Independence & Mansfield police seekhelp to solve rash of home burglaries
Police in Independence and Mansfield townships are seeking the public's help regarding a string of house burglaries today in both communities.
Police said the break-ins happened between 8:30 this morning and 12:30 this afternoon on Rockport and Mount Bethel roads in Mansfield, and on Mount Bethel and Russling roads in Independence.
A suspicious male was seen in the area of Mount Bethel Road about 11 o'clock, and police were looking for more leads about either the person or any suspicious vehicle activity.
Independence Township police Chief Dennis Riley declined late tonight to release details about the burglaries.
Police ask anyone who saw suspicious activity to call Independence Township at 908-852-4440 or Mansfield Township at 908-852-0003

Why release details? At least, how about a little more of a description of the person or vehicle if there was one?
Reggie Voter- I guess it's good to release the details bc I know a lot of people who don't lock their doors around here....so they may just want people to take extra steps to protect their stuff
I guess what I meant was if someone saw a suspicious male, they most likely have a little bit more of a description to give. Why not release it? It might jog someone's memory or alert others on what to look for.

Is right tell us what to look for and we will a string is how many 2,3,5, 17, 100, homes ?
I know whose house it was who got burgularized. He just told me about it today. The person even took his kids money from his piggy bank. What a piece of crap.
Seems like burglaries are on the rise these days. In yesterdays NJ Herald they were looking for people involved in 15 + burglaries (I believe it was) in the Stillwater NJ area. Then in todays paper they mentioned some in Byram as well.
Maybe they're breaking into houses and stealing the meat out of people's freezers...
Hey......looks like a new store opened recently that sure looks like a pawn shop, right on Main Street. Sign says they buy gold, jewlry, antiques etc. Glad to see the stolen stuff can stay local LOL.
