Summer Pet Photos 2010

Oops! I was supposed to start this thread on the first day of summer -- my bad! So, here's a spot for people to post pictures of their "pets" (domesticated or otherwise) enjoying the lazy, hazy, hot, & humid days of summer!
This one is just a picture of our pond, but in it are koi, goldfish, and frogs, among other flora and fauna! (I know, kinda lame, but it's all I got right now.)
Post away!

That is a lovely pond Hopeful. It looks familar. Hmmm. Here is a picture of mine. We just had to replace the liner. What a pain!

Ponds are wonderful Nosila. Go for it! I'd be happy to answer any questions you might have.
:) Here is a picture of some of my Koi.
My neighbor had a pond with koi in it and something came and ate them all that that was left were bones floating. She tried it again and put wire mesh over it and once again thye came and ate them and tore the mesh. I suspect a bear.....
So far none of mine have been eaten. But my area is pretty busy. Not too bear friendly and my Koi are quite large most weigh about 12-14 lbs.
Very nice ponds, everyone! I blame myself for this becoming a Summer Pond Photo thread, lol! Suzique, did someone design your pond? Ours was there when we bought the house, but then my friend's brother Charlie spruced it up and has done some nice landscape design on our property.
Our fish seem to be okay in the pond, although our pump is laboring and things are a bit murky right now. They even made it through the winter.
Thanks, Mich, for the pics of Lacey!
More pets (and ponds, I guess), please! :o)

Hey Hopeful. Your pond is very old if it's where I think it is. :) Does it have a liner now? I believe it used to be or still is cement. My brother and I designed my pond. It was a lot of work but worth it. LOL Oh and just so the thread isn't all ponds....meet one of my four cats... Leonardo. Happy Sunday All.
Suzique, we leave up near the college, and yes, I think the pond is pretty old. I don't know how long it has been there, but it was there when we bought the house 15 years ago. It does have a liner now; it was not really active for awhile, but then Charlie brought it back to life.
Pretty kitty! :o)
I knew I knew that pond. My best friend growing up lived in your house. It is a beautiful home. I also live near the college. Your pond is easily 60 years old. I remember asking my dad about it when I was young and he remembered it from when he was young. I always wanted to fill it and put fish in it when I was little! It always had a little water in it. So my friend and I would find turtles and bring them to the pond but...they never stuck around. LOL
Thanks, Suzique! And thanks for the info on the pond! Was your friend in the family with a big bunch of children? They had a kid in every room, I think, lol! Even a teenager in the basement! The original owner of the house was, I believe, the chief of police in town -- the house is almost 100 years old, so this is going back a ways. We also heard there used to be a tennis court in the back yard and that "girls" at Centenary (when it was all women) used to rent rooms in the house, too. There are little sinks in the closets in two of the bedrooms.
Hey feel free to bring more turtles over, and I'll take a picture of them for this thread! :o)
We now have a pet bear......he used to just come by at night but now he comes whenever....Today he came out to check out my gardens while I was gardening mid day
Thanks Calico! We're pretty fond of him (read ABSOLUTELY CRAZY) as well, haha

