Just thinking we should either change the name of this forum or, at the very least, create a new "cats only" forum so the cats can find other cats looking for roommates.
More cats than humans in our town. I told the census bureau that in our weekly call today.
Wild Animal - "Is that cat?"... I don't think you understand, that isn't Tigger's cat, that's Tigger! ;-) Tigger is not a Maine Coon, he doesn't have that kind of fluffy coat at all. He's got the looks, but a Lewis Black personality. Life's not always simple in our house...
I think we should have our own dating site. I am recently widowed male and would like to meet a lovely young feline. <3 I enjoy long naps, tuna and only use catnip socially.
Thanks cbel, I like the fact that this group is really good at running with this stuff. I lived on Rutgers' tree hugging campus, and there were feral cats EVERYWHERE because kids would get caught with cats in their apartment and then release them. Bob Barker would be pissed if he knew what was going on in those woods...
And Hackettstown seems to have more cats.
I have two cats that are looking for pen pals. Taylor is a 6 year old who enjoys being brushed, tripping you when you walk, and foaming at the mouth during rides in the car. Acceptable cat age range: 4 to 8.
Her brother Chuck is also 6, but the similarities end there. Chuck is a recovering cocaine addict who spent some time in lock up for forging prescriptions. I suspect him of stealing my beer, and he DEFINITELY wears my clothing around the house while I'm not home. I think a good pen pal for Chuck would be an adult cat posing as a 6 year old who can report back if Chuck mentions anything illegal.
I look forward to coordinating this.
Slade, I'd like to know, as joyful asked - are those all your cats? They are beautiful - my kind of cuddle zone.
I love them all on the bed - I have 5 (3 boys & 2 girls). I love when they all settle down
in the same space.
I agree, Cbel..Oliver and Lovey look like a "match made in Heaven".(Miss Kitty agrees as she does not want to share Tigger with "younger felines" ) .Speaking of Lovey..hope she is OK now after her visit to the vets.
HAHAHA CR you made my boring night so far ;) thanks for talking kitty! I will introduce mine... Pepper and Hollow... I think a cat forum would be furtastic!
Yes, but it's a blended family........I have 3 cats and 2 dogs........my bf came with 4 cats and now we, and they, are one big happy family living in one small house. LOL!
slade, do you get to sit on the floor for TV time? LOL
They are all beautiful!
Slade, that photo of his 4, are they lined up on his side of the bed? I like the photo of your 5 as well. I like the cat on the arm looking at the dog like, you need to move. That's so nice you have a Brady Bunch pet family. :)
@Lynnada - that is MY side of the bed. They know the hand that feeds them and that my other hand cleans their litter boxes.
@Lori - that's my secret ploy to get them off the couch..........I sit on the floor to give the dogs belly rubs & the kitties a good amount of love & some scratchin between the ears, then when they're still on the floor, I hop on the couch, stretch out and claim my spot!
I am continually amazed that all 7 pets have such distinct personalities. Two cats are so loving & people friendly to the point of being annoying. One is completely aloof and if she rubs up against my leg, I almost feel honored. In the picture of the 5 of mine on the love seat, the cat & dog on the right are inseperable. The other dog has severe separation anxiety and is a great dog until I leave the house. I have to crate her when I leave or let her in the yard to watch me walk across the street to my neighbor's home. The little tiger/calico cat (sitting on the arm of the love seat) is named Miller Lite, but we call her miller da killer because she's the one most likely to bring us a prize when she gets out.
And for anyone that's wondering, they're all rescues. Although I don't keep track, I think we spend more per month on food, litter & vet bills for them than we do for food, toilet paper & doctor bills for us. If you're an animal lover, you'll understand why that's ok.
@Slade, beautiful pictures, beautiful story about your blended family! Is Tilly the newest baby?
So, can your cat do this??!! Updated picture of Sammy - who is doing beautifully despite his ir-repairable dislocated hip (we believe he got his hind leg caught in the boxspring when he was a kitten). His centerfold poses are hysterical:)
Slade - thanks so much for the story & the pictures - the are a lovely bunch.
I will see though that all your cats look BIG. Im not sure that I would want to mess with them. It is great to see them all getting along enough to snuggle with each other.
They show us the TRUE meaning of a BLENDED FAMILY. Enjoy.
And yes, as a 5 cat mom, I understand it is more important for them to be fed than me.
You rock, Tigger.......
Bessie, Tilly is the old lady of the pet household....and you met her when she was just a puppy at a girl's softball game a few years ago. Do you remember?
Can I get in on this action?
Mom finally took a decent picture of me, which I think highlights my best assets (my pretty eyes!). And enough with the stupid dog pictures already mom, right?
I am mommy's BFF (best feline friend) and she says I'll always be her best cat ever. I came to her when she was working at a wildlife rehab place, and I needed a home because I had been living in a horse barn because my owner was an older lady who had passed away. Can you imagine - ME - a princess - in a barn?! No, me either. Now, my feet only touch carpet. And I have special bed privileges because I'm a special princess. Did I mention how special I am? Mom and I feel in love immediately.
That said, I still have room in my fancy heart for a handsome boy cat! Warning: must not be a dumpster diver or rat-eater. I have *standards.*
Please write back.
What about plastic bag licking? Do any of you like plastic, too? I know where Mom keeps some bags, so I just open the cabinet and climb in there. Oh, I also don't like ceiling fans, at all, ever.
Plastic bags!! But I LOVE plastic bags. They're the tastiest. Even though they do give a bit of indigestion once in a while, they're worth it. Styrofoam not so much...
I love all bags, including a nice paper bag to take a running dive into.
Oh Romeo, where are you Romeo???
Oh, crap. It's not like no one saw that coming from about 8 miles away. What a freaking Shakespeare...
Yeah, Well...Cbel...I just hope all these beautiful cats don't steal away my Tigger..I will be heartbroken..signed Miss Kitty
Hey everyone, this is Chuck the Cat. I am CR37s cat, and I wanted to let all of you know about my newest business venture, Chuckslist. It is going to be like Craigslist, but for cats. Have a used scratch post? Chuckslist. Looking for casual catmance? Chuckslist. I'll let everyone know when it is ready to roll out. In the meantime, anyone know how to score some Special K?
Miss Kitty: Tigger is all yours. I'm waiting for Oliver to take notice of me. He looks a little on the shy side, though, so it might take some time.
Anyway, I'm "safe" now, so we shall see.
Chuck - I tried something called "Chuckieslist" before. Some psychotic doll thing run by Carrot Top. Anything like that? In any case, got the Special K - will trade for tuna. What?? Not what you meant? Give me a break, who turns down tuna? I'm cat-a-tonic.
Miss Kitty - Not to worry, babes. I only have eyes for you. See you in a bit, wait for the secret knock.
Lovey - Wouldn't worry. I think that Oliver just lives in the boonies.
heres my cat...the remarkable thing is that this cat picked me out to be his buddy...and 11 years later...we are still hitting it off better then ever
Oldman, We have a cat that picked my son out to be his buddy - and 3 years later they are still best buds. It is amazing, but sometimes a bond is just meant to be.
Well, I am committed to slimming down. I have my yellow sweat band, and plan to start exercising. Perhaps Purr90X...
Can't believe that Chuck lays on the floor just like my cat Miss Kitty (on his back) .What kind of breed is he? Miss Kitty is Birman/Ragdoll with the white paws just like Chuck but I think longer hair.
Speaking of Fattypants, here's one of my stupid cousin who lives here, I hate that guy! That's my mom holding him like a big, fat, stupid baby, I hate that! His name is Max, but they call him Moo, since he's big and bovine.
Here's another one of Moo, with the dog. He seems to LIKE the dog, did I mention he is stupid? I am concerned that his stupidity is only an act and he and the dog are plotting against me, as I am king and supreme ruler of this domain.
Here's the worst one of all! Punkin, aka the weasel, I wish she was afraid of me like the other one. This brat gets me in trouble, all I do sometimes is walk into the room and she starts all screaming like she needs some power steering fluid. This one won't back down and I have to resort to a knock-down drag out wresting match. Then, Mom or Grandma have to separate us and I get in trouble, grrr. Then the Moms think she's so sweet and little and cute, omg, sickening! If I could just find a box, I'd ship her off to Bora Bora!
Yellow sweat band? Either that or you got whiplash from thinking too hard...
Yeah, you go exercise. I had that thought once. It passed.
I am unsure of Chuck's breed (or his sister's), as they are adopted from MSPCA without any documentation as to their ancestry. Chuck weighs in at about 17 pounds, his sister closer to 15. I say Maine Coon, my wife says "Shut up CR37!"
Taylor is a bit more shy, and probably won't come on here. I'll post a picture of her, also lying on her back.
(Not sure why it is upside down when you open it, and I am not aiming to find out)
CR37 - You say that now, but when it really happens you and I both know that 15 lbs was just a short time ago... ;-)
PS My grandmother in PA had seen a neighbors cat go from 22 to 28 without blinking. The cats name? "Pumpkin".
CR37 and GC: My Katie, RIP, weighed about 20 lbs and was miserable. She really had no quality of life. Tigger seems to carry his weight well. So, who knows?
Besides, he still seems to think he's hot, so good for him!
cbel - Tigger has a lot to teach us all. He's all attitude. He's been 11 lbs as a neglected younger pet with a tape worm and 22 lbs in his own Empire. And all stages in between. He's long and lean so that 18lbs seems quite reasonable. But as long as he's got Miss Kitty, who the ^!*&! cares!! That's a lesson we should all learn...
"A vole a day keeps the vetman away."
I hunt for my dinner. And breakfast and lunch too. And sometimes I leave a present for Mom and Dad on a doormat.
- Floyd, 13 years old, proud barn cat stock
Keep that thought, GC...Miss Kitty was here the other night for her secret knock from Tigger and she is in Heaven..she no longer has to tell us what she wants for Christmas if you know what I mean...
heres Sylvester/ Gattos playmate...CowCat...named because her fur has the same color pattern as a dairy cow...
heres a better view of both cats...at leisure...CowCat and Sylvester/Gatto...Sylvester likes to watch the Sun rise in the morning...and CowCat...does not like loud noises...or UPS and Fedex delivery vehicles...
Oldman your cat is beautiful. Slade the picture of dog and cat is too. Wow there are some beautiful cats out there. I have 3 cats and a golden retriever
I love looking at the pictures of everyone's cats. I miss my cat that passed on about 12 years ago.
Severe allergies and asthma prevents me from getting another one. It was very difficult to have to face that realization. Unfortunately the asthma is under control without animals in the house.
It is so nice to see the cats and their personalities in the pictures. It really brings back some fond memories
Let's not let this thread die! I love seeing everyone's cats, too, and Coralie is counting on us.
Heeere kitty kitty kitties....
i nominate CR37 to be the mayor of hackCATStown
Rebecka - that is adorable... Too funny...
Was at my brother's house and he has a kitten that is about 7 months old - first year with a Christmas tree and of course goes for it. - So here he is yelling at the cat and here I am saying - good kitty... have fun!!!
jrze pride - A human as mayor?? Feel free to nominate Chuck, but a human is nonsense.
Before anyone even goes there, I am already Emperor so relinquish all title to the job. Otherwise actually I think Floyd looks like a go-getter. He can canvas the town while the rest of us have a nap or four or five....
Peaches and Samson look so much like the cat (Spot) that my mom had. I know... how do you get the name spot out of a cat that looks like that... just our weird naming convention!
Ironically, Peaches is a stray - he will not allow you to touch him - food, of course, he will always take a handout - I have a feeling he owned by someone but he is a wanderer as he seems to be groomed.
Peaches hangs around by my sister's house on the far end of Long Valley by Pottersville- It would have been funny if he turned out to be your cat! It seems most cats have a twin somewhere.
I love all animals, especially cats - and I love to photograph them -
OMG Peaches and Samson look just like the cat I had when I was a kid, Flame. I loved her sooo much.
She would meow outside my bedroom window, then be at the door, which was all the way around the house, by the time I got there. She also loved to suck the lace on my pj's.
This is Tigger-tig, the one that would rip your face off if you tried to cut her nails. She has come a long way. She still runs from strangers.
AHHHHHH finally, ecstasy!!
Hey Tigger, do you share your tuna? If you share your tuna, I'll share my brush.
And by the way I let my humans cut my nails now, this sure beats being a feral cat out in the cold rain and snow.
Thanks for sharing the pictures and stories of your cats -
Everyone has beautiful pets.
What is the silliest thing your cat has ever done?
Here is Jake - strolling through the dishwasher -
Jake is thinking, I know Mom puts stuff with bits of food on it in here, so where's the food go?
They said I can't scratch microfiber, but that doesn't mean I can't sleep all over it!
cbel - The post right before Sugar's. Thats "Ozzie". With a picture of a bowl full of shells. "Clammy paws", get it??? ;-)
Along the same lines as oldman - here is our Tabitha in the sun in our bathroom window
Denis: He looks a little unsure in that first picture. In the second, it looks like he feels at home. He's a beauty!
Denis - judging from the first pic, that's definitely the one I saw over in the Knight Riders parking lot. Glad he's got a good home now.
Longhorn - White Castle?? I think I know now why he looks so big in the picture with his buddy Tilly. ;-)
I wasn't sure if this post was more appropriate for "Robber" or "HackCATStown Life." I, for one, reiterate my pride in Hackettstown. At least we don't have leopards wandering into to town, scalping people. Article below (some images are graphic).
PS to all you cats - STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT YOUR OWNERS. We might go all Garfield on you and ship you to Abu Dhabi like Nermal.
True Story...10 years ago my mother passed away in my home from cancer...it was late on a saturday night...after the commotion was over...my family went to bed...I stayed up late into the night by myself trying to sort things out in my mind...at about 4 in the morning...I felt a tap on my shoulder... since everyone was asleep... I was a bit shocked...it was my cat Gatto...he was right behind me...and looked at me like he was concerned...to this day...I have a special friendship with this cat
CR37 - Oh, you such a nice guy. Come in nice and close now, rub up nice and close. And then POUNCE! Ninja Attack!! I scratch your eyes out!
Break free Chuck, i'm on my and and will be right over...
Oldman...I too loved your story..Our pets sense our feelings more than you think they do and want you to know they are there to offer whatever comfort they can. My cat is not too affectionate normally but when I was sick not too long ago she would not leave my side. There is no such thing as a "dumb animal".
Our girls Fiz and Figaro from PAL , sisters, hope this picture works, never sent one before
Little doubt their dreams are just like ours: one's individual life experiences in a random jumble.
LOL Tigger that is one very silly picture of you. You have a vampire tooth if you look closely!
So guess WHAT?!?!?! I just figured out how to open the door that traps Taylor and I in the basement. I stand on my hind paws, turn the gold thing, and push on the door...BOOM! the door opens.
I know mom and dad have us in the basement at night so we don't jump in the crib with our new brother, but we can't stand it down there.
Now that I can open doors, the world is my tuna.
What great photos - some cute kitties out there :)
Sugar.......had to show you how much my cat Grace looks like Sugar :o) even the eye color
Hello Barny - you are a cutie & I know your fur parents are wonderful. Nice to meet ya.
Crazy Cat Lady - Does Grace sneak up on her unsuspecting sleeping brother in the middle of the night and wake him with The Six Throwing Stars of Death?? If not, she's no Sugar...
LOL.......well Grace certainly is not a fan of other cats if that's what you mean :o) she would prefer to be an only cat but not in this house.....
Thank you everybuddy for the nice welcome and isn't it fun when all the pictures on the site are cats and more cats? We rule!
I used to live in a place with cows, but then I was scooped up and now I live with two big WOLVES. I am not joking I swear I've seen them IN the house - they are big and have big teeth too. And I think they are lookin for me.
Adorable shot of you Barny..sounds like you're one lucky kitty..and keep an eye open for those wolves.
Pass out Barny is - wow. I sometimes wish I could just sleep where I land, be comfortable & not wake up with a stiff neck, like my cats do. Awwww, the life of a pampurrrred kitty.
I love Barny! Looks like he has huge paws. I think he's going to be a BIG boy when he grows up.
