West Nile Virus Found in Hackettstown?
http://www.njherald.com/story/news/23West-Nile
Is there an update? I was notified by a neighbor today, the story above was from July 22nd.
Yes, I heard about that Reggie a few weeks ago. Could never find a decent link though. Thanks for posting.
Here's a great TRUE story....
A couple years ago when West Nile was hitting the news big time, my neighbor found an almost dead crow in his driveway. He called the police and animal control. Since it was Sunday and nobody was available to deal with it, he was asked to pick it up and store it in his freezer until the following afternoon!
Uh..................WHAT????????????
And no, he didn't.
so weird..i posted this 2 weeks ago but it only showed up when i log in from work

After I got a flyer about West Nile Virus being found in mosquitos in Hackettstown, I drove by a dead bird that looked like a crow on the side of Allen Road. I called the Warren County Health Dept number on the flyer.
After answering lots and lots of questions (I'm calling because I know there's West Nile around, so why ask if I touched this dead bird?), I finally said "Do with this information what you will," and ended the call.
The next day someone knocked on my door in Port Murray, about 7 miles from where I saw the dead crow. There was a couple on the front step. They told my daughter that they had placed a mosquito trap in our yard because I'd called to report a dead crow. She told them that was on Allen Road in Mansfield, but they just shrugged.
My husband called the next day, curious about the connection between a dead crow 7 miles away and our house. He was told that it was put there "by mistake" and the trap had already been moved.
The dead crow was moved from where I saw it so maybe it was picked up.
Can geese get West Nile. I'd assume they could. I saw a dead goose at Mt. Lake today. Wonder if I should call. I never got the flyer though.
More positive test results for West Nile in Independence and Oxford. I know for fact the mosquitos have been unreal here this year in Oxford. It's been almost impossible for us to sit out on our back deck at dusk this summer:

Tell me about it Vic. I cannot go outside after dusk without dousing myself in Off (what I consider my summer perfume...LOL).