My mom adopted a 14 month old cat this weekend..It's the orange one..He is the most gentle cat ever! He tried to share ice cream with my nephew..So cute!
Um.. how do you get your cats to hug each other? None of my cats wants anything to do with the others! That is really adorable.
Lucky has such pretty eyes- What breed is Lucky?
Beautiful flowers too wish mine looked like that
I like the blanket pic Kenzie. It's like she just got done with a hard day and fell, OOMPH, into the blankie..
LOL Lori, it's a tough life for a kitten! Wakes mommy up at five, wants to play fetch, eat some food, walk in circles, streeeetch, rest her paws... Nap... Wait for mommy to get home... play with catnip... go to bed. Repeat.
Ianimal!!! That's such a cute kitten! That's kind of what my little girl looked like when I first adopted her. But she had a pink bed and a pink blanket. LOL... What's his name?
Lori, Tray works too. Lot of my friends call me that.
Nosila, Lucky is a mongrel. Haha. We rescued her at 7 weeks and she had 4 brothers. One was black with some white markings, one was a darker yellow lab color, and two were brindle colored. Lucky is solid white. We were told she was Lab/Australian shepherd, but she's pretty small, only 40 lbs. Almost certain she has terrier, Italian greyhound, and possibly some kind of bull in her. She loves to dig, hunt, run, squeak her toys and snuggle. She has a bark that is much bigger than you'd expect from her size, and bark she does.
Kenzie, I love the first pic. Kitty is looking at the camera like, "what the heck is that thing, lady, and what are you doing with it?"
ianimal - peanut is sooo beautiful! She looks like such a little sweetheart : )
Sorry Sorry Sorry! I shouldn't assume blue=boy. Peanut! How sweet! Oh I just wanna hug her! How does she get around?
Tracy- It took me like seven tries to even get the picture because she kept sniffing the camera so all of the pics were just her nose! LOL
Okay, this is way too much cuteness for me to handle now, and it's making me wish I was home with my kitty.
"This is way too much cuteness for me to handle now"
I guess this isn't the time to dig out that old picture I have of a young Tigger in the cradle with Pookie his teddybear...
ah these are all adorable , my dog is dying she is old and i am devastated because she is my baby, i am not dealing very well crying alot not sure whats wrong, ran a bunch of tests may be lukemia doc not sure without a bone marrow aspiration, i dont think she could survive test so i cant do it , she is on prednisone and comfortable , i know i will know when it is time , but i am devastated , sorry needed to vent
Sorry to hear that cowgirl. I have an ill cat as well and I know it's rough. Feel free to vent to us here, no need to be sorry.
Calico- What an adorable pup! <3
Cowgirl- I am sorry for what you're going through. You can talk to us about it, we all understand pet love! <3
So sorry to hear about your "baby" cowgirl. You always have a sympathetic ear here, as there are so many pet lovers among us. Keeping you in my prayers.
That pic of peanut & the bear is too cute. I love how she's chomped onto the head so that her feet can shred the bear's legs. Poor bear...
Cowgirl- You are def on a forum filled with animal lovers so like others said don't be sorry. I hope this helps I remember reading it and it is really true. Just enjoy the time your have and think of all the postive memories. Nothing we say will make it easier on you but we are all here to listen
A Dog's purpose - from a 4 year old
Being a veterinarian, I was called to examine a ten year old Irish wolfhound named Belker. The dog's owners, Ron, his wife Lisa and their little boy, Shane, were all very attached to Belker and they were hoping for a miracle.
I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told the family we couldn't do anything for Belker, and offered to perform the euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home.
As we made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told me they thought it would be good for the four-year-old Shane to observe the procedure. They felt as though Shane might learn something from the experience.
The next day, I felt the familiar catch in my throat as Belker's family surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm, petting the old dog for the last time, that I wondered if he understood what was going on. Within a
few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away. The little boy seemed to accept Belker's transition without any difficulty or confusion.
We sat together for a while after Belker's death, wondering aloud about the sad fact that animal lives are shorter than human lives.
Shane, who had been listening quietly, piped up, "I know why."
Startled, we all turned to him. What came out of his mouth next stunned me. I'd never heard a more comforting explanation.
He said, "People are born so they can learn how to live a good life -- like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right?" The four-year-old continued, "Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don't have to stay as long."
Calico, it looks like she REALLY wants to get in those impatiens though...pretty Daisy.
Cowgirl -- sending plenty of thoughts and prayers your way. It's so, so difficult when they get up there in years. Why, oh why, can't they live as long as we do? It's just not fair.
thank you nosila and rebecka that was beautiful , its so hard not knowing how much time i have with her , i am afraid to leave for work , i come home at lunch to check on her and i feel so bad for my other dog because she has always had her from day one , i can be strong when they need me but i am soooooooo not good at this , so painful