Welcome Barny - we love your picture ! We're so glad your "mom" rescued you. Our "mom" rescued us. So glad you are part of the HL "cat community".
Henry & Mindy
Since this is a 'cat lovers' topic.....please help me spread the word about a kitten I have up for adoption :o) He (and I am not just saying this) is the most loveable, sweet kitten I have had. He only wants to be petted and played with. He was born outside to a stray cat. Not sure what happened to his siblings or mother. He is approx 8 weeks old. I have also posted an ad in the classified section.
He is SO sweet! If I didn't have a 'full house' I would definitely keep him. BUT I promised him ;o) I would find him a wonderful loving home....somebody must be looking for a perfect little kitty!
Rebecka - Does he have the throwing stars yet?? I'm telling you he has all the warning signs. You have a young Ninja on your hands.
GC you are so right about Barny. He's a little scamp.
Someone will probably have the right caption for this shot. It's not coming to me.
"What do you mean I need to decaf? I refuse this stinking Pelegrino and demand my morning double espresso!!".
Rebecka, great picture,
WHAT DO YOU WANT NOW!!!, can't you see I'm trying to get some paper work done.
Now I am TWICE as big as the poodle Mr. Iggles - ha!! I like to run and jump on him, too.
What is up with my crazy cat!? She smacks the water bowl until the water spills onto the floor. THEN she drinks it off of the floor...... Tired of wet socks.
Maja - unfortunately, many fellow cat owners are also wet-sock sufferers. Cats often have a thing with playing in their water bowls. Barny drops one of his toys in his water dish every day. Trying to drown his furry mice, I guess.
Sugar consistently stands a foot away from the water bowl, then reaches out with one paw to pull it to her, spills most of it, and then only drinks the little bit left in the bowl. I have no idea why but she's ritualistically OCD about the bowl.
I read this thread and laughed!! I love looking at pictures of cats and to hear the funny stories of what they do :)
Here is a picture of one of the newest members of my 'cat family'. All curled up sleeping on my bed (her favorite place to be!) Her and her four siblings were born to a stray cat that I took in 7 mos. ago. I kept her and one of her sisters. She was born without one of her back paws. Her name is Thumper. She is the sweetest little thing :)
My 14 yo cat has her first cold. I feel bad for her. But it's not like having a sick kid and you have to keep a box of tissues around to wipe the runny nose. She just licks it..yuck.
I really miss my sister Marbles ("Fang" pictured above) so we have a foster cat Wren who is very shy but I'm being patient with her to make her feel comfortable, and also Mommy is bringing me a new girl cat tomorrow who is very playful and I'm so excited!! This is her picture but she doesn't have a name yet!
oh p.s. daddy still hasn't discovered that Wren is living with us so keep it quiet! She is very hidey so it might be a while... hehe! Here I am havin' some treats with Wren.
Not my cat, but I did take the photo :)
Barny, is your new sister from PAL? I volunteer there and she looks like one of ours...if so, hooray! Congratulations no matter what, as any rescue that gets a fur-ever home is a happy occasion!
Both Wren and female cat (named "Melinda" temporarily) are from PAL. Wren was living with Patty for some time, and was deemed a difficult-to-adopt adult, because she's really not socialized, so we are going to do whatever we can to get her to come out of her shell. Patience, treats, socialization with nice cat (Barny)... she deserves to be given a real chance at home life, even if she's super shy, and doesn't even like to be petted yet.
Melinda I met today at Petsmart, after telling Patty I wanted a really friendly Calico who would hopefully like to sleep in bed with us. Melinda sure looks like she fits the bill! What a sweety.
We decided to take adults because they usually wait longer to be adopted -- kittens find homes more easily.
Rebecka~ that is wonderful you are trying to help Wren come out of her shell....I have 2 semi feral females (both caught a little too old and females I think are tougher) but both are quite happy in our home. They do not like to be touched but are quite comfortable in the house....and with our other cats and 2 dogs. My 2 will be 2 yrs old next month......I got them when they were 3 and 4 months old. Born to a feral mom which also makes it more difficult....but they are all different and I have read amazing success stories! Keep us posted on her progress :)
Rebecka, thank-you for adopting adult cats...there are so many loving, loyal ones that just need a good home. The cute little kittens we hardly ever have trouble finding homes for, but sometimes those adult ones are overlooked. Their owners might pass away or aren't able to care for them anymore and those are the ones that break my heart.
We have a rescue who was very feral and it took a long time for her to become comfortable. My husband had doubts if it would ever happen, but with love, patience and socialization, she became a loving, gentle cat. Her adopted sister also was key in bringing her around. She is my shadow and follows me everywhere!
For anyone on the fence, adopting an adult cat is rewarding! They are wonderful pets. There is a sweet, black cat from PAL that I am trying to find a home for - Twinny. He's on the website if anyone is interested in adopting a sweetie of a cat, check him out - http://www.palpets.org/LookupPetsResult.asp?typ=Cat
Twinny looks like a great cat! I wish I had room for another cat. I'd adopt him in a heartbeat!
This is Gracie - aka Amazing Grace- found in someone's backyard with a huge gash in her chest - long story short - she was fostered, adopted and returned in a day - lived 2 months with a friend of mine who returned her - so she is my permanent spare - slowly turning into a really nice cat - but still has screaming matches with one of my others. Oh yes - I have 5 - 2 by choice - and 3 rescues.........
Jules I checked out the website and I noticed a black cat named Salem, I don't know if you are aware that his adopoted parents (If it's the same cat) put up a thread on HL about a week ago looking for him?
Julie and Max stated that they adopted a cat named Salem on 8/12 and they posted a picture of him. It looks like the same cat that is on your website. It didn't indicate that he was already adopted, unless it just hasn't been updated yet.
Not sure if it's the same cat but here is Julie and Max's contact number 908-684-1765.
FYI- I sent them a post last week asking if they found him yet but no response
Jules - I've met Twinny and he is so affectionate! I think he would sit in someone's lap all day. He's a really awesome cat. The only reason we didn't scoop him up is because we already have 3 male cats, and another male would probably upset the balance. We really wanted a couple females, especially a Calico. My first cat love was a Calico, and I just recently lost her.
Hastings - thanks for sharing your experience with ferals. So perhaps Wren may never be as social as we'd like her to be, but she could still live happily with us in the house? Hadn't thought of that, actually. She may just be a cat that always needs her space, but will enjoy the goings-on around here from a distance.
noname - your picture of Gracie is just begging for a good caption!
positive, I was not aware of that - thank-you very much for letting me know - I will let our group know.
Unfortunately the Salem that was lost on Valentine St. isn't the same Salem that's on the PAL website. PAL's had their Salem for over 2 years and he's being fostered by my neighbor.
I'm praying that Julie and Max found their missing kitty.
Espo- That's too bad, I was hoping for a happy ending for them.
What a coincidence though, same name and they look so much a like.
I appreciate the fact that you are well informed and on top of things. Thanks.
She is exploring the sunroom, and maybe will help scaredy foster cat, Wren, feel more at ease.
I'm sorry, I'm still back on the post "socializing with the nice cat"...
Barny? Are we serious here? On the other hand Nora looks like she can take care of business. Girl cats rulez.
What a sweet beautiful face Nora has! That sunroom sounds like the hip place to be for cats! Lol
OMG we just realized that Nora is slightly cross-eyed! I'll have to get a close-up for you guys. It is kind of cute and also pretty funny. Maybe we'll get her an eye patch or special glasses?
Rebecka - You're funny. You gotta be quicker than that. We're faster than silly dogz. ;-)
Uncooperative? Who's uncooperative for who? Do you have your obedience certificate yet, or do you need to go back to human obedience school? Your cat hasn't trained you very well. ;-)
Oh these humans, I kill me.....
Kuno & Hobbes, Kuno was left at a dumpster with a bunch of other kittens, Hobbes grew up behind the mini mall on Main st. Both content indoor cats now.
That's a much better picture than this ---------->
Cats and kittens seem to go into overdrive when I show up with a camera ;-)
New addition to the house. I just hope my other 2 will be kind or tolerate her. Meet Dolly
Ah, the rare two-headed kitty, espo!
Dolly looks like she could hold her own, Wild Angel. Very cute, and also has a look of determination about her. Are your other two cats male or female? Males tend to give females leeway. Females might make a bit of a hiss, but then usually settle right down (in my experience). I introduced a new female to a very old and very tetchy female Calico, and in a couple weeks, they were sleeping curled up next to one another. Let us know how it goes!
Denis - your cats hit the jackpot when they came home with you. Think of the life they would be living now if they weren't taken in by a kind human...
Tigger - have you ever been properly disciplined? Does your Daddy let you get away with your sass 24/7?
Oh, and I did manage to get a usable image of Nora. Have you ever seen a cat that has a constant look of surprise and astonishment on her face? That's our Nora.
Scooby is the only feline in this household so he gave in and became best friends with the cookie monster.
Since Scooby is a feline loner he does want to say hello to Nora, Dolly, Kuno and Hobbes!
Rebecka. I have a male and a female. They are 8 and Dolly is a few months old. The male(Chestnut) hisses and is angry and the female, (Cypress) isn't so angry. Weird! I just hope they tolerate her. She's been in the house for a few days. I can't blame them for being mad....after all it's their house and now a new cat has arrived. YIKES! Dolly sure is a sweetie :)
Ok...one more. This is them together which is a rare occurrence. They are bird watching at front door. Lol
Cypress and Chestnut are beautiful and they look like that don't put up with any nonsense. Lol! I'm sure they will adjust to the newbee Dolly, it just takes time. Back in the day when I had many animals; cats, dogs, pigeons and gerbils...they all eventually adjusted and tolerated each other and some actually became best of friends.
Here's Evie, she really is a nice cat, just don't mess with her while she's sleeping.
If I didn't know better, I'd say Evie was my brother most mornings. He's what I call a groucho...
I'm too relaxed for that.
Tigger is a groucho for sure. Teehee.
We always gotta be on the lookout for morning groucho's.
I had to look twice at Cousin Zuzu...At first I thought it was my Miss Kitty with the long white mane but Miss Kitty has different coloration and blue eyes. Cousin Zuzu is a beautiful cat, however...Is he or she related to Tigger??? Mindy's Mom...I always love to see pics of Mindy and Henry...technically I think they are not "in" your bed but "on" it, right?
joyful - Zoe (commonly called Zuzu) is in fact a very old friend of Tigger's from the frozen North now moved to the Carolina's. She is being guard cat over my sleeping brother in that picture. (ie she is in fact Tigger's cousin) It's actually Zuzu's food that Tigger came to browse on while introducing himself to the family so many years ago. Zuzu continues to send an occasional email to Tigger, but just really isn't such a computer person. Zuzu is actually a tiny little thing on the inside of all the fluff but has all attitude on the outside.
Mindy'sMom - looks like the kids have their own beds to worry about. ;-)
Mindy and Henry "have it made". They are spoiled rotten. I saved Henry from being euthanized 14 years ago and adopted Mindy from Noah's Ark 3 years ago. I do believe that animals know when they are rescued and always turn out to be the most loving pets. I'm so glad I have them.
That's a precious picture Rebecka
Cats stealing dog's bed...
I had ta go to the vet today and when i got home an got outta the carrier Tiki and Nora were fightin' over it to make it a new den! Oh, if only they knew where that den takes them!!
I do Wendy - Pipsqueak weighs about 22 lbs - can barely pick him up - Peanut -on the pillow actually only weighs maybe 8 lbs - she is all fluff...............and yes they almost always look supremely comfortable - Rebecka
well, Barny - when I caught him - and his siblings - and his mom - he was a tiny weenie little pipsqueak - he is bigger than the rest of his family by a lot now- sometimes call him Jumbo - sometimes - my Sumo Wrestler
noname - if Pipsqueak is 22lbs, how much is Sylvester? He looks like another big boy.
Pipsqueak bet my crew, has My Oscar is 15lbs, coming in 2nd is Tucker @ 14lbs. Always a lug, but love them tons!
Not sure what sylvester weighs...can't hold on to him long enough to find out....but he's not overweight but is a good size cat...my 17 year old is sadly down to 9 lbs...fortunately he's fluffy so he looks ok
Yeah, I know about 22lbs. Now that I'm 17/18 something, I'm not that kind of weight any more.
Is it just me, or is today just a good time to be in a bad mood?? ;-)
One of our cats, Max went to the bridge on Wednesday. He had been suffering from kidney disease for about a year and his weight and quality of life had declined. He also had started staying in my bedroom in the last week, where it is quiet and he was away from everyone. We made the difficult decision to end his suffering, I pet him as he passed peacefully. This is one of the last pictures I took of him, a few days before his passing.
His friend Punkin has been looking for him and spending time in all the places he had been in his last week. The fighting between Punkin and Romeo has increased. It would be nice if they are able to become friendly someday, which I doubt, but hopefully they will sort out the new balance in a short period of time.
Hey, Romeo. Sorry to hear about Max. You could come over by me if you wanted to you cutie you. Yow.
Hmm, that would get me away from that rotten weasel Punkin. Do you have any plastic bags? If not, I think I can probably bring some. Mreow!
Oh, so sorry to hear about Max, Lynnada. :-( He was a beautiful boy.
Sounds like Punkin will need extra hugs.
Here's Punkin looking for some love from Max. He just finished licking her head and is about to give her a beating. That was their usual routine. He was way bigger than Punking, but in this picture because she is closer and he lost weight, she looks bigger.
Very sorry and sad to hear about Max. He is a beautiful boy. we had a big boy named Nutty leave us 6 months ago. I still cry when I think of him and his buddy our Singapuran cat misses him greatly. So hard when we have to see them suffer and leave us. They are our loves.
Very sorry to hear of your loss, Lynnada. Max and Punkin look exactly like our 2 kitties.
My mom lost her beloved cat last month and his sister kept going to the sliding door and crying for him. It was so sad. She and my mom were lost without him. My mom adopted a rescue and the 2 cats are now becoming good friends. You can never replace any of our cherished furry babies but know that you gave Max a good, loving home while he was with you. We carry them forever in our hearts.
Romeo, Romeo, can we make a trade?? I'll trade you one of mine for you!!
Or just send that weasel to me and I'll Ninja that one. I know all about playing all nicey nicey. And then I POUNCE!
I got me some nice bags, I even get a box or two but that Tigger hogs it all....
Bag or box, cats love them. All cats. All of mine are just like Romeo and Nora there. I can't count how many pictures I've got of them playing with nothing more than a plain box. It's rare I buy special toys, they really prefer every day packaging. ;-)
Rebecka - sooooooooooooo cute!
He is adorable! I've always had a thing for the orange tabbys! I hope my gray and white cat Scooby doesn't read this! o:)
Rebecka - Either that or just accidentally tumbled out of its catouflage in a tuna coma induced snoozefest.
Someone dumped a mom and three kittens on our property yesterday afternoon (see Venting Thread... lol). Anyway, three of them are now safe in our sunroom (we have a trap out to catch the last kitten). They are eating and drinking like there's no tomorrow. And just a few minutes ago I put all sorts of cat toys on the floor, and they are all rolling around on their backs with furry and jingly things. :-) In the foreground here is mommy kitty, and in the background near a leg of the chair is long-haired kitten on her back with a purple bird.
Rececka - It angers me that anyone would drop off animals that they no longer want - that they don't treat them as furr babies & family.
I am thankful for people, like you, who do the right thing by the animals - I am sure that you will take care of them until a home / shelter can be found for them.
Thanks for being a wonderful FURR MOM!
Thanks for all the pictures of your animals - I love Barney.
Tsuki looks a bit like Punkin :o)
"I'm not sure if I know that tune, hum a few bars... "
Aww, Tsuki actually reminds me of Nadine (Romeo's love) who passed a few years ago.
Punkin has a lot of white on her. Since she misses her friend Max and she and Romeo hate each other she has taken to asking Socks the greyhound to groom her and be her friend. She doesn't seem to care much for the giant, cold, wet nose in her ear though.
