Record Player

Hi,

Can anyone suggestions a repair person for an old record player, the needle is broken and needs to be replaced and a few other things!

My son is lost w/o it, he likes to listen to old jazz and big band music on it.

Look in the yellow pages under DJ's (like wedding DJ's) call them I am sure they can direct you to someone.

I just googled Record needles and I bunch of sites came up.

If it's just a needle, they are readily available on ebay for not that much. If it's more complicated than that there are still many things that are easy to do such as a simple replacement of a belt if it has one. I've done that with old audio components.

If it's more like an antique one and something like a motor then you may need a full repairman. I know Osa on Main St works on old things like pinball machines and jukeboxes. They might be worth a shot.

Thanks everyone for all the suggestions - I will check into all of them and let you know how I do.

If it is a belt drive versus direct drive, you might question repairs.

Ion makes a nice turntable with fairly inexpensive models that
= have internal speakers for portabiilty (worked with steros as well)
= allow you to convert records to PC files for media portability to pcs, cds, etc.

Just an alternative, have been pleased with my son's.
