A good psychic in the area?
A couple of my friends and I are looking to go to a psychic this weekend. I have heard different thoughts about the one on Main St, so I wanted to know if there was any others in the area that someone would have some input on. Thanks!!

genk I do not go to psychics anymore, but I did go to a few when I was younger. Most were clearly just taking my money. There was one woman though that I was truly amazed by. She knew nothing about me and did not ask a thing, but told me things about my family, work, & personal life as if she had known me for years. I really was astounded by her and how dead on she was. She actually not only described personalities of people close to me, but also described certain events that had happened in my life.
She described my job and living conditions with such accuracy it was hard to have any doubts. At the time I was living back home and there is no way she could have just given a generic type of reading that would fit the typical family because I probably have the most dysfunctional family around lol!! She actually zoned in on this immediately and was shocked that one family could have so much discord. Again this was all from me just sitting in a chair across from her. I never spoke a word before or during the reading to give her any clue or hint about my life.
I do agree that most are phonies, but I think there are some that are truly gifted (if that's what you want to call it)
JRT Yes, JRT, I do believe also there are a few gifted ones - the trick is to find the "one" comparable to finding the needle in the haystack - would you share how to get in touch with the "gifted one" that you mention?
I do think that if you find a real one it would help to be more aware of your good options in life.

CJ. The best psychic I have ever been to is Shirlet. The first time I went to her, I walked into her house and she said to me that I was sick and she pointed to my stomach area and said there is something wrong in this area. The only thing I said to her at this point was hello. What she didn't know and I did not mention was that I had just been diagnosed with a liver disease. She then went on to tell me that they would be taking many blood test from me. For the next year I went for weekly blood work. I checked out Shirlet's website and she does do phone readings but wants you to ask your questions at the begining of the session. I am very skeptical when they look to me to ask questions because then they obviously know what concerns me and then be able to make it up as they go along. If they really are psychic, shouldn't they just see things and tell me about them? I would love to see someone legit but I am so skeptical.
Jazzykatt I had a tarot card reading at a fundraiser this past weekend. Never done anything like that before and I never would do something like that, but the reader was a friend and was donating all of the earnings to the cause for our other friend with cancer. Because of that, a few of us who normally would not be interested partook.
Anyway, what a crock of crap. LOL
I could hardly keep from cracking up when she was closing her eyes and telling me what the cards were telling her.
Not really sure how/why people can take this stuff seriously.

My friend loves the whole psychic medium stuff. She is getting married and this was just an idea for her bachelorette party. I am not to sure the bridal party will be up for putting out that kind of money for what could be a waste of hard earned money.

EG1982 I am a huge skeptic and have seen a few crackpots in the past at various events with friends but I do have one experience that never leaves my mind. I was with an ex boyfriend at the time and we were vacationing in AC. As we were walking down the boardwalk, I saw a psychic stand and thought it would be a fun recreational thing to do. I was madly in love at the time and thought for sure we were going to get married. Well, I sat down in her private little room as my ex waited his turn outside. She didn't ask me any questions she just blurted out that this guy is not for you. She didn't see him in my future. My eyes started brimming with tears when she went on to say that she saw me meeting my future husband in a place where there was a lot of water and it would not be in the country. She said she pictured it far away and kept repeating the water thing. I walked out of there pissed and we proceeded to leave. My ex and I were both in denial about her reading since we both thought we had a future together (already been together 2 years).
Now in the present...he and I broke up a year after that reading and I am now married to my husband with whom I met on a carribean cruise 12 years ago, surounded by the beautiful ocean.
Maybe it was a fluke but it still makes me wonder.

I've never been to Anna's on Main Street but I would be curious to know as well if anyone else had.

Tom2013 FF ~ please post how your friend makes out, I'm curious. I have a friend who has been having a very bad luck streak for the last 2 years. You name it from losing her mom, both her and her husband lost their jobs, got a new one, lost this one yesterday, problems with health, problems with house, problems with cars, etc. etc. Everytime she gets a step ahead, something happens and she takes 4 back. I think she needs to have her chakras or energy cleansed, something to make this dark cloud around her disappear..

Chad I'm interested in trying the psychic in Hackettstown but no one has posted any comments about their experiences w/ her. I saw another one up on route 15, northbound, in the Sparta area, I believe, and am thinking about checking it out as well.
In September of 1976 a high school friend invited me to a psychic party his mother was having at their home. What this woman did was ask you to draw a tree. She then analyzed the tree as it applied to me. Next she asked a few questions and with my answers she described my make up. She went through the alphabet & asked who I knew with each letter and told me about that person. After that she went into the psychic reading, looking right through me and telling me my future. The one thing she told me that stood out most was that my twin brother was going away and never coming back. This didn't sit well with me as we were a very close, tight knit family. Don't you know almost 4 months to the day of that reading my twin brother died?! Needless to say I used her until her death in 2008. Her name was Phyliss Yobbi, originally from Belleville. Later she moved into an assisted living facility in Clifton after several strokes and a bout with cancer.
Presently, my life is in such a shambles I could really use her guidance and expertise but unfortunately she's gone now. With all the psychics I've been to I have never come across anyone as thorough or accurate as she was. I've been to a lot in my lifetime, but it seems lately they're all a bunch of frauds. They all want to "help" me as I have this "dark cloud" around me. Is this what psychics have become? Very discouraging and frustrating. Any guidance would be appreciated.
dac Totally weirded out now because about 10 years ago I went to go see Gypsy Gita. I was living in NY at the time and a friend of a friend included me in a large outing to see him at his private studio in the village. Everyone got a massage and a reading. We spent the entire day in the city. I remember our meeting very well and he told me something about myself that I have never shared with another human being ever -including my own patents or husband- and to this day I've never spoken about with anyone other than him. It really freaked me out. He was pretty incredible. Oddly enough, I never knew his last name. There aren't too many people named Gypsy so of course I had to checkout his Facebook page. I may have to drop him a line. That is one crazy coincidence!!!