Wendy, I'd like to think 99% of people would have given shelter and food to a mom and kitties! We are already in contact with PAL to get them vet care and new homes.
These are MINE and I will NOT share! .......Cypress got on the counter and claimed the bag of homemade calzones.
Meet Fuzzy. Sleeping in our bed these days. One of the kitties left for us at our barn. Being adopted soon by friends. In the meantime, we get to snuggle with His Fuzziness.
He sure does look fuzzy, and he looks like he's got white shoes, cause I got white shoes, and I like my white shoes, and he can be all warm and snuggly, and is he His Royal Fuzziness, cause I know Tigger is Emperor, and we gotta call him His Royal Tiggerness, and I kinda like His Royal Fuzziness, and EVERYTHING!!
It's OK, I kinda ramble.
Tigger you got DANCIN shoes?? I magine you get jiggy with it whenever nobody is watchin?
Iggy - That's not Tigger. That's a different cat which is why she says "Tigger is Emporer", not "I rule all there is cause *I'm* Emporer". ;-)
As for White Shoes Johnson - definitely can get jiggy with it - #3:
As for Tigger's dance moves, you got the wrong guy. There was such a thing as TiggerCam some years ago. He was no young guy back then and didn't do any clandestine twerking. An occasional slam dance when we watched Headbangers Ball together, but no hidden cam needed for that one. Now he don't get jiggy with nothing at his age these days. He's been a confirmed sonambulist as far as anyone is concerned. If he's up and around it's probably just because tuna is involved, and is sleep walking. The sleep, now that's his real life. ;-)
I not always good reader, GC.
But enough about me and your fancy dancin' cats, here is my new sister who was left in the cold by the barn an she was gonna freeze but **I** rescued her an now she's havin' some lobster leftovers right now this very minit.
Jus look at dat face she decided to make for her formal portrit she makes me laugh. Why kitties sometimes forget to put their tongue back in????
Fuzzy also wishes to say hello to all the HL cats. He weighs just over 4 lbs, and is the snuggliest kitten you can imagine. His fur feels like silky cotton.
Between the two puppies and the two kittens, our house is pretty much on cuteness overload these days.
What happened to your new sister! She eats some leftover lobster and her hair explodes! As far as us leaving our tongues out....it's just a little bit of nah, nah, nah, nah.... ;)
Fuzzy said it's becauze he is gonna grow up and be a big lion some day dats why he has a MANE. I think we need ta give him away before this happins.
Text conversation between DH and I just now:
Me (from vet's office): Guess what. Fuzzy and Petra are both FIV and Leukemia negative, and appear to super healthy!
Me: That's the good news.
DH: And the bad?
Me: Petra is pregnant.
(Delay of about 5 minutes.)
DH: Do we have a teeny little coat hanger somewhere?
So I guess my question to my wise fellow HLifers is: should I pack up and run away?
(In case you've lost count, there are currently 12 animals under our roof: 5 dogs of which 2 puppies, and 7 cats, of which 2 are kittens that were left by our barn... one of whom is pregnant)
run run as fast as you can - or find that little coat hanger - so many beautiful cats and kitties needing homes - but you already know that
Oh, yes, 5catmom, we know! All of our cats are rescues. Beautiful, wonderful animals.
Rebecka will soon be a certified veterinary midwife & nanny, lol. Sounds like run away is what Petra's former owner did, good luck.
I'm thinking we should call a meeting after the holidays of all the crazy animal people here on HL
"We should call a meeting" - I assume we're talking Tuna here?? Right? Do I have time to take a snooze? I think I'm going to nap one way or the other.
Iggy - The Poodle Association is working day and night to make sure Fuzzy stays there forever. Just to keep an eye on you. You can thank me later. Cats don't forget their tongues, they just stick them out at dogs. You can thank your sister later. Don't you have patients to attend to, and some candy stripes to wear??
Oh Sugar, what would I do without you and your Tigger pal's humor? Thanks for the laugh. (Iggy, on the other hand, wishes it to be known that he is *not* laughing.)
Iggy's probably still trying to figure out how to boil water, running around frantically exclaiming, "I don't know nuthin' bout birthin' no babies!"
I believe we should send our servants to this meeting along with a list of our demands for Tuna, chickin, turkey, mashed potatoes and red wine.
Uh- Romeo - this "meeting" would be for the purpose of allowing your "servants" to organize - over said wine, cheese, and crackers.............
Well, I think I've found the perfect gift for our cats this Christmas! Isn't this adorable?
sorry forgot to include the link to the the etsy listing https://www.etsy.com/listing/103678489/cat-nap-cocoon-cave-bed-house-vessel?ref=related-4
fabulous picture, Rebecca - mine whine and circle while waiting - and some have to try all the bowls to see if one has something better than the other - what a hoot
Before I moved in with DH, I had just my one little dog lulu. And I was freaked out by the thought of a cat on a kitchen table. Now... I am outnumbered; trying to keep them off would be an exercise in futility. So I just have to laugh. Oh, how things change in one's life!
Rebecca, love the picture - my 4 circle my feet and "talk" to me -
In the morning, they are looking for their "treats" and at night it is their wet food. Gosh forbid if I loose track of time - they will remind me, very loudly.
Circle and "talk"?? Heck, mine jump up on the bed while I'm barely awake and start in with phrases like "we need to have a discussion", "your lazy a@@", "lack of motivation", "things can't go on like this". And that's the nice one who says that. ;-)
Yeah, I know what that's like.
well - Sylvester - my tuxedo - flops on me and makes a subtle little request - ignored he escalates - jumps off me and back on - and says "neow" --runs out of the room and yells NEOW???? - and the cycle continues until I give in - then it's a question of who can get downstairs into the kitchen first ---I might have to video this one of these days - pretty funny
Rebecca, I just love that picture. Your cats are all beautiful (& your dogs of course). At one time, I was in the same boat...5 cats, 3 dogs. Now I just have 1 of each, along with 2 birds & assorted fish. Yes, how life changes with our animal families. I would adopt so many more if I could.
I suggest taking the request high than the kitchen table. Go on top of the fridge!!
See, he's got plenty of his food, where is mine??
I think Sylvester should just start with immediate escalation. I jump up on top, pound my fists on his chest and yell at the top of my lungs - "You stupid rotten human, wake the hell up and feed us you good for nothing lump of disturbance we got work to do and you just sit there or I'm gonna bite your toes like I used to do with mommy and you know she always got right up..."
Or something. I kinda ramble sometimes.
5catmom - Not to worry, her tirade is worse than her toe nipping. Jumping up on my chest isn't what I planned for, but it comes with the territory. She purrs real, real loud after she does that so she knows she's being naughty.
I didn't want to start a new thread just for this topic, because it is basically about... cat toenails. (Really.)
I need the opinions of cat people, here.
One of our cats is not approachable. Her name is Wren. We adopted her from PAL (well, technically we're just fostering her, but I don't think she's going anywhere). We chose her because she was the toughest case, she had been sitting in a cage for months, and was probably *never* going to be adopted. Why? She doesn't like people. At all!
She's very happy in our house, though. She *loves* the other cats and even doesn't mind the dogs. During the day, we see her lurking around behind furniture or curled up in her special bed by the window, but at night, that's when it's her time. She romps around and plays with two of the other cats all night. It's basically party time. So she's got a good home and all, but...
She doesn't like it if we try to get near her. She's no longer terrified of us like she was at first, she just doesn't like to be petted. So my question is this: what is happening with her nails?? Is it dangerous that I haven't been clipping them? Do they stop growing at some point? And most importantly: should I put her through the great trauma of trapping her just to cut her nails?
Thanks in advance.
Rebecka - as a longtime cat person - I would not worry - assuming she scratches a post or something similar, she should be fine. I have one I rescued and it took him years to want petting. Now he is my mush but I can't hold on to him for anything - nails, brushing, trip to vet ...you name it. His nails are fine. Actually I don't clip any regularly...though on a recent trip to the vet she said it's more important to do the nails of older cats because their nails get thicker and can grow into the pads of their feet. I've never seen that but my two oldest do get nails done occasionally. Anyway bottom line - don't worry about it.........I took my "spare" to the vet for nail clipping and ear cleaning because I knew I'd be shredded if I did it myself and it was a matter of protecting me......
Rebecka - So long as she has sufficient scratching pads and uses them it will be just fine. Their nails splinter off when they scratch and it actually sharpens them back up. It may be that you have to watch the furniture because the very sharp nails can really do a number on it. But otherwise it's not an issue.
Thank you, both, so much. My mind is at ease. She definitely has her scratching posts, I just wasn't sure that was enough. So happy I don't have to put her through the nail-clipping scenario. I think that would have meant a big set-back for her.
I think our leather couch (see pic) is one of the cats' favorite "scratching posts." It was new just like 2 years ago. Oh well... the price of living with animals! (Small price. Obviously, we're not that hung up on having nice things with all the pets we have.)
now there would be a thread - pix and commentary of things our pets have put their mark on ----at least I learned my lesson about wall to wall carpeting - put wood in when I moved here ---flatweave area rugs don't seem to interest them---
hmmm may have to take some pix of destruction....
Rebecka, I used to have a cat like that. I would just have the vet do it when Nadine went for her check up and shots. She was polydactyl and had 6 toes on all four feet. The nails on some of her extra toes were like crescents or crab claws, so she had some weird stuff going on and she was fine with only having them cut once a year. As she got older, she did start to come around and enjoy being pet and just started jumping up on the bed and visiting me just before she passed. Over the years, we could see that she really wanted attention, but her fear held her back.
This is my daughter's cat. The caption she gave the photo was "she will f--k you up"....and she was not kidding.
Lynnada - I think Wren wants attention, too! I speak to her softly when I see her, and acknowledge her by leaving a treat on the floor, too. But I'm hoping that one day she'll come around like Nadine, and wait for us on the bed, and even enjoy being petted.
jj - your daughter's cat is an attack cat!? ;-)
Just witnessed another funny antic, here at the zoo. Iggy was walking innocently by the ottoman, when out from underneath it popped Fuzzy the kitten, who flew 2 feet into the air and jumped on Iggy's back. Non-stop fun around here!
And 5catmom - yes, that would be a thread and a half! "The Destruction of Our Possessions (by the ones we love)."
Here is our "ghost cat" Wren hanging out at a window "hiding" behind plants, watching the birds. She thanks you from the bottom of her heart for saying I don't need to clip her nails.
Wendy - our vet said she was 90% sure that Petra was pregnant... but she wasn't! (huge YAY)
Rebecka - I remember seeing Wren's picture on the PAL site. There was a time right when I had requested some info about a companion cat that Wren might have been one of the choices. I really like taking in the ones that aren't just kittens and thank you every day because they know they don't get as many chances. But while they were 'thinking about it' for who might be best, Sugar and her whole saga unfolded. I still very much like one of the others still at PAL who has been there for quite a long time just like Wren was. I hope that cat gets his home just like Wren does. Even though it would be possible with Tigger gone, two is enough for now particular as they start to adjust and settle. So even though I can't take in another, I'm glad Wren got a home even if it's in a pretty busy household. Now if you could just do something about the poodles mile long locks. ;-)
GC - Tigger is missed, not only by you, but also by us - we will miss his posts. RIP big boy.
When I took Wren home, we had just lost two of our females. So we were looking to get two females to fill our home and our hearts. I was looking specifically for one who would want to sleep in bed with us. So I didn't find that one, but I said, you know what, we have two "spaces," let's give one to a cat who should get a chance, and might not get another one for a long time.
And yes, adult cats are great to adopt! We have friends who are looking to adopt a big (preferably "fat" lol) adult cat, and they asked me to find one for them. I'm so happy to know the ladies at PAL. I can email them, and I'm sure they will have suggestions!
Here is Fuzzy looking particularly handsome and all grown up. He was such a munchkin when he was left at our barn -- just about 4 months old. He has such a more mature look to his face now. He's maybe 5 lbs tops, and won't get much bigger. (We had a home to place him in, but got too attached to him and Petra - so they ended up staying and joining our menagerie.)
Iggles says to tell you he got a fur cut, but the Poodle Association's suggestion of a "shaved-bald poodle" was overruled by the powers that be (Mommy).
Sugar - I loved my brother very much but he lost his battle with kitty cancer almost two weeks ago. Daddy told us when he found out between Thanksgiving and Christmas. We had just the best possible Christmas with Grandma Tuna because we didn't think Tigger would last that long. He was just the best brother and had a long, long life. Even though he was a bit of a megalomaniac.
White Shoes - I didn't know him long, but I still miss him.
Sugar - Poodle Association says veto the override! Or override the veto! Something like that!
Sugar - this is the look for you. You do this, and then I'll get shaved, K?
Let me at him Sugar. I'll go track him down and I'll teach that poodle a lesson. I got my ninja suit. That poodle forgets he already had a haircut like that, he can get another one any time we wanna give it to him. ;-)
An Engineer's Guide to Cats. "Corporal cuddling" does work....unless you have an attack cat.....which we don't have.
Miss Kitty is very sad that her boyfriend cat has gone over the Rainbow Bridge to kittykat Heaven. Tigger was a very unique cat and was loved by many....RIP Tigger....you will be missed a lot but Miss Kitty knows she will see you again someday.
Wendy: Tigger was GC's cat. Miss Kitty is mine. But, thank you for your post....Tigger will be very missed by us and Miss Kitty as well as GC, GC's Mom, and his other two cats.
There is a lovely kitty with PAL - Wynona. Left with her sister several years ago at a local petstore in a bag, adopted out but sadly returned due to her familys financial situation. See her photo and bio on www.palpets.org
Wren just let me pet her! Omg it has taken seven months and so much patience to get here, but she let me pet her!! So HAPPY! (She basically didn't like humans when we took her in - fostering her for PAL... don't think she's going anywhere, though.)
I found out today that my boy Chestnut is suffering from renal failure. He is 9 years old and I am deeply saddened at the terrible news. My Mom went and got him low protein food. That is what the vet suggested. Going to keep an eye on him and see how things go. Has anyone dealt with this?
that's great, Rebecka! can you share what you have done to get to this point with Wren? I have one that does not want to be touched, but very happy & content inside......doesn't hide under a bed all day......just not a fan of being touched :( I got her when she was almost 4 months old
Hastings - for the first couple of months, I just let her settle in and get comfortable here. I knew she was playing with other cats at night, so that was a great sign, and I knew she was eating and looked healthy. So I didn't "bother" her, and didn't try to approach her. Even looking at her made her scared.
Then I would speak softly to her when I would see her, but not look her directly in the eyes. Just so she knew that I knew she was there, and wasn't trying to catch her, that she was welcome.
We do something in the evenings we call "cat roundup." (Which makes us giggle.) We are in the kitchen and say "here kitty kitty" and all the cats come and get treats, milk, good canned food or catnip - something special. She started coming to the "round-ups". Slowly I could get closer to her as I was putting treats or food down. A couple weeks ago I could put the treats right in front of her and she wouldn't bolt. Then I saw she was interested in my hand, and I let her sniff. And then yesterday... I reached out slowly, and she let me pet her!
Last night, I found this cute little statue that looks like my sweet little Moose. This is where Lily hung out most of the night. She still misses her little buddy.
Bella-hogging the recliner
Jasper-plotting his next move on the dog
Lola - how touching....
Wild Angel - how is Chestnut doing? I don't really have any advice about renal failure. One of our cats passed because of it, but it was really because she was quite old (18), and there was nothing we could really do, the vet said.
Baby Blues - love the two new additions to our HL cat family!
Hastings, I have one who I "caught" outside. He has only been to the vet once - the day I caught him - for tests, neutering, and shots. He is too slippery and strong for me to hold on to. For several years he hid from most people. Now he is out and around but only 2 people can pet him. He now jumps on my bed as soon as I'm in it and flops over my legs. He sleeps there most of the night and wants to be petted all over. Unfortunately he weighs 17 pounds - hard to get up with him there...........The bottom line is - most come around............and it sounds like yours is content.
kitty defending his fortress
and from within the fortress
Wait. Does "GC" stands for Grumpy Cat???? :-P I am just kiddin' it's your kitties who should win that grumpy cat contest. Can I vote for White Shoes to get the Grumpy Cat prize?
