age...they do not believe me...
I am 71- my hubby is 81
45, but I forget I'm not 35, except on days I feel like I'm 70! If that makes sense.
Am 63 and trying to get in mindset to retire. I'm told I don't look 63 (what should 63 look like?)
I'm 43 and Horatio is the the same. He's actually 9 weeks older and I don't let him forget it. ;-)
Calico,
You definitely wear 43 well! I'm 38 and thought you were closer to my age :)
Metsman and Pepper Cat - were you grads of HHS? I am 30, so we may have gone to high school together.
This is my 15th anniversary of my 35th birthday! Did not want to say th enumber! UGG. I am older than Bergey by almost 2 years.
Hi Millie!
Happy Birthday jsemom!
Ees, I was 39 for many years! My daughter is now 33, so I had to move up. The gig was up when my daughter's friend said, "Hey, weren't you 39 for a couple birthdays now?" With three grandkids, 39 (and fake 39 for a spell!), is getting to be a pleasant distant memory!
We have such a nice range of ages!
i am old enough to know better and young enough to still use it
actually i should be older than i am right now, but i got sick for a couple of years
Wow!! Mindy's Mom...you told me Sunday I did not look my age...well, you sure don't either!!! We must be drinking the right water here in good ol" Hackettstown..
PepperCat & CR37 - I graduated from MOHS in '96, even smaller world ;)
I'm going to be 34 on March 6th.
Nosila: You're not happy with 27?!! Do you want to be older? You can't possibly want to be younger.
Yes younger 24 or 25ish please!!!
I feel much much older that's for sure. I think seeing where my friends are too makes me feel much older too
Not an answer, JIT. Nosila thinks 27 is old. joyful, copygirl, Longhorn and I are hovering (egad!) around 70. So fess up. Where are you exactly?
26, but most of the time I feel older:). Although, I did get carded a few weeks ago for sitting at the bar although I was only drinking water, so I must look younger?
Nosila: much younger and you'll be back in college paying someone while you do work. I don't think you want that :)
So lets see in their 20's so far
Me
ComputerSharp
Nosila
Happy Homemaker
sunshinenj
shoebie
AppCinnTea is the youngest so far
Joyful's DH is the oldest at 81, but out of the people who posted its longhorn at 73 (for now-happy early birthday)
32 and love my age, have accomplished so much and life is always getting better!
I don't usually like telling my age, but after my choking episode, I am happy
to still be 55!
@Susan..puts a new spin on things, doesn't it. I was at a wedding shower a few months ago and someone there had the same experience. No one even realized what was happening until someone finally noticed..very scary indeed.
Slade i don't mean it to be, just doing a recap for anyone like me who was trying to figure it all out.
I'm 43 and my mind is the sharpest it has ever been. But 2 months ago, in order to loose the blubber, I decided to use the treadmill. I felt like I was 18. But I'm not and I developed SI Disorder. It feels like I cracked my ass.
The joys of getting older:-( Oye vey....
There is another poster who beats us all in age...but I am not at liberty to give a name..Trust me.,... Cbel and Longhorn..we are not the oldest of the HL posters!
Oh Joyful you remember! But then you always did have a good memorary as well as other great attributes.
Im 61 will be 62 in May. I feel preety good as I can still bike, hike, swim waterski and tube from a boat.
Based only upon the current set of responses, the average age for Hackettstown Life is just over 46 years. The median is 47. I would provide the histogram, but it is beyond boring.
I am darn right average for here then, 46 in two weeks-
Sometimes I like being average- only because the rest of life seems to border on the extremes!
I am 30! CR37 - when did you graduate HHS.. we may have gone to school together at the same time... oh wait...
Pepper Cat- Before I got married I used to live with a few MOHS people. Do you know the Visicaros? They are my neighbors now in PV.
Katievits24 I may or may not have been in your Spanish 4/Spanish 5 hybrid class. I also may or may not quasi stalk you on Pinterest.
I am in my thirties chronologically. Physically, sometimes I am 18, other days 81. ;)
Mentally, I am forever young.
CR37- Totally forgot about Spanish class! That's hilarious!! That class was a mess. We were annexed to the library. Mrs. Barron was a wonderful woman though.
How about all of those basketball games in the HMS gym?
I honestly got the impression, from reading all these posts, that the posters on here were a lot younger then the average. More like 30's.
Me 45! UGH!
67-where did all those years go to. Tried to get away with 66, but my kids made me subtract 1944 from 2011 :)
4 Paws...Be proud. many our age did not reach it this far..I had a bad health scare a few years ago that I survived and it made me really appreciate each day I am here on this earth. This is the prime of my life. I feel good, I am retired, I can do whatever I want to do, whenever I want to do and I thank God every day for these Blessings.
42. And I can honestly say, I find that I have been happiest in my 40s - more comfortable in my own skin, if that makes any sense.
Thanks... I didn't realize so many people responded until I had to type in all of the names!
Great Job...Mark Mc........One more older than my husband who posts. I hope he does not mind me telling but it is Old Soldier.
One more for the chart - I'm currently 65 and am enjoying Key West at this moment. I love retirement.
cbel, SueR, let's just say that I'm a middle of the road kind of guy, lol. (see CR37's histogram).
:)
JIT: I'm taking that as 50. Whatever. AND I always like your posts even if you are a "youngster".
Aww, alright cbel. I need a few more years to reach that milestone though. 45 this year...
WOW, JIT, appreciating your clear-headed straight thinking, I thought you were older. Cool!

57 going on 177....but what do you expect, I'm a Civil War Vet!
Photo by Nick Scalara of Hackettstown NJ.
Boy, you are a handsome devil, John C....in your Civil War uniform. Nick Scalara did a nice job on that photo.
I'm 36. To me, the even numbered years always sound older than the odd numbered ones!
A&P gives a 5% discount on orders of $30 or more on Tuesday to age 55 and older. You need the coupon from the flyer.
Big deal ---- $1.50 off on $30 of overpriced food (unless you are only shopping for the "sale" items)
Saving $1.50 IS a big deal for some folks that might be living day to day!
So Mansfield Mama, you really made me feel old! And to think I was your counsellor at Summer Day Camp in Mendham. Seems like just yesterday!

Had a little fun with the updated histogram. The needle didn't move very much in terms of average age (45.87) and median age (45). Note that I only used exact ages, and only included those who responded for themselves. If you ballparked your age, you were not included. If you said "I will be 245 on December 31st," I marked you as 244.
I was 29 and just like Kissycat hoped not to get any older also. But somehow I am now 62. It's okay though.
Kissycat: I don't think you'll believe me, but the really good stuff doesn't come until you're in your 30's and 40's and it just gets better from there. Trust me.
Thanks Cbel, My 30's are something to look forward to now bc I'm expecting my first little one this summer! So excited!
Thank you CR37, for the updated graph.
I see I am in the age group with the most members!