Love all the kitty pics =)....almost makes me want another...cowgirl , like everyone else has said we are here ...this group was wonderful when I lost my Rusty...give her lots of hugs. I will keep you in my thoughts.
Here is my Rusty....
cowgirl1: Please know that every pet owner on this forum is feeling your pain. A friend of mine won't get a puppy, even though she would love one, because she's afraid of the pain when it would be time for it to be put to sleep. But then she also misses the joy we've all had with our special pets. Our memories always get us through. Good luck to you.
cowgirl1 - I felt the same about leaving my beloved kitty alone, when his age started keeping him from eating and his eyesight was going. Someone gave me advice about giving my kitty kisses and talking with him before I went to work for the day. They also helped me put it in perspective, knowing that he was up in age; he was very loved and he would be fine when the time was to come.
I still miss him after 20yrs., but the stories I laugh about now, make up for the heartache I had when he passed.
thank you all , you are very caring people , i do give her lots of kisses and rub her back to make her feel better , i have no energy to do anything i just want to be with her and am afraid she will go when i am not home , i know there is nothing i can do again thank you to all
Don't be afraid to leave her she may want you to leave when the time comes....just like a lot of cats and dogs disappear into the woods when it's time. You're doing everything right by spending the time you can with her
cherie that is a beautiful picture. nosila thank you that statment made me remember my shepard when i was young she went outside went down the walkway came back for a few minutes and was gone she died in the woods , the funny thing is she was never in the woods we kept her in the back yard or in the house so you are right she new it was her time and left , i forgot this for awhile thank you that is comforting that maybe when they know it is time they are ready even though we never will be
cowgirl - I am so sorry. May the memories of your beloved pet comfort you at this sad time.
Luckygirl- How cute? Your dog looks like a lab however the fact it's scared to jump into the water makes me question that lol
Labs swim on there own terms. There way. Maybe 3 inches and later may get better. My daughters lab is like that my golden swims like a duck. But they will go if you throw a stick.
so sorry for your loss cowgirl. in your heart she lives on...and now she is free of any pain or discomfort. *HUGS*
sorry for your loss cowgirl -- losing a pet is definitely one of life's most difficult obstacles...
Cowgirl.. I am so sorry to hear about your loss. We all understand how sad this is, and we are all here for you! Remember, all dogs go to heaven. <3

Nosila,
She is a Lab X. The way down to the water is by a 4 rung (sp?) pool ladder. If I called her in she would have done it, but the tide was coming in and earlier the bank by the ladder was almost dry so she would have had a resting area. There was no way I would have been able to lift 45 ( moving) lbs over my head to put her back on the dock safely. Here's a different pic. :)
thank you rebecka71 that is what i said to her when i buried her last night , i hope she will be waiting for me
She will be, cowgirl1. I really believe she's on the other side rollicking around like the puppy she used to be.
cowgirl1: Sorry to hear about your loss. My heart feels for you and your family.
Cowgirl,
Someone posted or sent this to me when I lost my lulu last year. It is very moving... will make you cry, but I really loved the message.
http://www.indigo.org/rainbowbridge_ver2.html
again thank you all ,
rebecka thank you for video very moving , yes until we meet again my angel . kisses to my chili monster
Cowgirl
I am sorry for your loss , But as long as you remember this part of your family they are never far away , you will see them in your mind . in a cloud floating over head , running though a grassy field , you will hear that bark ,feel there tail hit your leg . and they will know that you loved them and did what was ever need to care for them ,
the Wolf is my spirit guide and i will ask for safe passage for your pet and freind
Blessed Be Cowgirl be well and be at peace .
cage animal that was absolutly beautiful thank you
and thank you to all for your comments it really has helped
So so so sorry, cowgirl. Can you post a pic of your dog? We would love to see your friend in her happier days!
Ianimal, Peanut is just precious! I know, I know, she's a monster, but she's still pretty darn cute! Have you told her story already?
Great photos, everyone!
No, I haven't Hopeful. It's a good story, but a rather lengthy one. If I have time sometime this weekend, I'll tell the Tale of Peanut, if you're really interested.
yes interested about peanut
i will try to post photo tonight , i need hubbys help i would love to show you her picture thank you
John your cat looks just like my Lacey (the smaller one) . The yare like cream colored. She is small for her age

The small one is Jerry Lee, I just lost her to cancer a while back. Her twin Tom misses her so much! He still carries her favorite toy around the house looking for her.
Oh Im so sorry:( My cat is very tiny for 14 months..And she eats alot she is always meowing for food.
john c
that is so sad sorry for your loss , i know the pain, my dog beanie is mourning our chili monster we lost to cancer tues. again so sorry

My nine year old Shetland Sheepdog, enjoying (or not) the summer heat. Perhaps a trip to Ritas can cool him off.