Your kitty is very very pretty, Poppy.
Miss Kitty is my cat, 5catmom,...... my good friend, GC was kind enough to post a picture of her for me on HL as I don't know how to do that and other posters have asked to post what she looks like.. She has been a wonderful pet and I love her so much!!.... Joyful
@Summer..they are adorable..what are their names. Are they related, not to you, to each other, LOL?
Thanks Bessie! The one on the left is Sophie Ann and Noah is on the right. Sophie Ann is related to me..haha...just kidding! I call her my daughter;-) They are not related, I got Noah f/Brooklyn,NY after the superstorm and could not believe how much he looks like Sophie Ann...he was a kitten and copies everything she does and she mothers him and my other critters, it is just precious!
I love reading the cats stories:-)
They look so much alike, that's why I thought they were related..I love their names.
Summer - that is so cute that you got a cat that looks like the offspring of the cat you have! It's amazing how much they look like each other. Very adorable markings around their noses. And if anyone wants to call any of us "crazy cat people" - so be it. right? Cats are awesome!
Thanks Rebecka :-)! I love their noses too..haha Sophie Ann was a bottle baby.
Awww...thanks Bessie, their names kind of fit them
Hmmmm...maybe I am cat crazy! That's Ok:-)
that's amazing how similar they are! very cool =o)
Sophie Ann and Noah look so much alike ....it is uncanny! Who knows...maybe they really are related...stranger things have been known to happen.
Summer, they are just adorable !
Thanks everyone:-)...it's hysterical how much they look alike and act like they are related!! I got Sophie Ann her brother and sister f/a cow barn in PA, their eyes were closed (barn dog killed mother:( ) so I bottled raised them. Noah was a kitten and stray in Brooklyn, NY after the superstorm he was wandering around an apartment complex, I know someone who lived there so he took a train and met me in Whitehouse..lol Noah adores her...follows her and she calls to him like he's her baby. Sophie Ann loves her babies...So darn smart~!
Love the pic John C; I counted 7 - am I right?? The markings are beautiful also!
(Sophie Ann and Lulu - her other adopted baby;-)
I live in the apartments of Alexandria of Mansfield and there are cats roaming all over the place around there. Luckily I have zero issues with them as they haven't caused any problems that I can see. Maybe it's better to keep the mice under control, lol... The dog owners are actually far worse as they let them crap all over the place and don't clean it up. I'll take stray cats over lazy dog owners any day.
Everyone with a cat should have one of these, I think! It's beautiful on its own, and so practical when you're trying to work, and your cat is having none of it.
Sugar - do you sit on Dad's keyboard or laptop when he's trying to type? Tell me the truth.
No, she doesn't Rebecka. She doesn't bother with it because she's used to getting left over cereal milk if she waits off to the side during breakfast. I've just learned about this thing, Sugar is still teaching me to type. So I've just started exploring the computer recently.
My problem is I pound my fists real hard on it and it doesn't scream and yell like when I do that with the humans. It's no fun if you bring the hammer down and the only reaction you get is a typo. I'm beginning to think computers are a kind of dog.
White Shoes, it does look like your dad needs that special desk. Then you and your sister could crawl around in it and argue about who has the right of way when you're facing each other in a tunnel. Wouldn't that be fun?
In the meantime, your picture made me think of this.
Rebecka - Fun for who exactly??? I'm sure you're familiar with cat WWF. Why would I want to have the argue about the right of way via a body slam while I'm trying to work??? What again is the point of that thing? Another invitation to RUMBLE.
Do y'all live in the 4th dimension or somethin? Why are you always chasing things nobody else can see? I did ask my cats but they just looked at me with contemp and walk away.
We do it for the same reason you keep posting on cat threads. We're in training for chasing down naughty poodles.
We're coming to get you Snooty Snoot...
Rebecka - What? Ignatious Jinglebells Snooty didn't do it for you?? Iggy can thank Sugar later...
I just thought I would pass on this info sent to me.

So please help them help the cats of today and tomorrow.
Neighbor's cat - knocks on front door in the morning. Comes in, spends the day on 'his' chair in the sunroom. Then asks to go out, and moseys on back home in the evening.
Gotta love a cat with two homes. And not to worry - the neighbors know where he's spending his days. :-)
I babysat him ("catsat" I guess) when the neighbors were away for a few days. Apparently, he liked it here!
Rebecka - That was the exact story of Tigger's early life. From what was pieced together he had a wonderful young lady that go him as a kitten. Then graduated high school and went to college leaving him with the rest of the family that did not care. He roamed around some neighborhood families and found a humble but friendly abode that gave him food and let him come and go as he pleased. Only problem was the other feline resident of that house said he "waz a troublez maker and gotz fleese", so he couldn't stay unless his future Cousin Zuzu wasn't at home. When it seemed like he was in real trouble he asked to get away, and "Hackettspatch here I come!!" ;-)
Aw, what a story about Tigger's early life, GC. I had no idea he wasn't yours from the time he was a kitty.
Rebecka - My SIL who always calls and is a believer in talking, *wrote me a letter* about Tigger's condition. About 2 hours after I hung up with her arranging a holiday visit. Then 3 days later I'm telling my mom we have to go to Walmart to pick up a cat carrier before leaving the next morning for a 4 hour drive. The 4 hour drive back with a cat that seems like he needs a pit stop like mom does is a story in itself. The cat our of the carrier commandeered the car had his paws on the steering wheel when mom came back from her pit stop. True story.
So is him 7 days later getting caught lounging around the sofa when he said he wasn't coming out from under the bed. He wanted to know if I was "for real or not". I told him it was his home as well as mine so I guess he understood. The same night he jumped up on the couch to watch TV and literally hooked his elbow around my hand and wouldn't let go for the life of him. Thirteen years later and he was asking "what's your point, I'm the Lord Emperor of All That Is". ;-)
So yes, the guy had quite a history of additional details I won't even go into. But he came to me undernourished and with parasites and prior owners who totally were great one minute, and then cut him so loose I can't imagine what that college girl thought of the rest of her family. But when it comes down to it I knew Tigger as a marshmallow inside - what ever his Lewis Black exterior looked like.
Apparently something fascinating is going on behind the piano... wondering if I should be concerned!
I don't know what they got, but I bet it's TASTY!!!
Can I come over and harass that poodle while I'm at it?? As much as I love Bird-O-Vision here, I can't exactly get out to nail that finch I've got my eye on...
Something TASTY is what I'm worried about, White Shoes!
Poodle says to tell ya he can outrun a "measly cat" (his words, I'm quoting) any day.
I haven't seen a mouse in all the years I've lived in this house, 5cm, but I suppose there's always a first! I'm hoping it's just a harmless little spider or moth.... but they seem way too interested. They are still camped out there, with another cat on the other side of the piano.
The piano was delivered from the city. Hopefully a New York rat wasn't a stowaway!
OMG! Rats doing agility. Well that's a new one on me. That accompanying music is kind of perfect, too.
If the rat can jump over a little rat fence, he can stay.
Oooh, whatcha guys got? I can help catch stuff, I'm young and really fast and oh, my name's Lucy, I'm new in town. Hi!
Welcome to the neighborhood, Lucy! You're such a cutie pie! How do you like your brothers Socks and Romeo? Are they being good to you?
Whelp, Miss Rebecka, I been staying in the girls section of the house with Grammy and Punkin. I was told I need to meet everboddy all gradual like. Punkin is a bit uptight and doesn't like me running and playing all the time, but she's not too mean about it.
Romeo came visiting and we sniffed noses. Then another time, he came and sniffed my food and toys, and then he left! He didn't even look at me, it was like he didn't see my own self, I knew I was a ninja or maybe a baby panther, but I must be invisible or sumthin! The Mamas, they said to be careful around that creature called Socks. He does think I am a toy since I'm kind of small and fast and never stop moving. He did chase me good once, but he didn't catch me cause I'm fast!
You've got so many friends, Lucy! Lucky girl. Romeo is just playing hard-to-get, and Socks is just plain playin'. I bet you'll be curled up with Punkin in no time, too. You are just too cute. You look like you're still a wee kitty. <3
She is a wee kitty, actually Punkin's nickname is wee one, so it gets confusing. Lucy is probably around a year old, not sure of her current weight, but she's smaller than Punkin and has the tail of a full grown male cat.
She's so cute, when she hears me go in Mom's living room, she comes running because I always play laser pointer with her.
I'm looking around, and around, and looking around, and around.
Oh where could my Romeo be??
I did, I did. I looks real lo, I looks real high. And I still can't find my honey boo.....
Yes it does taste better coming out of the faucet - kitchen / bathroom whichever. I have one that will "talk" to me if the bathroom sink is not dripping ever so slightly.
I love your calico kitty.
@Rebecka....I just read your post from April. YIKES....been so busy. Thank you for concern. Unfortunately I had to put Chestnut down. He was rapidly losing weight and not eating or drinking. :'(
Anybody ever checked out this site ... lilbub's videos are serendipitous.
Can't I just get a day off for once? It's tough, the Day After Armageddon... I need a nice long snooze.
Sorry you had to go through that ordeal, Sugar.......Miss Kitty sends hugs but just does not understand why you get so upset with silly little things like Armageddon , lightening and thunder including horrendous hail storms...
Sophie says she's sorry too! Glad it's nice out now...she was with her babies and did not know we had a storm...lol
Sophie and Miss Kitty seem to have similar personalities and laid-back attitudes......They even lay on their backs the same...Usually when Miss Kitty does that, however, she wants a belly pet...I think they could give Sugar some lessons in "chilling"...
Meet Sable, one of our new adoptions (we got 3). Already has us wrapped around it's little paw!
For those who love calicos, like I do. Interesting calico cat facts.
Nora says thanks for the article Calico. She says everyone should know how special her breed is! They are wonderful cats.
I'm glad she enjoyed it Rebecka. I'm currently without a calico, since my dear Miss Scarlett passed away two years ago. :-(
At this point, we have decided to not go with any replacement pets going forward. Currently we have Daisy the dog (7) and the three cats, Lydia (7), Oliver (4) and Sabrina (2). So it's going to take awhile to be pet free, but we want to try it for a little bit to be free to travel etc. Who knows where it will go after that. It probably won't last. ;-)
Yeah.... thanks for that big basket of toys. This piece of waded up paper is my favorite.
I'm glad you gotz waded up paper, I like that too.
I gotz me flying bug. He's lookin' awful tasty, I'm telling you. Wanna share? I call drumstick, what part you want?? He's delicious.
i gotz purty yellow bird. he looks real tasty too!
Pretty sure this is my favorite thread ever. You kitties crack me up. I hope you will have another game of hide-and-seek sometime. I was dying laughing.
@ positive - Sammy and Dean have the same one. they LOVE being up really high and thinking they are taller than me. lol!
what a lucky kitty !
My brother surprised Scooby and ordered it from GoPetClub-Wayfair. They have a great selection of cat trees and the prices are fantastic for the quality. Here is the link if anyone is interested.....
I would love to get my cat something like that, just cant see paying that much. DH better get out the power tools and start building. Lol. Scooby is SPOILED. ;)
Lol bbu, that was the original plan in the begining...my husband was supposed to build a cat tree, but you know how that goes. Lol!
If it weren't for my brother (which I had no idea he ordered it) King Scooby would not have his throne.
overstock.com also has good prices on cat towers. that's where we got ours
I think you are right GC. When it was delivered and after my husband put it together we initially thought to ourselves wow this must have been very expensive. But after going on the website I soon realized it was quite reasonable for the quality and design.
You buy anything like that at either Petco or Petsmart and it would cost a lot more.
Azgirl69- I'd love to see a pic of your cat tree! Did you get it from the same place?
positive - I didn't say it wasn't expensive. I just said it would be even more if I tried to build it myself.
botheredbyuu2 - MDF is $35 a sheet. And you've got three six foot poles on top of the flat sections that have to be cat sturdy. Even if those are $10 each, with some cheap carpet remnants, you're at $75 worth of materials.
Still cheaper then buying and you do it for the love of your cat.
If you can get free wood, thats even better. ;)
A scaled down version of King Scoobys. Lol.
positive...wouldn't want my cat to see Scooby's castle. He would be putting it on his Christmas list. He has a climber now, but only 3 levels - he always goes for the top, typical cat!
Naw, shucks. [sigh]
We only gotz us a piddly plastic mini jungle gym. And my sister hogs that.
This is a kitten that my brother rescued recently and found a home for her. Her new family are still trying to come up with name for her.
I met her over the weekend and I have to say she is the cutiest most lovable kitten!
Nora in the puppy room, with her back to the pups... but watching their every move on the puppy cam on my laptop. Cats, you silly creatures... we couldn't make this stuff up.
Rebecca, if you read this again soon, what is the web site address for the puppy cam? I forgot to save the address and am in need of a puppy cam fix! Thanks!
The Poodle Association will soon be registering the web name iggyneedshelp.com for people willing to donate to the Poodle's mental health issues. Please. The need is clear and great...
lol...lol..lol...yes that's Sonny aka Baby. He was loose on the property and follows me around like a dog! Now, he goes to the front door and looks for the inside animals when I let him out of his field. No worries though, my property is all fenced in :-)!
Sonny almost ended up in the kitchen!! LOL....
Sophie Ann chirps to him...it's so cute!
And..BTW I'm still laughing at your post Rebecka about 'there's a horse at your front door'...struck me funny! I raised Sonny f/a baby and he acts more like a dog...follows me everywhere!
We need a Horsecatstown Life thread, and please kick it off, Summer, with a picture of Sonny at the kitchen table. I'm picturing him with a dinner napkin around his neck, and a knife and fork. Then what would Sophie Ann do!?
"what would Sophie Ann do??"
Are you kidding me. Make gazpacho!! Horses love carrots!!!
haha...Sophie Ann would take him in as another 'baby'...
don't let Sonny fool you, he helps clean up around the barn; here's pic to prove it!lol...(this was in Oct)
little off topic but fun :-)
I gotz a better game than hide and go seek for a Friday!! How about we play "Poo, or Not Poo!!".
You say something off the top of your head, and we all yell out whether we think that's either "Poo" or it's "Not Poo". First kitty to yell out gets to choose the next thing to vote on. It's Katz version of thumbs up or thumbs down.
I'll start it off, this is an easy one -
Iggy J. Snotmeister!!
Poo!!! Poo!!! Poo!!!
Every cat in the world knows Iggy is PPPPPooooooooooooo!!!
He's even a poo-dull..
Poodle Association disapproves! Shave that boy clean to the bone!
Doggie answer's don't count. Dill Pickles is a Rugrat, we all know that. Unless you're a dumb dog...
To think I had to interrupt a nice cat nap to reply to this Poo!!
Next topic is another easy one -- tuna fish surprise!!
did someone say tuna?!!
is it poo that the people make me drink out of a cup??? the big fluffy white dog gets a biiiiiiiiiiig water bowl, which i clean my paws in daily
*Make you drink out of a cup"?? That's poo!! Poo, I say!
But I don't think a cup is bad at all, I *love* a cup! Cups are cool. Cups = Not Poo!
Doggie water bowl = poo!! Darn right you clean your paws in it. Doggie poo! Bet that dumb dog doesn't even notice! Deservz it.
Positive - we have the first tower shown on the wayfair site - unfortunately purchased from petco for a higher cost than listed on the wayfair site - it's a great tower, our cats love it, pretty sturdy, easy to vacuum - only problem we've had is that the "carpet" on the scratching poles gets peeled away from the tube - of course, one of our cats loves to climb the poles like a gymnast, leaping with all four paws at once up the poles in two or three leaps - avoiding landing on the platform in order to leap higher on the poles! ... otherwise, ours is a well used (5 cats) tower that has stood up well and has plenty of options to sit or hide out - often four or even all five are on it at once
Are you kidding me? **Dog** spending the night in bed with the cats. That's just a huge oversized cat who wants to overcome the issues it was born with. Katz rulez! Dogz droolz!
That's a cat. Not poo!!
