Has anyone checked with panera if this is ok? I know they dont mind people coming with lap tops and setting up for a while but to bring board games might not be ok and also there is not a great deal of seating for across from each other gamin i think at the most you could get 4 and 1 on the end. I live right up the hill from there i can check next time im in there unless you have already cleared it with them
shoebie So far we have 2 people which is not a problem. Backgammon is a 2 person game as are the others so I don't see it as a problem. I know that I will be eating a yummy salad while I am there so I will be supporting them too. Regardless if more than 2 people are going to show up I will speak to the manager. Thanks.
Ok cool, when you decide on a game can you post i would be interested in playing a game of scrabble but not sure if that takes to long
I am going to try and make it for a game of backgammon..do we have a board? I will see if I can locate mine.

Pepper Cat Great I will be looking for a partner for scrabble as my Backgammon partner has to work unless of course someone else is up for Backgammon.
I can do scrabble..... I know my parents have an old 70's backgammon set... I might have to be on the hunt for that this weekend...it's a great set. I will let you know. I love scrabble!

OMG I almost just left with my two Scrabble boards. I am SO disappointed!! Good thing I checked, but why the last-minute cancel? We only need a few people to play... even 2 works. :-(
Rebecka i am so sorry. I had forgotten that you said you were a definte.....oops it was 3 days ago. Last night I had asked for a final and no one cept pepper cat was interested. My experience has been that people think it's a great idea a week in advance and then don't show. Now I am disappointed! Darn we could have had a rousing 3 person scrabble game.
Yeah firefly gotta show up with a board and a good book while you're waiting. I've found random people come over and play chess. Eventually word of mouth goes around and it becomes big but gotta have consistent presence. Found this with pickup soccer too.
Just came back from Panera...next time I will check the website to confirm. Was looking forward to a game of scrabble. At least I enjoyed a coffee and cookie :)
Oh Dear Let's in the future check in here 24 hrs before scheduled time to meet. I really do not want to hang out at Paneras in hopes someone will show up. Shall we try this again next week?

I dont think a ongoing thread will stay pinned up top you would need to make a new one each week with the date and then it would become an important event (usually)

like i have mentioned, i LOVE scrabble and will be there wednesday ( might even bring a friend ) BUT.........lol.....i hate to burst someones bubble but whoever put the word "VUE " on the scrabble board was wrong. vue is not a word, it may be an suv...lol...but not a word.......lol....and yes, i have a official scrabble dictionary...lol....

CMJ - you're not bursting anyone's bubble. If you put a word down, and it goes unchallenged, it's counted as a word for that Scrabble game. Sometimes you take chances, knowing you could lose points and a turn, if your word turns out not to be a word, and you get challenged. Although I must say I thought "vue" was a word... but then I've probably spent too much time in France! :-)

We have 2 boards, so we can have 2 separate games going, so there's definitely room.

Firefly I bailed on all events tonight...that storm scared the beans right out of me. Thankfully I had some company though. ;) I am notorious for not going anywhere in storms..... what so ever!!!
I am wondering if Rebecka had puppies they are due any day...actually I think her dog is the puppydaddy. I got there before the rain (barely) and left at 7:30.
I am not going to be able to make it tonight. No coverage for the puppy care -- they have to be fed.