PsychicBill just stumbled upon this thread.... im 52 and this had to have been about 20 to 30 years ago.... there was this older woman in hacketstown.... on main street maybe (again it was a very long time ago) She would have been 70 to 80 years old. No sign on her house.... it was just word of mouth and people would line up on her sidewalk in the afternoon and when her "stories" aka soap operas were done she would sit in a little room off of her front porch and read your tarot cards. a younger women would direct you in.... there was a small waiting room off of that room. There were all sorts of crosses and pictures of catholic saints including Jesus and Mary.... She didnt charge but there was a basket on the table for donations. I am not suggesting that she would be still alive but wondered if anyone remembered her.
Annieiam @Annieiam, I know exactly the woman you are talking about. I went to her a few times in my very early 20's. I would def. not recommend her though. She would always tell me the same thing. "A man with dark hair, lights eyes likes you". Just very general stuff. She would also tell me to "stay away from married men, only date single men". She also would tell my friend the same thing "stay away from married men". She was a very nice lady but she didn't predict anything..she was more just giving life advice.
nena I went with a friend to see Lorraine Moore (website posted above) over 13 years ago. She was pretty accurate, and my friend was satisfied with her reading. I agree that most are full of it...but I do think some are the real deal.

I also went to the little old lady who asked for donations. When I was 20 she told me that I would be engaged in April. I got engaged in May. Didn't know that was going to happen because I was so young. She also told me that I would win some money and I should play bingo or something. I played the lottery that week and won a few hundred dollars. She did often say the blue eyes and the stay away from married men. LOL. But for 5 bucks I didn't mind. She did tell a friend of mine that there was something dark in her house and I already knew that from my friend. Back in 1995, 96 my old girlfriend took me to see this old lady in Hackettstown. She said she was a psychic and had predicted some local events so I said lets go. I remember walking into the front of her house which was basically an enclosed porch. To the right was a waiting room with some bench seats and to the left of the front door was a small room where she sat. I remember the room was covered in crucifixes and pictures of Pope John Paul II. She basically said a lot of general stuff. "Why do you like married women?" "If you go with women with dark hair end in divorce." I remember her also saying something about someone dieing or about to die which my grandfather did years later. I think she also said that I was going to come into money which I did (but not really that much) in 2005 when my dad past away.

MaryBinPA I can tell you that I have been to Shirlet many times, I have also had a phone reading when the weather was bad and I couldn't travel to see her. First she never asked me for questions. By the time she is done with the reading most if not all your questions you would have had are answered. But she tells you the truth, even when you don't want to hear it. She works hard at trying to help you. What she puts into you is worth more then the money you give to her.

Magee I went to the Sussex fair. Having a little psychic twinkle, myself, I was curious to see what a $5 palm reading would reveal. My "lifeline" predicted that I was going to live to be 97! Very unlikely, due to health and family genetics. Then some bs stuff, like, "your a spiritual person, God will bless you and your family. You are going to have a financial windfall(picked up on the fact that I commented on not being able to afford to live to age 97.)", bless this and that. Not accurate at all.
So, then I tell her, I am also psychic. I use personal objects, like keys, pens, etc. When I was done with her. She was so impressed. The other two "psychics", there, wanted me to read them next. I asked for $5. They all chuckled. It was a fun experience and proved that I am better, psychic then they are. I don't charge. I do it, on a whim, if I happen to be around, when someone brings up the subject. I should pursue this "gift". I have know idea how to read tarot cards. I just say the first thing, that pops into my head. If it's a really bad thought, I keep quiet. I don't want to scare anyone. I'm usually %85 accurate. Guess I need to work at it, huh?

Donna sparks - The very definition of "gift" means money isn't right. The true spirit means a value that is far beyond anything money could ever define. Never take a single penny even if you joke about it. Even when someone offers, tell them to put it towards something or someone else that truly needs it. If you feel something wrong, you're right for letting go. But if it's right, pass it along yet walk away without even giving the opportunity to accept anything in return. To do that is to spoil where it came from. Give but never take.
Yup... that's what I do. It's just something I like to have fun with. I was only joking with the other two psychics, that wanted me to read them, because A) I was charged $5 for BS, although I didn't say that as I didn't want to insult anyone and B) I wanted to move on.