Not really my pet, but a baby bird fell out of it's nest into my garden. Too far for me to reach, I brought out an old nest found a couple of years ago. The baby bird moved right in and the Mom and Pop have been taking turns feeding it.
Great pictures, everyone! John C, that's a great story -- you just left the nest on the ground? That is so interesting -- a good reason to keep nests that you find abandoned.
The other day in Great Meadows I drove by a doe nursing two fawns in someone's yard. I neglected to take a picture, but now you have a mental image. It was very cool.
It's funny to be seeing these kind of spring-like scenes in the middle of the summer...

My beloved Robert (Bobby). He will be leaving me forever tomorrow. He has been battling with illness since October. He will be sorely missed. After 16 years, I can't imagine my life without him, but we are ready to let him go :(
Calico: I have taken three precious cats to be put down. I've held them until they passed on. I truly believe they're now kittens rollicking around in a better place. Please know that however it's hard for you, you're doing the right thing for Bobby.
calico696
i feel your pain , and am so sorry , it is so difficult , but knowing in our hearts to not be selfish and do whats best for them is the best gift you can give him , I wanted to hold onto my chili and she was so so sick from cancer i knew i had to let her go peacefully , and i held her head and kissed her and told her what a good girl she was , she went peacefully and so to will
bobby , and you will find comfort in that , and that you gave him a wonderful life , that is why i adopted another today , there is no replacment , but some comfort in giving another in need a chance , best to you
Oh boy, this thread touches the heartstings. Anyone who has ever loved and lost a pet can feel for you Calico (and others who are going through the same thing who posted here). May you have strength tomorrow.

Thank you everyone, it was a very hard thing for my DH and I. My little man is gone now. No more sickness for him. RIP Bobby.
Calico - I know you were still upset this afternoon, but remember he's at peace now and no longer suffering. From what you had said he had his chances already, and at 16 years his time had just come. May we all pass with such a good life behind us with loved ones at our side...

WE DID IT!!!!!! ---------------------------->
Literally!
Our German Shepherd Dogs successfully mated today -- first time for both of them. We are BEYOND excited! Puppies in 2 months, hopefully!
Rebecka,
They both look rather confused...Maybe they're wondering where their cigarettes are...?
Congrats Rebecka and make sure to post pictures. And So Sorry for your loss Calico you are in my thoughts and prayers.
Yes, that pic needs a caption! I'm not feeling very creative -- I'm sure someone here will come up with a beaut!
Male is on the left (90 lbs), female on the right (75). Hard to see when they're lying down. Female is a "fluffy" -- fur a bit longer than short-haired, but not a full-out long-haired dog. I'm predicting some spectacular puppies!
That picture looks like their lawyer just told them the injunction keeping the video off the internet just failed... Is his name Tommy by any chance??
Haha! The boy in the goggles and Porkchop are obviously getting a kick out of each other... or sharing an inside joke. Great shot!!
Maddie is adorable, Nosila. Is she doing better at night?
Poor Salem is right. I'm surprised she's not permanently hiding under the bed after this!
Ha Ha Tracy- She actully has not hid under the bed since we brought home her sister
Maddie is doing better at night for the most part. I got so spoiled with Salem because she was an awesome puppy. Salem was so quick to potty train Maddie not so quick. But so happy we got her she is a lot of fun and Salem is SOOOOOO happy :)
haha, I didn't even notice that! DS and the friend in the back are all about the pic, but PC and the other friend are making a connection! LOL
PC has only swam in the pool once. It's not really his thing. He prefers rivers & streams where he can touch the bottom. I'm hoping to change this little by little...
I don't have a pic, which is probably a good thing, but PC apparently found himself a pile of bear pooh (?) or some other type of prize this morning and decided to cover himself in it. Poor DH called me to fill me in...after he bathed PC and lost his breakfast. What a guy! I am soooo glad I had already left for work, haha
Lori, Lucky is the same about water. She will walk into a stream or something, but she HATES being in over her head. We took her to a friend's house with an in-ground pool and BF kept taking her in. She swims so hard and splashes like crazy, but it's all really at an attempt to not drown I think. Once she's out, she runs around like a lunatic. It's kind of funny, but I feel bad, she's just not a water dog.
Calico
I am a little late with this. all i can do is I am sorry for your loss of this sweet family member. and its going to hurt like hell to let him go . But we have to know that we are intrussed with their care and they truss ust to care for them no matter what road or path we must take. these are just words on a screen , but i have read your words . and know where your heart is and its a true loveing and careing heart , and your family member knows , so fear not you have done what was needed. Blessed be Calico
I will call apond my spirit guide the wolf to aid him in his jourrny
and remember they are always with us just a thought and their there

