toy towne closing?
is Toy Towne in mansfield closing? on the events page here, says that bookloft is taking their space. I've been there many times, but they never seem to have the toy we were looking for & inventory never seemed to move off the shelves....o i'm not surprised if they need to close.
It is true the the Book Loft is moving into their space. TYhe rents there are ridiculous. Actually the rents everywhere are ridiculous! Its a wonder there are so many empty buildings. I inquired about one of them by Toy Towne and it was $8,000 a month! Thats crazy. Thats alot of product to sell to make the rent every month. The STrip malls hope to get Big Box stores in them becasue those are th only ones that can afford the rentals.
When I was at AT&T this weekend the signs on the building showed that Book Loft was moving to the very end of the building, not where Toy Towne is.
The lady in Book Loft told me that she was moving to the end, not to Toy Towne's spot.
There is a classified ad on here for the end of the Book Loft sale and it states in the ad that they are moving to the Toy Towne location. I guess we will have to wait and see.
I liked Toy Towne, it was a nice store to find gifts in and they had the nicest hand decorated gift bags. It's a shame a nice little store like that is closing, but if the rents are really that high how can anyone stay in business?
In Book Loft last night to take advantage of the sales and the owner said that Toy Towne is closing. The bookstore is moving to their location and will save a bunch on rent. He said they have a number of sections that don't sell as well and they'll be able to cut down on those to save space.
I would not be sad to see Toy Towne go. Thought there prices were too high.
I am sad to see any store go. And especially Toy Towne. They had wonderful, different types of toys - not the same old stuff you see in Target, Walmart, or Toys R Us. And the ladies there were awesome, especially Mary. Their prices aren't low, but neither is the quality of the products they sell. I hope they hold onto their Flanders store.
Colette- The Flanders store is closed, they had 3 stores, in Mansfield, Flanders and Whitehouse Station, the Mansfield one is the only one currently still opening, and I was there over the weekend and spoke with them, and within the next 2 to 3 weeks, the store will be shutting its doors for good.
That's too bad. But the only time I shopped there was Christmas. So I wasn't much help. Are they having a clearance sale?
Toytowne was having trouble making ends meet. They alienated their suppliers by not paying their bills; when that happens, the supplier will not ship them merchandise. Thus; they cannot order and their shelves become barren...see a pattern here? Quite frankly; they opened up those three stores too quickly, and one on top of the other. Not good business judgement. That, linked to the sluggish economy, is the reason of their demise.
