Sunday, Sept. 5 - HL Breakfast Club

It's time for the next one. Anyone interested besides me?

I'll be on vacation and the next few Sundays after that are looking busy for me. Possibly the 19th if nothing else comes up. I am looking forward to another breakfast though. The first one was lovely.

I'm in.

I'll probably roll out of bed and over there.

Tracy: I hope you enjoy your vacation and maybe the next time we see you, you'll have some good news about a better job.

OK, GC! We made it for 9:30 last time and weren't quite ready to leave when they started cleaning up at 10:30. How about 9ish this Sunday?

cbel cbel Message cbel
Aug '10

I'm up and around very early so anytime at all is OK with me. So 9:00 it is then.

I believe Clyde and I will be there and 9:00 is good

Firefly, it was good, not as good as the Legion, but well worth your $6.00. Hope you can join us.

The Legion has better pancakes but their biscuits are stinko. Just sayin'.

cbel cbel Message cbel

cbel i am sure the legion would be open to having you come in and make the biscuits for there breakfast days :)

To heck with pancake and biscuits....I just like the beer prices at the Legion. And of course lovely Sharon the bartender :)

Calico: Yes, but not at 9 am, I don't think. :) Will we ever see you and DH for breakfast?

cbel cbel Message cbel
Aug '10

Cbel - 9 am too early for beer? Not for us....LOL We have been known to start at 7 am.

Not sure about breakfast....DH likes to sleep in on Sundays usually and I have my crossword puzzle ritual. It would be more likely if we ever have one at Apple Mountain though. That's only 5 minutes away for us as H'town is about 25 minutes.

Calico696 Calico696 Message Calico696

OK, so let's plan on an Apple Mountain breakfast. I think the Legion is the 2nd Sunday. How about after that?

cbel cbel Message cbel
Aug '10

Sunday 9/19 (third Sunday) would be perfect. It will be an NFL Sunday....DH and I will be raring to go....LOL Thank goodness it's breakfast and not lunch...then we would have to miss it.

Firefly was there herself. Remember Flubber & DD came towards the end. when they thought it was upstairs?

Apple Mountain sounds like a great thing to try out - the 19th looks good.

It's also the Street Fair in Hackettstown.

Clyde that was at the Knights of Columbus I think. I attended the Moore St Fire House in the past and was not a big fan. Maybe I am confusing the places. I know I loved the pancakes at the Legion. cbel's review is about the firehouse I believe.

I'm looking forward to trying the breakfast at Top of the Green at Apple Mountain. Have never tried the breakfast, although have been there for dinner many times. The food is very good and reasonably priced. They have a good chef.

I think it would also be a great HH spot, if people would be willing to travel a little bit. They have good HH specials. We'll see what people think of it after we do the breakfast.

Firefly: We didn't go to the firehouse after your review. I was talking about the Knights of Columbus. It's so easy to get confused anymore. Anyway, I hope to see you on Sunday.

For some reason (don't know why now for the life of me) I thought you were going to the Firehouse this Sunday. I loved the Knights....no review needed ( still love the legions pancakes though). It will kill my (watching what I eat) diet but we'll see.

cbel - Also Alison's DH and we briefly met her friend that posts periodically about St Mary's. (sorry, I have an idea of the name but don't want to screw it up)

The biscuits are nothing short of culinary dynamite... Not to mention the potatoes, sausage, and bacon will please the toughest critics. Nothing short of an over flowingly positive review. Recommended to all. (that was DevilJet asking no?? or did I get that wrong?)

GC: It's funny how tastes differ. I love KOC biscuits, sausage, bacon, and made-to-order eggs (over light for me), but I wouldn't give you a nickel for their potatoes. The Legion has the good ones...again, for my tastes.

P.S. I'm sorry, Alison. I didn't see your husband.

Oops, oops, oops. I actually meant DS not DH. That's why I really hate all that DW, DH, DS, DD stuff. I should originally just have said her son was there. I did actually see husband too, although it was more like crossing paths, momentarily, while he had the ipod earphones on, in his own world, right on past me..... ;-)

cbel - I like the Legion potatoes too, but K of C are good too to me. I ate too much. Too much to partake in the ShopRite Ice Cream Social for some strange reason. I guess jrsemom and crew saved them selves for it and satisfied the chocolate craving. Strange, after eating at Moma's I thought the kids lived off of spinach and parsley... ;-) (nice seeing you)

It was nice seeing you too GC. We let them have the treat of ice cream since it was for a good cause. Normally it wouldn't be allowed before lunch but just once wouldn't hurt.

Great breakfast this morning, need to see if we can get one of the longer tables next time so we can all sit together. It was like playing musical chairs from one table to another.
K of C has great french toast and potatoes! Thanks guys!

Bessie Bessie Message Bessie
Sep '10

SR ice cream social was a dollar donation to get some ice cream and they give pounds of food to the food bank. Good cause. Also they have a used book sale going on that benefits the food bank.

Mama's = site of an HL lunch where jrsemom's kids show they like veggies. One dejectedly says "what, no spinach??" and the other says "parsely, I *love* parsley". And I say, "how many times do you hear kids say that". ;-)

GC: Thanks. Now I remember the parsely.