And obviously tuna surprise is NOT POO! We rockz... Tuna rulez...
Not enough kitty pictures. I'm gonna email all my friends and tell them to show all their great pictures. I'm totally glad Grandma Tuna gave me her laptop...
Maybe if y'all did something more interesting than sleep all day, we'd take more pics of you!
Barny doing what cats do best -->
one more step and doggy gets it!
Don't wait for that last step! Give it to him!! Whack him into next Tuesday! ;-)
Barney is not exactly a lightweight, Sugar. I can't say what he really is because he is reading what I type. But having him sleep on my arm for half an hour is, shall we say, not conducive to circulation in that arm. Now tell me how to break it to him that he has to move or my fingers will slowly die.
Gracie likes laps for hours- even if you need to head to the bathroom - she must be laughing to herself as you squirm
Do any of your kitties have cat towers, or cat trees?
Best deals or stores to purchase them?
I think Bambino would love it as he's a top notch climber :)
For future reference, though, my password is not 937 characters long.
Too funny Rebecka. Obviously, this is not my cat......but I thought it was pretty funny.
I'm sure there's a perfect caption for this shot, but I can't think of it (note what the box says).
where's the truth in advertising? it does say game and natural meats.....but the dang box is empty
--- HOW TO BUILD A CAT MAGNET ---
Get a spare table, a heating pad and some fuzzy blankets. Assemble these in front of a window. Sprinkle birdseed on the outside sill, and set the heating pad to low.
(This is where my kitties are spending most of the winter.)
p.s. to my friends at Pet Adoption League who read this: Wren is on the left here, and Nora is in the middle. We adopted both of these cats from you. Most notably, Wren was the one who was feral and didn't like to be approached at all, and had been with you I think for almost a year. She's doing great!
Rebecka - so glad Wren is doing well! Thank you so much for adopting her and giving her a great home. It's so wonderful to see Wren, Nora and Barney looking so content.
Espo - thank YOU for all you do for pets in need of forever homes! You and all the ladies at PAL are amazing.
Speaking of a particular kat, who I haven't seen around in a while...
Oh Romeo, you do know it's Valentines Day coming up??
Kitty hide-n-seek is the most entertaining thing on HL. JMHO. (Sugar that is a terrific hiding place.)
all 5 - in one place at the same time - Grace top left, Peanut top right, Pipsqueak middle, Sylvester bottom left, Buster bottom right
no hiders in this bunch -
Looks like you have your own cat magnet, 5cm! Your babies are beautiful. BUT I see that tigers are not represented in your cat clan, and I think you should call the nearest rescue to remedy this situation immediately. :-P
And the "kitties'" room is so pretty! What lovely colors and decor. Kinda jealous lol.
hey Rebecka - that 's my room ---- sort of ---and no need for tigers - Peanut has her stripes
It IS a dog sweater! I am borrowin' it. I think it makes me look kinda fancy.
Barny - It's purple and a bad Christmas party winner. You've turned into Iggy you deranged fake feline. Are you going to paint your nails to match??
I want to know -- do anyone else's cats like to wear sweaters??
Seriously, Barny cannot be the only one?
WS - I think Barny IS part dog. He follows me around like a puppy.
Rebecka - Tigger followed me around but it was because he was human, not a dog. As for sweaters I'm with 5catmom. They wouldn't know which to scratch mercilessly first - me or the sweater. It wouldn't be pretty for either...
Sabrina has a sweater and a flannel coat. She loves them both. I will have to get pictures of her wearing them.
Barney - I've got a sweater too! I was so matted when I was rescued that they had to have me shaved down. Oh well, it's a bit embarrassing but at least I'm warm!
Embarrassing? You make that sweater look GOOD, kitty!
And it's better than being all matted. And your fur will grow back. And you'll get a nice warm home and family to love you.
Need to share this with fellow cat lovers: I recently saw one of the saddest scenes of my life. I have a spare table set up with a heating pad in front of a window for our cats to enjoy. There were a few on it late one evening, and they were staring intently out the window. There, on the ledge outside, was a stray/feral cat, in the frigid cold, sitting in the darkness looking in at our cats, and it's just like he *knew* they were warm and safe and fed. I felt SO bad. I've been feeding him and trying to trap him in a Hav-a-Heart, but he just won't go in the trap. It has always worked for other ferals who have come to us (and we adopted) but not this one. I've tried tuna, sardines, canned cat food of course, but nothing lures him in. I thought my heart was going to break for him the other night. I just wanted to scoop him up and hug him and bring him and take care of him... but he always runs when he sees us, and he is obviously suspicious of the trap. Any suggestions? No reason not to keep feeding him in the meantime, right? I mean the poor thing, I don't want him to go hungry. Not sure what he would be eating/catching with all this standing snow...
Espo - I apologized for Barny. Really I do. We ALL do! He's been living with too many dogs for too long.
Rebecka - Mowse. Today is perfect time for mowse running around. Mowses run around by bushes trying to get into garages with lotsa stuff. I say gives new kitty mowses. He can has mowseburger with cheese.
In fact, I think I see one now...
White Shoes I do hope you are right about the mowse, however, we would like to catch the big guy to bring him to the vet. I know, yuck, right? But we want to at least get him his shots and make sure his carousing (kitty-producing) days are behind him. And maybe he would like a nice home to live inside, instead of being out in the cold all winter.
I've just been PM'd that we should try a drop trap, and we will be lent one. Cross your paws that this works!
Rebecka - I hope you are able to catch the kitty and that he/she is ok...........a friend just caught the one that was crying under her house - thought it was feral - two days later she is petting and playing with her ----hoping the kitty is found healthy by the vet and that it finds a great home ---- let us know how you do.............
This just in - the official HackCATStown weather forecast:
White with a 100% chance of Snoozefest!!
My sister gotz 9 million yoga poses, but I don't think that's one of them. Cause what ever you call it, it's NOT working...
My little Nikki as a kitten. She's still under a year old and now weighs 10 lbs. She is now on a diet!
I find cat comments lively and informative, never fresh. And I comment here all the time...
Sorry, not buying it.
Sylvester wants to know if you are seriously serious - - said this is far too juvenile a conversation for a cat of his stature
I'm entering to win a years worth of Bacon!! Seriously. Do you like my entry??
Visit Friskies.com/Bacon #CatDreamsComeTrue
Thanks, GC, for posting the picture of my cat, Miss Kitty...she does not get her picture on Hackettstown Life too often as her Mommy is not very good with taking pictures and posting...Miss Kitty is Birman/Ragdoll and is now about 12 years old. She is a beauty with big "blue" eyes and the love of my life...
Barny is no fun at all... Besides, I'm gonna win the bacon to share with my friend.
I'm 9 months pregnant and due in a week. My little Amelia decided to have her 1st heat cycle. I had enough of her shaking her little tush in front of of my extremely oversized Rottweiler puppy, and meowing like a crazy kitty. Took her to get spayed and brought her home this morning. What does she do in the 1st 20 mins? Take out 1 suture and almost another because she wanted to groom herself. What does she get in return? The lovely e-collar. I feel so bad for her wearing this and she is not a happy camper. Although, I will admit, it is slightly funny watching her run into things w/it. Hopefully she heals quickly!
Why not to allow cats in kitchen:
1) they jump on counters;
2) they sit on your crescent rolls pretending they are helping to keep them warm.
Naughty, naughty kitty. Kitchen door will once again remain closed...
I shooed him away, and in the time it took me to post that ------->
He's back. Unbelievable. 10lbs of potatoes in a 5lb bag.
Barny getting time out now.
No jumping up on the fridge? No climbing around the cabinets??
Tisk, tisk, tisk. Barney, you need to be training your humanz better than that...
Back in March I posted about a sad stray kitty looking in at our cats warm and cozy, and she wouldn't go into a trap. I've been feeding her and gaining her trust ever since.
Today I pet her and even picked her up for the first time. It should be a matter of days before I can get her to the vet.
Ps just as a PSA: if you have cats, and you handle a stray cat, be sure to wash your hands and consider changing your shirt before going near your own cats. Feline Leukemia is very transmissible. I knew to do this only because I worked in wildlife rehab.
To fellow cat aficionados - this is too good not to share - "13 Reasons Cats are Basically Magic:"
Not too hot, not too cool. Not horribly sticky. It's beautiful... We officially declare:
Cats do have the life - I'd like a SNOOZEFEST too.
and it is wonderful sleeping weather!
Dear Sugar and White Shooz,
I am concerned about you sleeping 23.75 hours out of the day, and I think this has affected your waistlines. If I may make a suggestin to your daddy, he should get a cat tredmill and strap yer tails on for much needed exercize.
Love and kisses,
Ig Schnizl -
We don't buy your phoney cat club, or your xrsize. Strapping down someone's tail is just plain nasty you mean poodle. We don't sleep nearly as much as you thinkz, we Ninja Katz, we gonna gitch you in the middle of the night.
Go ahead, just sleep for a few minutes tonight....
PS. You gotz fleeze, you needz bath. Order of the Association...
S&W - a bath IS on Iggy's calendar for today! How did you know?
Guess who's in the big dog crate here! The stray cat I've been trying to get my hands on for MONTHS! Finally got her and she has a vet appt. for tomorrow. Really hoping she is FIV & Leuk negative, and we can get her her shots and all tuned up, and find her a good home.
Rebecka - Seriously. They are cats, he is a dog. What day do you think is the one when they *don't* think he needs a bath....
I think we needz special Facebook just like Cats of Reykjavik.
Anybody gotz good header picture of a bunch of katz? Maybe 5catmom?
I know we gotz to like other things like Tuna & HackCATStown Pet & PAL and stuff.
So much to do, so little time in between Snoozefest...
Can everybody see this:
Thanks, Sugar, I just "liked" your Facebook page but you know, I "like" both you and White Shoes very much. Affectionately,: Miss Kitty
We invites all da kitties from here to keep in touch. And we wanna help out PAL and rescues too. We liked Starkist and CatChow and Hackettstown Pet and everything.
Daddy made friends with Reykjavik kitties and we need to learn Icelandic now...
Getz Barney to post his picture Rebecka, he's crazy but he's one of us. Buster & Peanut. And Chuckie over by us. Our buddy Bootz. We all gotz to be big friends now.
White shoes, I gotz white shoes too, and so does our buddy Bootz, he's polydactyly and gotz real thumbs, and the other neighbor around the way gotz white shoes but we don't know her name and then there's another kitty in PA at our kuzints that got all white shoes but he's gotz all white body too cause that's why he's Snowball and EVERYTHING!!!
OK. So I ramble a bit. I'm going back to bed.
Nora, who hops in the tub after the water has drained from my bath. And just sits there looking silly. Is she expecting her own bubble bath?
Hope everyone has checked out GC's Facebook page - HackCATStown..It has quite a few posts and comments already...Be sure to share a picture on there of your favorite feline too.
Click on the link that GC posted above, Spring Fever and you can view the Facebook page...even if you are not a member...
I want to be on record saying that I do not have Facebook. I tried that once for about 1 hr and was innundated by friend requests from business people I would never do business with. So I do not have Facebook. *Sugar* does. It should be made as a "Community" page so open to the public for us mere humans. ;-)
Nora appears to have woken up this morning possessed by unseen forces, and with three out of her four paws in some parallel universe. Any suggestions on how to bring her back, or is she just enjoying her hopefully temporary trip into outer space?
No. Just a couple of yoga mats. Seriously. That's just the "I see massive Blue Fin" pose. Relax and join in on the Snoozefest that follows. All is right in the Land of HackCATStown.
Sugar is a Yoga master. She teachers the others things like this. She knows. She tells me so. Who am I not to believe??
OMG that's too funny. That is one relaxed cat. Does he let you pet his belly, Lynnada?
Yes, he does let me pet the belly a little. He's Mom's cat, totally adores her, follows her around like a puppy. He's wary of me, mostly because I have a giant dog that follows me most of the time.
Omg DH and I just died laughing @Sabrina. Is it warm up there or something? Cats are amazing. How did she get up on that narrow space and position herself... all without knocking the coffee maker over...?
Yes, she seeks out everything remotely warm. A real heat miser. She jumps from the kitchen table up onto the top of the refrigerator (which is right next to that shelf) and then onto the coffee maker. Even funnier is that the refrigerator is a built-in and there is only about 3 1/2 inches that stick out for her to land on.
I've seen Sugar squeeze into 2 inches of open window just to be able to sit on the sill and look at Bird-O-Vision. They can do even more miraculous things, they just won't show us humans.
Romeo once laid balanced on a metal railing, that was only about 1 inch wide and it wasn't even flat.
Lucy can flatten herself out to get under furniture that is about 2 inches from the floor.
Cody can open most doors in our house and sometimes even manages to close himself in the bathroom. He can't get out because he can only reach up and pull down the lever handle and push the door open, so if the door needs to be pulled towards him, he can't do that - yet.
Boo Boo and Buddy have beautiful markings, jennymc. Thanks for posting the picture of our Miss Kitty. She loves all of the attention she gets when she sees you heading towards her with your camera...
Everyone: you need to stop whatever you're doing and watch the Cats v. Zombies video.
There's 2:18 of my life I can never get back again. ;-)
PS - Sugar = ninja clothes, not camo.
Farewell??? Why farewell? I hope not...
Buster does not look like a senior cat, 5cm. Is that a recent photo? I think you said he was 18? He looks much younger.
I had to have him euthanized today..................Actually the pix was relatively recent - you can't see how bony he was - several issues had developed and sadly it was just time..........
You're our hero Buster!! Luvz ya and be good friends with Romeo and Tigger!
RIP big boy, we just see you later.
I am so sorry 5catmom!
I am sure the timing was just right for him.
He obviously had a good long life.
So sorry for your loss of Buster, 5catmom. I remember when you told us about how he made special friends with a new kitty when you adopted her... what a sweet cat. RIP beautiful boy.
Oh so sorry. Buster is beautiful and I am really sorry he had any difficulties. Hardest thing I ever did with my baby 2 years ago.
Sorry for your loss 5catmom. I have four and one is 23 years old so his time will be soon
Once more I will say to you, 4catmom, how sad I am for the loss of your beautiful cat, Buster. He has gone over the rainbow bridge but you can bet he will be watching over you and his other family of cats all the time. R.I.P. Buster...
Thanks for the kind thoughts - I'd had him since October 1998 - long time.......... It's an awful loss but it was time........................
meanwhile this beautiful boy has been left in a townhouse on my block - his mom moved out and left him - and a bunch of stuff -- neighbors feed and pet him - and report that he is sweet and affectionate - and neutered - around 5 years old --- can anyone help??? Mittens is desperate for a home
So sorry about Buster, such a painful thing losing a fur baby. Hugs to you my friend!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MORE----they'll outlive me-----But someone out there would love to meet him.............contact me and I'll put you in touch with the neighbor who has been feeding him....
This cat is so freakin' lucky that kitty spankings are not a 'thing.' If ever a cat did deserve one...
Cute photo of your naughty cat, Rebecka!
Note: For some reason when I click on the photo to see it enlarged, the enlargement appears sideways. I haven't seen that happen before.
Happened to me too, jd2 but it is a darn cute picture upside down or sideways....just hope no kitty spankings were involved...
HackCATSTown Find the Kitty in the Picture Contest
Hide and Go Tuna! ;-)
We don't know from Facebook. It's all just too much for us. We only even remember to go on there every month or six around here.
I see you, though... you can't hide from me!
Petra + Isabel. Love at first sight. I realized we had one kitty who would likely make friends with a mouse given the opportunity, so I brought Petra in to see the bunny.
When they were done hopping and playing all around the room (including Isabel chasing the cat out of her "house" which was pretty priceless), they literally curled up next to each other and slept. Inter-species fun. Gotta love it.
A bunny, but nobody got me a bunnny, we could play and run around and go hoppedy hop hop and be best friends and go hide and seek and jump on the sister just like me and Sugar do cause she hides in the tree skirt because its red and fuzzy which is a good snoozing spot but I don't know if a bunny is gonna hide there because they're fuzzy to begin with but I could still have fun and go ninja on the big lump of bunny underneath, Tag You're IT, and EVERYTHING!!!
