Another oil rig

I guess one wasn't enough. They don't yet know if it is a drilling rig.

I read that it wasn't producing oil yet. Hopefully that report is correct!

Rumor has it that the Employee of the Month was pissed off because someone parked in his spot...

Even if it is leaking, it will be much easier to fix. You can send divers down 300ft without a problem. If it were over a mile down like the last disaster it wouldn't be so easy, but this one is just over 300ft below the surface.

It's nuts that these rigs get pushed so far out to sea by eco-terrorists like the guy at the Discovery Channel in Maryland yesterday. Common sense would dictate that you build infrastructure where you can handle it when it breaks down or blows up. When there is an issue on land in Alaska it gets taken care of immediatly, or in this case in the shallow water. This will be corrected very quickly, just like the last one could have been if it was allowed in shallow water.

I totally agree.

john, you kind of have to drill where the oil is...
most of the world's proven reserves are as deep or deeper than the deepwater horizon site. if the con's hadn't stalled CAFE standards for years we could have greatly lowered our demand for oil, and if they had not nearly completely dismantled mineral management service then these companies could drill in deepwater, where the oil is, with proven safeguards in place.