Apparently Buddy feels that Aidan isn't the only one who should get to go to camp. He put the backpack on and is ready to go!
I think her Grandmother had part rabbit in her....I think her ears keep getting bigger too
Lori - I think cats know when someone is getting ready to leave. Before trips, our cats always plunk themselves in our suitcases. It's like they don't want us to go anywhere. Buddy might not want Aidan to leave.
Either that, or suitcases and backpacks just make really good beds!

"It's like they don't want us to go anywhere." - It's not that you shouldn't go, we just want to come along. And we already know what kind of "vacation" we're getting in one of those stinking carriers. A vacation with a four inch needle on the other end of it....
"Either that, or suitcases and backpacks just make really good beds!" - A suitcases is equivalent to a nice box made out of a scratching pad. What's not to like about that? I love a good box. Really. Nothing like a good box.

Can I come to work daddy? Please? Pretty please, with me on top... Oh forget it, I'll just take a snooze right here...
Rebecka, Buddy always hops into the suitcase as well, haha. Our other cat and PorkChop never do. I think they like to get rid of us!
And GC, Buddy's new bed is DH's old laptop backpack. DH gave up and let the cat have it. Secretly I think it was his excuse to buy a new one, but now both DH & Buddy are happy, so I can't complain.
The pets rule this house...

they are not pets but this doe and her 2 fawns stop by and visit us on a regular basis...here they are bedded down...

Everyone, great pics -- thanks for sharing!
oldman, shots of our wild "pets" are quite welcome and appreciated!
Lori, I love Pork Chop's spirit! That photo reminds me of Grochowicz Farm down on Route 31 in Glen Gardner where the goats climb all over this kind of jungle gym! The attached picture of the goats is from someone's Flick'r page, but it doesn't quite do the whole scene justice. Think of something bigger than Francine's climber with all sizes of goats lounging around on all the levels. Hilarious!
Here is a picture of my dear cocker spaniel Jazzy. She is in the hospital right now very ill. Please pray for her. Idont want to think about losing her right now.
Sorry the picture was already posted so it wont post again. UGG!
Christine, so sorry about Jazzy.
Here's a link to a thread in which you posted a picture of Jazzy -- so cute!
http://www.hackettstownlife.com/forum/158780#t162292
Good luck and keep us posted.
Thanks hopeful.. I am so upset. Last cocker died of cancer. Just cant deal with another one going right now...
Jazzy seems to be a lil better this morning. She ate a bit and is at least walking.
Christine - Glad to hear that Jazzy is feeling a little better. Will continue to think good thoughts for her. Please keep us updated.
Glad to hear it, Christine. Keeping little Jazzy in my thoughts. Hope she makes a full and speedy recovery.
Jazzy woke up pretty good today. She is walking and she ate her special food and took her meds with no trouble. You can tell she isnt quite back to normal but she is better.
Thanks for all the prayers.
Hopeful, I know that farm! haha, I have told DH several times that we need to get PC a goat as a companion. Now I see just how compatible they would be. Too funny!