OK. So I ramble a bit. But I'd still be a good sister for a bunny.
Note to Santa: Please bring White Shoes and Sugar a gift certificate to attend KITTY OBEDIENCE SCHOOL... Thank you....
OMG why is that so funny. DH and I just laughed for 10 mins at that pic.
WS I think your daddy should get you an 18-lb. French Lop rabbit. That way, if you were to misbehave (which, I apologize, seems likely) your long-eared friend could just sit on you.
White Shoes, that picture looks like the smack the sister in the face game, lol.
Our 3 cats have several interesting games like that. Cody particularly likes the jump over the sister game. The sisters don't particularly like it, especially when he does it while they are walking away from him.
Lynnada - "smack the sister in the face game" - You play it too!?! Bop on nose! Bop on nose!! ;-)
Rebecka - The pic hits a bit close to home??? As for Big Bunny there, me and Sugar can take him. He'll be tasty...... Oops, my sister didn't want me to say that.
Pictures, Lynnada, Pictures!
*Close* to home? The dog vs. cat funny IS our home, and like 24/7/365! :-P
And sorry Shoes, in a wrestling match, my money would be on Gigantobunny.
If Petra ever decided Isabel looked "tasty," I'm pretty sure Isabel could just fly away.... -->
Pictures!? You can never get photographs of ninjas in action! By the time I grab the phone and open up the photo app, they're gone!
Isabel's ears certainly make her look like she could just flap, flap, flap and fly away, lol. She is pretty cute tho. Love the pics of the interspecies friendship.
In Japan, you can now get cat forehead scented spray.
Obviously, we all need to pack up our kitties immediately and head to the island where they have their priorities in order.
Cat people.....I need help!
I am looking to purchase one of those cat condo/tower type playhouse deals for my "kids" for Christmas. I prefer to shop online, since I hate stores an shopping. Anyway, does anyone have brand, store or type recommendations? It's so hard to tell online what might be cheesy etc. I don't want something that is going to fall apart in 6 months or tip over while they are playing on it. I'm looking at spending around $100.
Thanks for any help.
I purchased my cat condo at Big Lots in Phillipsburg. Great price just under $100.00. Cat condo has multi levels. It is easy in and out and no shipping charge.
The top level is at window height so my guys can watch the "happenings" in the neighborhood.
Wayfair.com. Cool selection and the ones I've gotten I've been happy with. They do sell all different manufacturers, but they're probably all made in the same factory in China though, anyway!
I've actually purchased quite a few cat trees in my day. None have fallen apart. The only reason we change them up is because after a couple years they have been torn to shreds (and barfed on too many times) by their occupants. Even if you try to keep them clean, after a couple years they just look awful. Or wait... maybe that's just because of the number of cats we have! Your cat condo might be fine for a decade.
eBay has a wide selection too, and I've purchased from sellers there. Bang for buck is great, but just sifting through the thousands of listings can be overwhelming. So now I just use Wayfair.
Here is one I purchased several years ago that I liked. Within your budget (definitely don't need to spend more than $100), and quality was fine.
Note that one of these can take over a room. Not very attractive but the cats will be in 7th heaven (so worth the trade-off for us).
Rebecka - Wayfair looks to be the way to go for me. Free shipping if ordered by Friday. I will have to confer with Horatio this evening regarding the measurements of where I want to put it.
tidy - Thanks for the info on Big Lots, but I'm steering clear of P'burg and everywhere else until Christmas is over. LOL
Thanks again Rebecka, I ordered this one.
Wait 'til the box arrives! It's actually 2 gifts in one... they'll think you got them both a condo *and* a ranch.
Calico, love the condo - they are gonna love it.
John C, I want a Topper too.....next kitty go round I'm getting a calico or 2. What a cutie - enjoy
Topper is so cute!!!! I love her picture. You are a lucky family to have her.
Hey, Topper isn't allowed here.....I'm the only Calico. ;-)
She is absolutely adorable! I love her cute little face.
Bessie - I will post some pics when the new "gymnasium" is up and running.
Look at Topper's little pink toes! Please indulge us with many pics of this adorable new HacCATStownian when she arrives? Bet Tyler's going to do a backflip when he sees her!
Fuzz and friend playing on cat tower, Bessie. Well, at least Fuzzy is trying to play. His girlfriend is not being cooperative, and is ignoring his play-swipes at her.
though no longer with us, Buster wishes all a Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year
Merry Tunamas everyone!! I hope Sandy Paws brought lots and lots of Itty Bitty Pretty Kitty Witty treats. I was a good girl and I'm gonna have some right NOW!!
The cat tree is presently under construction. Hope to post some pics later.
Merry Christmas to all the HL Kitties!
I'm sad to report there has not been much activity in/on the cat tree/condo yet. Lydia and Oliver seem petrified of it. Sabrina sat on it for a few minutes and played with the dangling rope, but that's about it. Hopefully it will catch on in time.
Perhaps if you sprinkle some catnip or treats atop the cat tree/condo, the cats will come around. Our cat bonded to her condo with the aid of spray catnip, but that was a very long time ago.
Thanks Courtney. I actually sprayed it with the catnip spray last night. I have also put some of their toys on a couple different levels. I think they just need some time to get used to it.
I'm looking forward to seeing the pictures when they do.
Calico - hopefully they are at least enjoying the box it came in, in the mean time, lol. Our cats enjoy our small cat condo to look out the window and watch the birds. Mom will feed the bird to "turn on" the cat tv. So if it's near a window putting some food out for the birds may help.
That's exactly what I do, Lynnada! Keeps them busy throughout the winter. Is your condo at a window, Calico?
If all else fails, you could resort to getting a couple rowdy German Shepherds. They'll be in their tree in no time.
@Sugar - Santa Claws must be blissfully unawares when it comes to your behavior.
It's not near the window. I might eventually move some things around to put it by the window if interest doesn't increase. Sabrina is enjoying the basket though.
Calling all cats and cat lovers! There is a serious cat hoarding issue going on next door to me and I need your help. I'm so tired, have been trying to get help for these cats since May and no one's listening to me or helping. They're suffering. Maybe some of you might have better luck finding someone to help them. I'm at my wits end. This isn't in Hackettstown, it's in Belvidere. (I'm sorry...we don't have a forum.) If you're interested, e-mail me and I'll give you all the details, who, where, what, etc. The authorities aren't doing anything. But maybe if more people besides me call, they will do something. I think my one voice by itself is too quiet. Thank you for reading.
Hi Deeply Concerned.Have you tried called NJ ASPCA or Common Sense for Animals. I'm so sorry you are witnessing this alone. The Barn Yard rescue has cats but I think are more focused on farm animals. Please keep calling the animal control and maybe take some photos for evidence. Also contact a local paper like Warren Reporter to see if they will run a story. Last resort call a local tv station and see if they will investigate and give more light to this distressing situation. I live in a complex full of feral and unwanted cats. So I really do empathize with you.
If you have already tried NJSPCA and your local ACO, have you also tried police dept? Have you tried some of the bigger organizations, HSUS, Alley cat Rescue, Best Friends network? Even St Huberts may at least be able to give you some advice and contact info. I have been working with stray and feral cats for 22 years, and it is heartbreaking and frustrating. God bless you for caring.
These people built their cat an honest-to-goodness castle.
(Caution: you will feel guilty about not building your cats one of these. I know I do.)
@dankster - I emailed 'deeply concerned' immediately to find out how I/we on HL could help, but never heard back. :-( Maybe aspca is on it now.
Oh crap, my cats just posted on Facebook HackCATStown that I have to build something like that.
Although I must say, I do like how those people gave Jenkins such a great space in their closet. His initial reaction is just exactly how I would imagine Tigger would have been. Can't you imagine him looking that over, turning right around to walk away saying "Stupid humans ruined a perfectly good living room, I'm going back to bed."?
Omg I must have an orange one! Just kidding actually because I have thee already. But if I ever get another one it will be orange or whatever they're called.
Adorable, John C!
Nora wishes everyone a very happy weekend, while demonstrating how she winds up falling upside-down off the table.
Nora amazes me...How can she be in that position and fall and not hurt her head when she lands? Maybe she was a acrobat in another life?
Does anyone else have cats who *insist* on "helping" to unpack your groceries?
These two are unstoppable. They must inspect every single thing that comes out of the bags, and they will not be dissuaded, shooed, or even lured away with a dish of delicious wet food.
Rather in the way!
Hey Human - you gotz point?
You need help with your shopping bags? We're there...
Hmmmmm. Decisions, decisions. Be nice and just join in on the snoozerfest. Or take a flying leap and whomp the crap out of my sister.
Decisions, decisions. HackCATStown dilemma...
Oh how verysweet! Brings back memories of so many rescued kittens, usually with no mommas. Believe itr not, it was usually my male cats that made the best surrogate moms.
I ate daddy's habenero Thai food, now I'm pooping razor blades.
He wants me on http://shameyourpet.com/, I want him on Judge Judy...
Meanwhile.......out in the tool shed here in Strasburg PA some fresh mousers to help out in the future!
I wish mine was so calm and relaxed to be lazy.
The rain starts hitting the window panes and it goes so dark so fast you think it's an eclipse, Sugar then yells at the top of her lungs "It's the End of Days, run for your lives" before cowering over to the mud room and hiding behind the washer.
Maybe Sugar can borrow some of your kitties' Prozac...
OK fine, so rain f*&^#@$ sucks, and I hate f*&^#@$ thunder, and keep your *@! ^#%! pelting against the windows. So I'm calm now, and so how was YOUR day??? I freaking love you too...
Hey - my brats want to know when Grandma Tuna is coming to see them. They are quite peeved that she hasn't been by yet.
Nope. She's all ours. ;-)
But try dialing 1-800-KAT-TUNA. They deliver to your front door. Pay no attention to the delivery animal, just hand over the credit card.....
I love cats. I have several. Just now I looked outside and saw an orange and white cat with a collar with a chipmunk dead in its jaws. Near Canal Lane and Hills of Independence condos. I feed birds and chipmunks and don't want them eaten by cats.
Please keep your cats inside. Peace.
Everybody tell Miss Kitty she looks trendy and 'cool' in her sporty new summer cut.
Cause she don't look all that happy about it......
Miss Kitty (above picture) was taken by JennyMc this afternoon while visiting and to try to cheer her up and tell her how beautiful she still was. No more long mane and hair for a while but it will grow back and she will be much cooler. She really is a bit embarrassed however!
Obviously, the dogs are being provided with water superior to that which can be found in the cat bowls.
Does everybody has their decorations up? We was helpin. What color comes next daddy? I got the light brown right here...
Oh White Shoes, I'm not sure how helpful you were...
Barny and Petra were too exhausted after a day of doing nothing but eating and lounging to volunteer their decorating services.
Not to worry, I did the snoozefest thing too. Only someone shined a big bright light in my face for a second. Naughty human...
Meanwhile on the farm... Nora attempts to turn the dog walk into a hike in the woods. (She really *really* wanted us to go exploring in the forest.)
Rebecka - If I didn't know better, from that picture I would have said someone just landed a pretty good right cross. ;-)
No one can see me right? 'Cause it's a Trader Joe's bag and that makes it magic (and me invisible)... I'm pretty sure.
I know that I seen Sandy Paws nose around here somewhere. But I can seem to find it again. Where'd it go, where'd it go??
Nobody says no to Tuna!! Our friends Shilo and Abby are gonna come over and bring some. They gotz brother Fluffy too. (Brother Fluffy?? There's something human with that picture)
There's gonna be a party at our house tonight!!
We'll wait right here, feel free to take a run at the little birdies out on the deck before giving the secret knock!
I put on music and we getz the paw-tay dancin' started -
Everybody clap your paws!! - cha cha cha cha cha cha
Everybody clap your paws!! - cha cha cha cha cha cha
They're on our deck because daddy puts out the bird feeder and we watch!!
We already gotz first party guest. It's our neighbor, Bootz! He's mayor now and he's gonna teach us to do the horsie!! ;-)
What is the horsie?
I assume all my cats are at the party while I'm away. Or hosting it...?
On another note, does anyone else miss their animals so much on vacation, that you seek out local animals to pet? (This is our new friend Wahoo. She is a very happy old cat who lives in a beachside resort. Kind of envious of Wahoo's lifestyle.)
Rebecka - Apparently "The Horsie" is a dance. The cat that lives behind me came over during the "paw-tay" and taught them all. ;-)
As for what happens while you're away, if you weren't hosting a paw-tay, you are now!!!
As for vacations, I find it's the other way around. I get pets that seek me out. And I don't just mean the monkeys in Gibraltar or cats in Reykjavik. This is a cat that wanted me to help it find some shade in Spain.
Please follow up with a) pic of monkeys on your shoulders in Gibraltar; or, b) pic of Sugar doing The Horsie.
No one said the monkey was on my shoulders. ;-)
But then again Gibraltar monkeys don't need much encouragement either.
Oh no, we've got a doggieboo in our midst of HackCATStown!
You may snooze at your doggie paw-tay because it's so boring, but we has dances and play all sorts of ring around the cat tunnel games, and we has FUN!! Itty Bitty Pretty Kitty Witty Treats for EVERYONE!
But poor doggie Booboo, not invited, and wouldn't even know the password when he showed up at the door. Oh Boo who? You just go right ahead with your nap Snoozerboo. ;-)
Uh, I think I gonna be on shameyourpet.com -
I stole one of Grandma Tuna's presents out of the cupboard and ate the whole thing up. Only it wasn't as good as I thought so I returned some of it. Daddy didn't look so happy this morning...
Oh, the famous return-the-food cat trick... just lovely, Sugar. Hey, at least you can say you had a relatively productive day. For a cat. Hope you are sleeping your belly ache off.
It's not even "return" since I didn't exactly "give" it to her to begin with...
Welcome to my world.
Good job!! Now purrfect your bunched up snoozer roll...
That's it, snoozefest, I'm there.
Welcome, baby kitty! Don't forget to work on your Big Nudge snoozypositions too. There are countless ways to be a Big Nudge, but here is one of my favorites.
White shoes that site was very funny. My mommy said if I ever bite her ankles again she will post it on there. From DanTe but I only answer to :Kitty:
Miss Kitty to White Shoes: How embarrassing for you to have a sister that does that sort of thing!!! You can have Bubba bring you over to my house if it gets too vulgar over there...
Oooh, DanTe - you gotz bag? I love me a bag. All I gotz is a cat tunnel that's gone all collapsible on me. What for humanz make bad tunnels??
Joyful - You can tell Miss Kitty not to feel so bad, White Shoes once decided Sugar's return looked tasty. She almost ended up on shameyourpet.com herself.
RAS - Elmer Fudd diction classes? Just a guess there.
Lynnada - Looks like your new addition is making fast friends.
My mommy brings in the bags and I jump in and hide. One time she was leaving for a trip and left the carry on bag open. I snuck in but she caught me. :(
Humanz. They call it a "carry on" and then they don't "carry on". Silly. Who can understand them?
Lucy Furr - Well, I don't like her! I've got my eyes open cause I don't trust that little growler, hrmph! I'm the little one and Cody's BFF here!
Attn: Jennakitty - be sure to keep an eye out for laundry baskets and hampers... aka hiding/snoozenests.
Here is an article I found which claims there are just five cat personality types. I was skeptical until I was able to place every cat I've known in one of the categories!
(Worth it for the GIFs alone.)
Ps Sugar - pretty sure I've got you pegged.
What's your point, human? Everybody knows I'm Ninja Kitty...
Did you know there's only 5 kinds of humanz?? So where's the web site for that one?
PS Rebecka - pretty sure I've got you pegged
Yeah, Rebecka. Your comment and the bumpus in the rumpus from the lady in the white coat have really made my day. Can I go back to snoozin' now?
Daddy? Who do you think arranged their bumpus in the rumpus to begin with? I'm not exactly Mr Popularity today with HackCATStown.
