Pochuck Boardwalk in Vernon, NJ

I just discovered this on the Things To Do in NJ website that someone posted for JA in another thread. Has anyone ever been there? We love to hike and it looks really cool. Sorry about not posting a link...I never have much luck with that.

Is that along the Appalachian Trail?

I looked yesterday and was only able to find two pictures of the board walk. it looks like a nice open field with a narrow board walk going through it.

I guess it would be a nice walk. See if people took more PICTURES of things you would be able to better decide if you wanted to go there.

I actually just looked it up again, not via the previous site, and found quite a few pics someone had taken. They were beautiful! I think that's what we'll do this weekend. I'll take pics too and give a review...

I lived up there and never heard of it. But from what i just read real quick, the AT becomes a part of it for a short distance. It sounds cool. It said something about it going through the flood plain though so i would check on the conditions if you are going this w/e. There is a similar boardwalk type trail at High Point that i like. It's part of the cedar swamp trail if you want to look it up. Part of that could be flooded now too i don't know.

Been there. Definitely a different type of walk. It is not all Boardwalks, but a nice walk. park in the lot on the East side of the trail. Not a loop hike so you have to backtrack unless you walk on the side of roads. Be sure to go when you have enough time to do the entire section.

We decided to pass on this for now. Being a swampy area to begin with, and with the rain we've had recently, I can only imagine it was a haven for mosquitos! We started out on the railroad tressel in Hainesburg and followed that for a while, crossing Rt 80 and the Deleware River. It was a nice walk on a gorgeous day, and boy are my calves screaming today! haha