And...here's our two adorable spoiled puppies. The mixed breed, Foxy, is 13 years old and happily welcomed our newly rescued shih tzu, Rikki into our famiy a few months ago. Never a dull moment..but enjoying every single one with the two of them.
Isricc - Congratulations on your rescued cutie Rikki; and Foxy is soooo beautiful!!!!!
Thank you Sunshine. Our two cuties are so wonderful and we adore them. I think that they have trained us very well!!!!
Chistine I hope your Jazzy is feeling better. Is Jazzy a Blue Roan we were thinking of getting one. We had a fawn color cocker Spaniel about eight years ago and I just found a breeder that has blue Roans which I have never see before they are very handsome. Jazzy looks like one in the picture. How is their temperment.
Jazzy is feeling better everyday. Yu can tell she isnt herself but better. thanks for asking. We resued her and I am not sure if she is a Blue Roan. She is full breed cocker spaniel is what the vet told us. Her temperment is very easy going. She is getting old and starting to lose patience with little kids and other dogs.
Lori OMG another great pet picture!! You should have put PC in the face. Get it. PORK. chop.
Har.
More great stuff, folks -- thanks for sharing!
Hey, Mich, maybe you could take a good picture of the goats on the Grohowicz goat climber and post it here! :o)
Rebecka - A box is even better than clean laundry. Better even than climbing into the dryer to be on the warm clean laundry....
Salem says "Window? What window? You have NO proof!" haha
And that little one is even smaller than I thought. Having her next to the cat gives a better picture.
Cat says "Sheesh, they blame ME for everything...". LOL
Lori- Yes Maddie is just a little thing.....however she is the bully in the house. We have to yell at her to be nice to Salem and the cat. She beats them up pretty bad.
I guess Jazzy is still feeling better? Good news! That little one looks like he got caught on his way to being up to no good, lol
Yes Jazzy is feeling better. She still isnt normal but better. Rocko is a big trouble maker for sure. All he wants to do is play and jazzy wants nothing to do with him. They will play tug of war sometimes.,
Seriously, your Maddie is part Cottontail, Nosila. I think you need to add carrots and lettuce to her diet.
ha ha, I actually do feed her carrots....I'm trying to get both dogs off dog food so the both eat carrots and other veggies.
Even the vet said for a Westie she has big ears...lol
Hopeful I will try to.Planning on getting ice cream there sometime this week so at least I will be out of teh car..I usually just drive by

Here's Peanut... carb-loading on mom's gluten-free pancakes (better her than me, lol) in preparation for the Friction in the Kitchen (sorry... it's the best I could come up with...)

The scrappy newcomer starts strong... staying in close to negate the crafty veteran's sizeable reach advantage:
ianimal, the last picture is just PRECIOUS!! I love how you got them both to look at the camera. Poor Peanut.
I love how Peanut's front end is down, but she's still on her feet. Ready to spring into action the moment the Big Guy isn't paying attention. Too cute!
Great pictures and commentary Ian...Peanut really is a peanut, how old is she? The other cat is beautiful, what's it's name again. I'm sure you've mentioned it, but old age is upon me, LOL.
Calico.... thanks... ;)
She has a nervous condition (?) where she licks the fur off her belly, right down to her little knees.... been doing that for more than 7 years now.
She also thinks she's supposed to sit p or lie down like her people do.
Hopeful I will try to.Planning on getting ice cream there sometime this week so at least I will be out of teh car..I usually just drive by -- Mich
Thanks, Mich -- I usually just drive by, too, after my double-take. Those goats always take me by surprise! I'm gonna try to stop next time!
Great pics, everyone!