As for a bunny, they'd only eat him. ;-)
But Daddy, I'm **helping** you decorate by moving furniture around. Seriously. I've got a reason to be up here...
Two sleeping beauties! So precious.
@WS - perfect spot. (Cats always need to supervise the goings-on, don't they?)
Hey Sugar, it's on!!!
I think all of HackCATStown is now Keeping Up With The Kattarshians. I know we are. I gotz to say, of all places to be for Snoozefest, near the Arctic Circle is purrfect!!! Snoozefest started in November and won't be done until March. Yeah!!
Rebecka - What do you mean "supervise"?? Are you forgetting we own you?
Is that a live kitty broadcast? (I clicked on it but it's just dark now - sleepytime for the cats, I guess?)
Rebecka - What's "sleepytime" when it's dark all day long in Iceland? It's broadcast 24 hrs and I saw them sleeping with the lights on so I'm not sure why it would be dark. Right now they're in the middle of the day and someone's playing with them. Very active. And very funny.
It's a very standard YouTube live cam. Each of the 3 cameras has its own YouTube page. If you can't see the other one, try this link:
Ok now I can see them! That is the cutest live cam I've ever seen. The kitty house designed for them is awesome.
How much collective time are we humans going to spend watching the kittens play, though? It's part of the larger plot by cats to take over the world. I'm sure of it.
The "Kattarshians" is the best show *EVER*!!
I like the house too, that park bench rocker out in the "yard" must be lots of fun. They've got one of those "cat cocoons" too, not so sure about that one. But the cat sized egg chairs down stairs are tops! I want to get a pair of those for us.
Rebecka - Watch very closely. Keep your eyes on the shiny coin. Back and forth, back and forth. You're getting sleepy.......
I overheard something about a puppy. Therefore, I will be in this box for the next 8 months or so. If you need to reach me, you know where to look.
It's a perfect day to Keep Up with the Kattarshians!! There's a whole new season. Now we've got Hekla, Katla, Vigdís, Bubbi, and Þór. What a great day in HackCATStown!!
I was hoping the kitty parents of HackCATStown life could help me out... I'm kitty sitting for my neighbors and one of the sweet baby girls needs to take a pill everyday.
They showed me how they do, but she's not having it with me. I've had success hiding it in her food that I could get her to lick off my fingers, but as of this morning she got wise to my trick. I've googled how to give a cat a pill and she hides well enough that I can't pick her up. She licks the food off my fingers while she is hiding in her tunnel or under their bed.
I can't just hide it in her food dish as her sister may get the pill and not her...
Doggiemomma isn't used to the kitty smarts! I can hide my dogs pills in anything and it goes down in a gulp. I'm sure White Shoes will have a comment on that!
Any suggestions on something I can hide the pill in that would potentially be irresistible???
I don't know of any delicious substance that will hide a pill from a cat. They make a syringe-type pill-giver thing for cats. You might need something like that. I got mine at my vet.
Ever try giving a 22 lb cat a pill that they didn't want??
Clearly no cat misses a pill in their food. Even if they eat it by accident it gets spit out immediately. For sure the pill gun is the only thing that's even close to effective. After you pull the trigger on it, you tickle their throat to get them to swallow. I know, I had to do that with Tigger. And he was a big boy who most certainly was IN CONTROL!! I needed patience, but the pill gun would work so long as he eventually opened his mouth. He tried not to but you have to wait it until until the need to breath takes over. ;-)
This method has always worked for me (don't listen, White Shoes):
Casually pick up kitty, wrap her in a towel so her paws can't fight you, open her mouth and place pill down as far as you can. Quickly close her mouth, and gently blow in her face. This forces her to swallow. Of course, you need to have pill & towel ready & hidden out of sight before "luring" her in. Good luck.
Be sure to give the kitty a little syringe of water right after the pill. This ensures that the pill is not stuck in his/her esophagus and will prevent accidentally choking on it.
You can also see if a liquid version of the medication is available if giving the pill is virtually impossible.
Just try to be patient – it's not an easy task with most kitties!
We use Greenies pill pockets for cats. Pop that bad boy in close and my kitty gobbles it up.
You can try hiding it in baby food, any meat variety (chicken, turkey, beef, etc) check the label, make sure it's just meat and water. Cats usually really like it. You can try crushing the pill up and mixing it with a teaspoon or 2 of baby food. Pill pockets work sometimes too. You have to change it up, since cats are smart and don't like taking pills. Lol.
When Nadine and Romeo were alive, Nadine was a sniff alert pill detector. When they both had to take the same pill, Nadine would go over give the food a quick sniff and then alert Romeo by burying the food. Of course, then neither of them would touch it. Thankfully, Romeo was smart enough, that whenever we had to give him a pill, he came to realize, we wouldn't leave him alone until he took it. He would usually just swallow it, even if I didn't get it far back in his mouth. For Nadine, we needed the pill gun along with heavy clothing and winter gloves as armor.
Thank you all for the help! I'm still using the "put some food" on my fingers method but I've been mixing it up with what I use - over the weekend it was tiny hot dog bits lol. I'm kind of surprised it worked, but I was able to smoosh the pill into it to hide it enough I guess. She only needs to take 1/4th of the pill twice a day so it helps that it's tiny.
Her family returns tomorrow night, but since they say it's even difficult for them to get her to take it, I'm feeling pretty good about my success rate so far.
Here is the pretty girl pill taker...
And I am Paige, stealth kitty. Normally when my parents go away and they ask the crazy dog lady to kitty sit me I hide as much as possible.
But I decided to give her a chance and let her do my bidding (aka pet me). At least those silly dogs trained her to pet well... she gives good ear scritches so I guess she's not all bad.
Can we watch "The Kattarshians" now??
PS Paige is definitely secret Ninja kitty. Don't let them know, then launch the hidden attack at night!!
He's been sitting there, unmoving, with his eyes closed for 10 minutes.
Pretty sure he's sleeping.
If you really think so, try having a cat treat in your hand and watch how fast Grasshopper takes if from your closing hand.
******* Special Weather Statement for HackCATStown NJ *******
The Kitty Weather Service in Mt Hairball NJ has determined due to strong sunlight and pleasantly furry conditions, there is a 95% chance of dangerously cute napping, dozing off, and outright sleep. High expectations of snoring, REM alpha waves, and dreaming.
Due to the dangerous conditions, the KWS has no other alternative than to make an official declaration of SNOOZEFEST!!! Act accordingly.
I love Barney. I hope to have an orange kitty some day! Got too many at the moment though.
Due to the dangerous conditions, the KWS has no other alternative than to make an official declaration of SNOOZEFEST!!! Act accordingly.
Oh Sugar, I wish this applied to humans!!!! I want snoozefest....
dadogmomma - What for humanz no gotz Snoozefest? My sister is still shaking her head over that one. From what us katz see, we think you gotz plenty of Snoozefest - like Oscars.
Rebecka - Yeah, don't all those weather statements seem to come from Mt Hairball? That's a suburb on the NJ side right over the bridge from Phurradelphia PA.
Barney - you look just like my sister right there, she's Ninja, she waits and then STRIKES!!! Don't let them catch on.
Sugar's weather futurecat was right on target. The little ninjas are sprawled out everywhere.
I want to name our little mountain Mt. Hairball. How fitting that would be. Still chuckling....
Rebecka - OMG, it looks like Barney fell asleep while playing "bop on nose". That's White Shoes favorite game. Last I knew your little mountain was called "House of G*d". Personally, I'd say just stick with what you know otherwise you're counting on a George Burns version of "Oh, G*d" style sense of humor if you switch to Mt Hairball.
We do count on that sense of humor!
We also hope Sugar our local Weather Forecatter will give us predictions for Tues. (Do we need to stock up on tuna, for example?)
Went out to dinner and had a huge shrimp cocktail that I could not finish. Brought home two jumbos, chopped them up and gave them to the cat. With a shivering tail, she vigorously ate them up. But it was a big mistake, since she stopped eating her regular food for two days, holding out for more shrimp.
Stock up on tuna? Bwwaaahhhaaahhhhhaaaaaaa!!! Like what time *isn't* the time to increase your blue fin sushi grade holdings?? That really big GSK on the sofa sure must eat a lot of fish, I sure hope you have enough on hand every day.
This just in from the Kitty Weather Service in Mt Hairball - severe shortage of marine edibles expected, storm your local fish monger, horde now.
We do NOT have 'nuff food. I am gonna STARVE.
This may be goodbye.
It's been fun.
My voracious shrimp lover is almost as excited about Bumble Bee chunk light tuna in water. So I stocked up before the storm, it being available everywhere, even 7-11. But only straight from the can...she won't eat the tuna salad I make for myself with celery, onions and mayo. Fine, we'll share tuna in our different ways..
DannyC - Never try to feed cats onions, garlic, chives, scallions, leeks, etc. All those bulbs are poison to a cat. I'm not positive but I think they're poisonous to dogs too.
GC - No wonder she would not touch my tuna salad with those poisonous onions. No problem with basic tuna, right?
If there was a problem with just plain tuna from a can, Sugar & White Shoes would never ever call my mom "Grandma Tuna". It's a treat though, otherwise they wouldn't have a very balanced diet. They get a combo of dry & different types of wet - tuna, liver, chicken, and special "Spot's Lamb Stew". (Halo brand)
GC - Fed her Purina Cat Chow Complete, which she thrived on for two years until she discovered shrimp, and now tuna. So now must mix it up to keep her happy and get her to stop begging and crying for what she craves. Love this little beast. Any specific brands and portion recommendations are most welcome.
Uh oh, just heard the forecat -
The Kitty Weather Service in Mount Hairball NJ has issued a Buzzard Warning, which is in effect from 8 PM this evening to 6 PM EDT Tuesday.
The Winter Storm Warning is no longer in effect and not even the half of it!!
* LOCATIONS...Eastern Pennsylvania and much of northern New Jersey.
* HAZARD TYPES... Low flying birds of prey and unnatural airborne waste bombs.
* ACCUMULATIONS... Flocking possible. Avoid dangerous crowds, corner and attack lone birds as a group, then dine individually.
* IMPACTS...Higher than normal chances of dirty windshields and bad hair days.
Poor visibilities are likely. This will lead to whiteout conditions making travel extremely dangerous. Do not travel unless in case of bluefin sighting. If you must travel, have a winter survival kit with you. Tuna, dog mace, ball of string. If you get stranded, stay with your vehicle and have a human take any risks.
DannyC - Ask your vet for portions based on age and activity. The Purina I give mine is the indoor one with hairball control and lower calories. Canned food as I mentioned is Halo brand, available from Hackettstown Pet.
GC - Thanks. For now, it's Purina Cat Chow Complete, sometimes topped with Bumble Bee chunk light tuna in water. She seems to be happy with this. Will try all your other suggestions after the storm. She has an appointment with the vet on the 20th, being only a bit over two years old, and needing booster immunization shots anyway. Thanks again.
Stray cat... being lured closer and closer into the kitchen... hehe.
This one has proven untrappable. I've been trying to get him for ages. I feed him every day, and gave him a warm shelter outside. He even lets me pet him a little when he comes to eat on the ledge. But if I try to "get" him while petting... he's gone. Quicker than I am. One day...
Rebecka - I must have his brother by another mother at my place. He is feral, not neutered, with an incredible set, and still attracted to my fixed female, who cannot stand him, but he still steals her food, having several natural shelters outside. We call him "Tommy Walnuts". Handsome and friendly dude, but way quicker than me, too.
SuperCat? Not likely. Still, don't burst the bubble, go with it. When you compare with humanz Super, she's way beyond. Well, "way beyond" does also say something, no? Mighty Cat is on the way!
I met this beautiful Savannah cat Monday - She is spectacular. I hope she is able to rejoin her family soon.
4catmom - Hysterical! This cat is so cool, calm, comfortable and unafraid. My cats would be scared $hitless, how about yours?
More brave kitties: https://youtu.be/A0Z79ycisDU
4catmom - Grandma Tuna showed us that before. She wants daddy to get us a roomba. Bleeeech!!! No thanks. That thing is too &^@!^ noisy!!! But I do kinda like the cat with the "Cat on Board" sign. That's style! ;-)
Now that's what I'm talking about!! Careful though, you have a face that could go viral, Sugar. Next thing you know there will be paparazzi on your doorstep!
Love To Sing - Judging by the table cloth, I'd say Easter egg salad is what's for dinner. ;-)
Roombas may be relaxing, but drones are so much fun.
Kitty about to start giving birth - live on youtube - from "tiny kittens" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Od1-koPkMjI
GC - My cats LOVE chunk light tuna in water, but refuse to eat the same tuna in oil. Why is this? Is the oil bad for them, like onions? They are still crazy about shrimp, though, when I can afford them. Cold, plain, chopped and hold the hot sauce and lemon.
I think our feral cat has made our home her home or she took it over. Lol! She just loves the Easter baskets.
I rescued her 2 winters ago from Alexandria apartments. She has come a long way with trusting people ❤
4catmom - Cats are so promiscuous. You can see that this momma had at least two partners, one orange and one black, a good momma, but she is not done yet.
Realist - feral to happily-ever-after stories are the best! Your kitty is beautiful.
Attn: Weather Forecatter - we are requesting an update from Mt. Hairball. We have heard conflicting reports, and can't decide if it's a day to go to Field of Dreams, or... dreamland.
They are so cute together. What a pair! I wish Boo would be open to being more loving with the kitties but she's too possessive and jealous.
Aww lovely pic of Barney and friend! Looks like it's going to storm. Waiting on cat forecast before going out on errands. LOL If it's going to storm DanTe will disappear under couch and I mean disappear.
The Kitty Weather Service in Mount Hairball NJ has reviewed current weather radar and has determined several bands of light to moderate rain are passing through the HackCATStown area.
* LOCATIONS...HackCATStown and surrounding areas.
* HAZARD TYPES... Serious gloom may result.
* IMPACTS...Higher than normal chances of lethargy and down right lack of purring.
You really needed a weather service to predict THAT!!!
4catmom - Still watching your video of Evolene's births on "tiny kittens".
She had nine kittens but lost four. An incredibly good mother taking great care of her remaining brood. But she has still contributed to more than doubling the feral cat population. We can only hope that her kittens will all find loving homes as full grown cats. As the caption once said "This is why we spay and neuter."
When cats curl up like they've had *such* a hard and active day... and they just can't take one more strenuous task...
I started feeding a stray cat before winter and a couple of weeks ago noticed her belly getting big so I trapped her and brought her in the house.
A week later she gave birth to 4 Beautiful kittens! Approximately 5 days after that someone found 2 kittens in a garbage bag at the landfill! They were still alive with their umbilical cords on; I took them and introduced them to Lily (momma cat) and she nursed them back to health and they are doing amazing :-). Then...... The next morning a kitten was found at a construction site with the umbilical cord on no other kittens and no mother ( apparently someone was trapping the cats and they believe trapped the mother ) After checking with my vet, I introduced that kitten to Lily and now she is nursing all of the kittens and they are all doing excellent!
Here's a picture of her and her babies
Yea to Lily!!! And to you too, Summer! Hope you can find loving homes for all the kittens when they are old enough. Should not be a problem...after all, it is HackCATStown.
I love the picture Sugar!!
I forgot how much fun kittens are and I am so thrilled that Lily adopted the others
Summer - Given that cats are exceptionally fine moms, feeding, cleaning and giving love to their kittens, your Lily seems to be the best cat mom ever...congratulations! Enjoy the beautiful kittens before they turn into beautiful cats. You may want to try to find loving homes for them right away. Best of luck to you.
Grumpy Cat says there's a coupon for $1 off Friskies. How can you argue with that?
Hey Grumpy Cat - Our favorites are Purina Cat Chow Complete and Bumble Bee Chunk Light Tuna in Water. Any coupons for these will help the old man out.
I eat Cat Chow!! I'm a member of "My Cat Chow Perks" at https://myperks.catchow.com/
I signed up and getz coupons for daddy all the time now. Both in the email messages as well as the mail. That's where I heard about Grumpy cat's offer for daddy. Grumpy is Purina spokes cat. ;-)
Sugar - Thanks for the tip. But we love the sound of the can opener, cause that means tuna for youna. Did you know that people food like Bumble Bee Chunk Light Tuna in Water is actually cheaper than some wet cat foods? And it's sooo tasty. Even the old man eats it, but with additives like celery, onions and mayo that we don't like.
