formica resurfacing
I am looking for a company that will resurface cabinets and countertops. I would like to go right over the existing formica. Anyone know of a company that does this.....
Before you resurface the Formica, consider getting new countertops. I just got new Formica countertops from Home Depot. The entire cost, INCLUDING measurement and installation, was just over $1,000 (though I had to remove the old tops, myself). Very likely, you're going to pay close to that--perhaps even more--to have the old ones properly resurfaced . . . and they may not even last as long.
In addition, if you're going to have the cabinets re-faced, you will likely need to remove the old countertops, anyway (though you could re-install them). By the time you go through all of that, it might be worth just getting new counters.
I agree LoneWolf. We remodeled our kitchen recently and the cost variance between "re-surface" and "new" was not extreme. We decided to hire a local contractor rather than use Lowes' or the Home Depot - and our result was better quality and less expense !