Look at my new, beautiful rooster, which I got from jenninjgirl!! I gave her 2 hens in exchange, but let me tell you, the hens were not as gorgeous as this golden-laced banty! Her neighbors didn't like the rooster crowing, and we don't have any close neighbors to complain. This guy is such a trip. He flies really well, so he spends the night, I kid you not, on the roof! I suppose he's safe from predators up there, but still!
Hi Rebecka !!! Great pic of Teeny !! The hens are doing well, the haven't yet been accepted as part of the flock and they don't sleep in the coop but i am hopeful this will all happen soon !! I also have a smaller coop that we put chicks in when they are small, i put the girls in there last night as i am really worried about them sleeping outside !!! But we are loving them !!!! Thanks again !!!!!!!!!
Jenn - we love Teeny!!! He's such a character. But seriously, he needs to stop sleeping on the roof of the house! lol And yes, he is cocky -- struts his stuff all around the yard with the bigger chickens. Really holds his own.
Purple is not my color! That's the caption for Tiki, Lori!
You should rename Buddy "Badass"... he's got it going on and doesn't care who knows it.
Well aren't Rebekah and Jenn just the little farm girls, LOL. Honestly, I would love to visit you both to see your zoo's. Jenn, last time I saw you I think you only had your dogs.
OMG Teeny (the little rooster) slept on the roof right outside our bedroom window last night, and woke us up with a not-so-teeny COCK-A-DOODLE-DOOOOOOOO this morning at 6:38.
I swear, it was like a cartoon or a movie or something. I thought it was pretty hysterical. DH -- not so much.
I will say that's a mighty fine looking rooster you have, does it crow (I think that's what it's called) early in the morning? We live in town and someone a few doors down had one for 4H...the first time I heard it I thought I was hearing things. Nope,, that thing was up at the crack of dawn and let you know it!
Rebecka: From reading all your posts, I think I want to take a mini vacation at your home.
LOL Bessie, you are always welcome to stop by and visit !!! The chickens are great, we love having all of them !
Rebecka, I cannot believe he is sleeping on the roof, once you get the coop in place all should be ok, he was always in the coop by 8:30 the latest ... unless he prefers the roof now!
CBEL, Rebecka's house was BEAUTIFUL !!!!! When we left my 4 year old daughter said "Mom, this place is gorgeous" lol

i just took this picture about an hour ago...the deer are having a great time eating acorns on my property...i took this picture from my deck

He came to have dinner with us......
Before people start yelling at me for having garbage where the bear can get it....it's not our garbage

Maddie is tucked in for the night......Salem is sound asleep under the bed
Salem would never let me do this to her....Maddie loves blankies
Yes, we are doing much better....She now goes outside or on the wee pads which I dont like but its better than not using them
Yes, both Salem and Maddie are spoiled as can be

I caught these two funny looking dogs eating my bushes. Does anyone have the Animal Control Officers number?
Wow, Sugar -- that's your cat, right? What is s/he doing?
BTW, Nosila -- adorable doggie! :o)
cbel,
He sure is. The poor kid is cursed (w/good looks that is) haha. Some of his pictuers from younger days look just like mine, just different hairstyles. It's pretty funny.
So cute, Calico -- thanks for posting Oliver here!
Lori, I can't believe you got PorkChop to pose on that scooter!

Hopeful - I'm the human that Tigger & Sugar own... (notice the gravatar??) That's Sugar in the picture giving her new door knob carpet swatch scratch toy the full attack hanging in mid-air Ninja assault experience. Any doubts about what it might be laced with??
Lori - JRT's don't recover, they just take a short pause. Who took who for a ride??
Don't worry Miss Scarlett, tomorrow's another day. ;-)
GC, I should have known that was an animal's post, lol! I'm not a cat person, but I assume it's catnip on that doorknob toy? Funny pic!
Suzique, great dog -- what's the breed (or is it a mixture)?
Hopeful - "catnip" - ding, ding, ding, we have a winner here....
Christine - the last pic is a smile, but the one before it is the reaction you get when you tell a cat the only thing left to eat in the house is dog food...
Suzique - Is it me or what ever Sandy has around her neck looks like a zipper. I keep expecting a hand to reach out, pull down the zipper, and a 4 year old jumps out of the dog suit... In any case, I'd guess German shepherd (ears/face) & collie (coat color) mix. They can be very nicely smart and yet calmer than an everyday shepherd. I knew a German shepherd/husky mix once that got all the bad head strong/attitude traits from the shepherd and all the husky muscle to enforce her will. Her name was "Uncontrollable Mitzi" - she wasn't named that way, but for some odd reason you never heard one name without the other...