How are Lily and her kitties doing, Summer? Any more kitty pics?
And speaking of our sunnier season... the weather this week! Our forecatter is snoozing on the job again. Anyone awake at Mt. Hairball station? Are we really looking at record highs?
Mt Hairball was on Mt Hiatus, some unknown place in Hungary...
News flash from Mt Hairball - 90 degree weekend coming up. Keep your kat kool. Meanwhile I'm practicing my swimming strokes. It may be pool time... ;-)
Peanut, Gracie, Sylvester and Pipsqueak want you to know that all their supplies appear magically at the front door - thanks to Chewy's..............regular prices -- 1 day delivery - mom is tired of hauling the stuff from the market --
Hey, nice planting there.
Gotz any tuna seed, human? I'm dreaming of a good sushi crop. ;-)
Not for nothin' but it kinda looks like you've had enough tuna for the moment, WS? I'm envisioning some other activities in your future.
omg Rebecka - can the guy in your pix please get my 25lb Pipsqueak and put him on the treadmill? please
"I'm envisioning some other activities"
I had that thought once. It passed. Like gas.
You needs your envision checked. Bad eyesight...
Strangest most bizarre dream I ever had - just woke up and thought some dog just asked to be a cat??!!? You just can't make that up.
So who knew Boo Boo you too?
Attn: HackCATS: do not annoy sheep! You might be sorry.
Oh Hi there!
My name is BooBoo and I am only two months old. I am not fast and I wobble a bit but it's nice to meet you all!
Now that's a REAL BooBoo kitty!! You're definitely HackCATStown material!
We won't talk about that other silly one... ;-)
Diet. Not. Working.
You gotz wrong thread poochie boo boo. HactCATStown. CATS town. Maybe you had a bit too much e-clips.
Please post Boo's address mom wants to dognap him. Just for a day or two. ;-)
This counts as exercise, right? (I did have to hop up on chair.)
Please give Boo a kiss. She is the cutest little almost-kitty ever.
And I'm stuck in a tree.
Barny - I bet you meant to do that. I know if I did that you can definitely bet I meant to...
4catmom - You are a very privileged human indeed. Either that or she's saying you better get off that *!&#! computer and STAY off! I hope you didn't want it back. ;-)
Sabrina says, "Please don't wake me up when I'm sleeping on the stove." She's a weirdo.
Cats find the strangest (and most inconvenient) places to sit and/or nap. And G-d forbid we move them lol.
Of course Barny "meant" to do that. He was just testing our emergency preparedness system.
Had to phone a friend. No way I was carrying 17 lbs of pure genius out of a tree.
Looks like Fluffy rules the Boardroom. "As CEO of Kat-X Corporation, I demand my Fancy Feast ** IMEADIATELY **!!"
My littlest cat has a routine - She wakes me up at dawn by kneading on my stomach and chest, then when I open the back door a crack for her, she runs up one or the crooked trees out back, runs back down and into the house, bangs her head on the front window, shakes it off, and then does it again. Three years old and still a kitten.
Weedwacker - Cats are affectionate, although sometimes mischievous, and I love all their attributes.
Do cats like to scratch the floors in your home? This includes any type of flooring. Is floor scratching generally a normal cat activity? Curious.
Yes or no
What does your cat do all day?
If it's a carpet, I definitely will give it a try! But it's not as good as cat litter, it doesn't move much. So I only do it once in a while. I say no thanks to wood floors. My sister White Shoes will scratch anything if she's just out of the littler box. She does that once in a while just after she eats stale dry food too. I think that's a pretty appropriate comment about the food. ;-)
Puurr - I have oak wood floors, and the cats do not scratch them. But the two welcome mats get torn up to shreds by the cats.
OMG, I'm never gonna have catnip again the rest of my life. If I didn't know better I just saw two cats and a GSD ride by on some floor covering. Too scary for me...
Any ideas how to evict a feline squatter? It took me a full evening and lots of tooth work to customize this house!
Another cat. We have a feral male cat in the neighborhood who hangs around and tries to steal food, but is also a lot like some of our elected officials, looking to mate. We call him Tommy Walnuts, guess why. Happily, our courageous littlest spayed female will have none of this, and fights him fearlessly every time he comes around. What a racket.
I'm just gonna go under this chair and Pout.
For a Long Time.
Hi, my name is White Shoes. What's yours? I only see you guys around Christmas time. Are you gonna twirl around and dance?? You're awfully tiny and seem to be going around in circles...
Lmbo White Shoes. Do you get the wind speed for your Mt. Hairball weather forecasts from the spinny thing too? Speaking of, I think we are well overdue for the winter weather predictions from Mt. Hairball.
FYI fellow cat owners - Chewy has some great sales on cat trees/perches right now. There's a great little one for just $19.
Might keep the cats off the speakers and coffee makers. Just sayin'. ;-)
Gracie May Gooseberry loves this toy from Chewy's.............and if you, the first time you order, name Antler Ridge Wildlife Sanctuary, they will receive a donation.
Rebecka - Sugar is the employee of the Kitty Weather Service, not White Shoes. You'll need her to gaze into her crystal hairball...
My cats already have 3 of their own little houses, or perches. And 17 other better places they sleep regularly. Only a 5% chance at any one time they'll actually use one of those things.
On the other hand, a lighten traveling race track looks like something they would love. As long as they won't play WWF with it and give it a body slam. It's got to be HackCATStown tough!!
Another buns! Who sleeps with his feet out back! Lol, love it when they do that - they look like little living rugs.
This is Nora, who is now a hiker. She comes on all the dog walks, even the ones in the woods. Sticks right by us, and even comes when called. (She is possibly a dog in a cat suit.)
BTW anyone ordering from Chewy - they also have great candles at great prices. Marketed as pet odor eliminating candles, but the scents are better than some of the expensive candles I've had. One fragrance is Southern Magnolia - I'm addicted!
Sugar - hurry up and let us know what this winter will bring!
This just in from Mt Hairball:
The Kitty Weather Service in Mount Hairball NJ has issued a Dangerous Weather Warning, which is in effect from December 3rd to December 25th.
This warning replaces all previous watches and advisories.
* LOCATIONS...Eastern Pennsylvania and much of northern New Jersey.
* HAZARD TYPES... Ridiculous blinding light flashes, broken bulb bits, tinsel choking hazards, and inflatable disasters. Approach holiday decorations with extreme caution. Assume all baubles and flashing lights are devil spawn.
* ACCUMULATIONS... Due to on going hooman OCD, massive rocket displays, piped in holiday music extravaganzas, and sky high electric bills have been known to happen.
* IMPACTS...Higher than normal chances of kitty kat alcoholism, hair standing on end, and long cat whisperer therapy sessions.
Poor holiday attitudes are likely leading to a run on local watering holes and barroom clashes. Flashing lights likely to cause menacing migraines and serious seizures. Pounce, floor, and shred all tree based products immediately. Presume hoomans will thank us later for assuring their species survival.
Omg I didn't see the WARNING!! And this is what happens when you sit too close to a package that arrives which needs to be unwrapped, but you are in the way...
I hate it when that happens. Grandma Tuna tries to do that to us.
It's not like I told you so either...
A plethora of poses, but only one expression. Which kind of looks like...
Barny looks adorable in his bow! He he... My neighbor tried putting a Santa outfit on her cat for a quick photo and he played dead until she took it off. LOL.
Snooze?? No way. There's too much going on outside - white furry stuff flying all around, Oscar the grouchy dog out for a walk, birdies grounded and scrounging for food on the deck. Don't want to miss any of this...
The Kattarshians are now the break out stars of UP TV!! They've gone from small Iceland TV to the big time!
And we're watching!!
Takin 'er easy for the holidays, you?
Tunamas! Tunamas! Tunamas!
Our stockings are hung on the fridge with care,
Hoping Sandy Paws will soon give us a whole bunch of deliciousness, tuna, and Itty Bitty Kitty Witty treats...
All through the house nothing was stirring,
not even a mowseburger wid cheez caus I'm gonna get that little critter and he's gonna be so munchabletabulosity...
OK, I'm just a bit excited!!
And don't forget the Winter Classic next week! It's looking good for post Tunamas entertainment!!
Did all of HackCATStown enjoy the version of the Yule Log with puppies and kittens??
It was on the Hallmark channel all day long...
Mt Hairball Alert! Mt Hairball Alert!! :
**** LA BAMBA GENESIS ****
The Kitty Weather Service in Mount Hairball NJ has issued a Dangerous Dance Warning, which is in effect from January 4th to January 5th.
This warning replaces all previous watches and advisories.
* LOCATIONS...Eastern Pennsylvania and much of northern New Jersey.
* HAZARD TYPES... Spontaneous dance marathons, overt playing of Ritchie Valens songs, and shameless paid appearances by Lou Diamond Phillips
* ACCUMULATIONS... Potential vinyl garbage piles and emergency rooms filled with charlie horse cases
* IMPACTS... Unbridled stereo playing, carpet burns, and a false sense of falsetto possible. Clear all areas of dance contestants and 45 records immediately on sight.
A rare phenomenon of the re-birth of a classic late 50's tune causing severe health risks including headaches, sore ears, and delusions of dancing. Approaching any hooman singing with extreme caution. This rare birth of song is referred to by it's technical name "La Bomba Genesis".
Bad hair day, but a good day for hockey. Anyone else wanna go out and play?
Maybe La Bomba explains my bro digging his favorite old boa out of the closet?
He was just yawning, I promise! :-) (And showing off his very fancy dance accessory.)
So invisible right now.
Bunny kisses are worth coming out of hiding for.
There are always snuggling animals in this house. The ladies especially love Barny. I guess fat and orange are attractive qualities in the feline world.
And - What's the deal with the weather forecatter from Mt. Hairball? Sleeping on the job again?
Ho [yawn] hum. It's gonna be wet. Darn wet. 100% wet. Complete and total wetness. What more questions does a human gotz?
So sayeth the Queen of Mt Hairball...
And... that's probably the most accurate forecast we're seeing anywhere right now. (We should all do like cats and just spend tomorrow lounging and sleeping on random pieces of furniture.)
Evil I say. Just pure evil. We don't go on "Road Trip" to Grandma Tuna anymore. That thing can only mean "rumpus bumpus".
NOW is the time to don your invisibility cloak, WS! Quickly! If you can't get to it just hide under something (or someone) else!
Petra, you so invisible humanz can't handle it and you just keep on, you come over to my house and take my place and I'm sure you'll never get caught and the humanz will be so frustrated they'll give up on finding you instead of me...
OK. I'm excited. I gotz other problemz to deal with.
[sigh - woohoo]
Mummy has me on Strict Diet but says she knows for a fact that daddy is sneaking me treats. How she does know this? #NoEvidence #FakeNews #blubberisnice
looking for advice - in a few months I will be moving (temporary) into a friends house to care for it and a cat, while he is deployed.
I have 3 male cats age 7 & 9 - his cat is a female age 2 - all are neutered or spaded
I have started to bring a blanket with my cats smells on it over to the house and his cat just smells it and walks away - my cats smell it and lay on it, no different than what they normally do. And I think I will do this until we move in - July ish
my questions come down to HOW do I handle it all when we do move it? bring my litter boxes and just combine with hers? All new litter boxes?
do you think it would be ok for me to lock her in a room, in the beginning and let my boys run the house and then reverse?
I would only let them been together in the beginning while I am home, that is my plan.
ANY thoughts would be great on how to get them to "like each other OR just get along" as it would be for 8-9 months.
We have to make it work as he will deploy no matter how they get along.
Definitely start with first putting your boys in one area or room first -- not her. If you put her in the room, she will think the other cats are in her space and taking over, and they locked her up! If the newcomers are in one area, she will know they are there and hopefully be curious to welcome new friends (and will for sure spend a lot of time by the door, sniffing). As she is the female, you have a good chance of all the boys respecting her. She will likely be the one to lay down the law; most boys won't fight a female (at least from what I've read). You might be able to just do the separation for a day or two, as well. A week might not be needed. My humble prediction is that it will all go very smoothly. Then again... cats! ;-)
any thoughts on the litter boxes.....bring mine over and co-mingle OR get all news one?
Oh Jeez, what about litter - keep using 2 different types or can I switch her to mine?
Thanks to all who comment
Got this from a friend....gonna watch it soon. Jackson Galaxy.
Oh no! New brothers!!
I agree COMPLETELY!! If it's my home, it's my home! Let the other kitties by themselves first. Absolutely everything in their room - food and litter boxes. When I get around to it and investigate and tell my human it's OK, then they can come out for a while.
Well maybe. ;-)
Unless if I like them, then never mind. Then they can come out and we all have a big paw-tay.
As Rebecka said, boys should be locked up. If possible after a few dto let them see each other through a screen or gate it would be good. I’d keep the old litter boxes and litter they usual us for all including your friends cat. They are very particular about that and may not like the change and potty elsewhere. They like their smells on the old box, it’s a territorial thing.
One other thing I just thought of, Wendy: Bach's Rescue Remedy for pets. It's a homeopathic calming liquid you give to stressed animals. Just a few drops works miracles. I don't understand how it works -- I don't even "believe in" homeopathy. And yet I've seen it with my own eyes. I discovered it when I was helping to rehab injured wildlife. It can take an animal from angry to chill in minutes. Might be good to have on hand. (And if all else fails maybe just get the drops for humans and take them yourself lol.)
thank you for this - Im gonna look into it.
And I'll have wine on hand for me, just in case.
Dog says I need to give him "horsey ride." Says we could be next YouTube sensation. Somebody please. Make it stop.
I've been getting closer and closer to a feral cat who showed up looking for food on our farm over the winter. I was so happy yesterday when she took treats right from my hand. Less happy this evening though, when I came out on the patio just now to enjoy my leftovers from last night's special dinner at Ryland Inn. Darn cat just helped herself to every last bit of the leftover halibut. It was freakin delicious, too. I imagine the level of cuisine was lost on this scruffy forest feline. >\
"I imagine the level of cuisine was lost.."
Excuse me. Tres not so. We are always appreciative of fine dining at its best. I think you just were under the mistaken impression the halibut was yours. HUMAN. ;-)
Phew... I'm up against a deadline here working for daddy. I've been working like crazy getting all of my projects done so I can wait up for our visit from Sandy Paws. I just hope I can make it in time. Anyone else do Objective C phone apps and Struts with an emphasis on MVC paradigms?? Just jump right on in if you do...
In any case, back to hunkering down while I warm my butt.
How many hours of daddy's coding/ programming did you erase with your tail there, WS?! And why do cats get rewarded for naughty behavior?
My bro and sis: they are not even supposed to be in the kitchen and *definitely* not on the table it's a feliny. And they are getting treat of milk on the kitchen table! And I want some milk too an I cannot jump that high.
And Sugarplum I bet got tuna from Santypaws? And does she not have worse case of cattitude in recorded history? I cannot figure anything out I'm so confused with cats. Help.
For your information Mr Nedi-pot, my sister is an excellent coder. And if anything was erased, it would have been her own work. So she wasn't being naughty at all.
Sandypaws was just fantastic this year!! We had some nice lamb stew for our Tunamas meal, with a healthy dose of tuna before AND after!! We each gotz a fluffy animal from Grandma Tuna. She says she thinks the one looks just like YOU!! She may be right because White Shoes tried to scratch its eyes out. I bit into it and I think it's full of bolonka.
Did you ever think the katz getz rewardz because they're the best!! No wonder you're confused poochie - you need training!!
Your Kat Overlordz
I gotz a great gift from Grandma for Tunamas. It's a pet doggie! I'm claiming him for me and giving the silly bear to White Shoes.
I am naming him "Fred". He's a Blushin' Radonka breed.
He smells! First up is a LONG LONG bath. With lots of scrubbing!
Good advice for ANY dog owner!! ;-)