Sandy is a shepherd mix. Who knows what else. She actually looks alot like a Dingo. She is very smart and very well behaved. Through no effort on my part. LOL I am not a sit stay roll over kind of dog owner. She did it all on her own. Her biggest vice is that she REFUSES to walk nicely on a leash. She is 9 years old. She was rescued from a building fire in Hawthorne NJ along with 5 of her littermates. We just love her. Oh,and yes she is rather spoiled. :)
Not only have I made some great friends through HL, but I feel like part of wonderful animal family. Everbody: Your pets are fabulous! If I had the means to post a picture, I would show you my terrific little grandcat, Jasper, who I'm babysitting for the weekend.
I've heard so much about Jasper, I've often wondered... Maybe you should borrow my digital camera for a bit and you could show us. ;-)
love love love all of the pics! keep posting everyone! And cbel, please posts pics of your grandkitty :)
I'll see what I can do. My techie daughter is on vacation this week. Maybe she can teach me a thing or two.
cbel, way to go with posting the pics! Jasper sure is a handsome guy. It's great that you have similar interests ;)
Enjoy him while you have him!
DD and Jasper are both back home. She's the one who posted the pictures. He sure was a joy to have around this weekend!
Cbel, I was really impressed, I thought how great that you knew how to post the pictures, LOL. Thank God for our kids! Japer is a handsome fellow and I love that he's enjoying the same book you are.
You know, if the universe doesn't give you grandchildren, you just have to love what you get. So Jasper is it for me.

I just had to share! It is a rare moment that both Foxy and Rikki stop together long enough to have their picture taken.
suzique: Right! Kind of like these two.

That's great cbel!!!! I guess Foxy would be Arnold and Rikki is Danny. Sandy is soooo cute, suzique!!! I love seeing all of our wonderful pets. I know that Foxy and Rikki are such a part of our family and it's nice to know that we aren't the only ones that spoil our "other kids"!!!

My Mom adopted this cat from a friend at my job. He is 14 months named Tiko and the most lovable cat ever...Heere he is trying to get my sister's bagel..He is very smart
Everybody just loves their pets sooo much, glad to see such a loving bunch of people!!!!
I'm enjoying all the pics, Thanks for sharing : )
haha, he did jump once Bessie, and realized that it was much better ON the kayak!
Well, I was thinking I'd start the Fall Pet Photos thread on Sept. 21, the first day of fall. I'm not one to let summer go too easily... and these asre still great summer shots! What do you guys think?
Hopeful in H-town- That sounds perfect to me.... I also don't want to see Summer leave however fall is my favorite to decorate for!!
OMG ~ Nosila~!!! Maddie is b-e-a-UTIFUL!!! Reminds me of my Basha . . . RIP.
So does Maddie have any brothers or sisters? LOL
Happy2bhere- yes she was one of five. However, I doubt any are left since I got Maddie back in July. Also, Maddie was only $350.00 and if you know anything about Westie's you know that is a steal so I doubt there will be any still left. I will look for the womens number when I get home.
We are also debating on breeding Maddie eventually too. Not to make any money but my Mom and some other family members would like one :)
Snuggle instead of scrunch down, hide, and attack!! Now there's a concept I wish I had known about... ;-)
AWE thats cute! Our dogs were doing that BUT now with Jazzy she wont let anyone touch her still.

One more Summer pet photo, coming in right under the wire! (We should start our Fall thread shortly.)
This is Sassy, our pregnant German Shepherd Dog who is scheduled to drop her puppies on Saturday!! Please everyone say a little prayer that everything goes well. It is her first litter and our first time overseeing the whelping. Everyone is nervous! :-D
Rebecka -- good luck to Sassy, her puppies, and you! We will be looking for those puppy pictures soon. They'll be right in time for the fall thread.
I was thinking we'd start the Fall 2010 Pet Photos thread on Wednesday, which is the first official day of autumn. I'm still seeing lots of green leaves on the trees, lol, and I need a couple days to get one of Cooper in some kind of fall-ish shot to start the thread! :o)
Of course, I don't hold the copyright, so if someone else has a good fall pic, go for it!
Thank you all so much for the good wishes. I will post pics of the squirmy little bundles of fur!
