Ron Lundy - R.I.P.
Oh, that is sad...his radio shows were a staple on beaches, cars, and parties everywhere during the 60's, and later. I can remember his voice coming through on most
portable radios on beaches, which brings back especially fond memories of the Grove/Sebers, Point Pleasant, Asbury Park, and Long Beach Island. Yes, may he rest in peace...
I don't think that was him, but he was definitely one of the "good guys." I think anyone who grew up with Howard Stern can't possibly appreciate the likes of anyone like Ron Lundy. He was pure joy. Jenkinson's Beach, Point Pleasant, and "Roll your bod." Can't be beat!
I grew up with Ron Lundy. I still use his signature opening line: Hello Luv! He used to do the 10 am show on WABC in the 60s. He was my favorite top 40 disc jockey. He will be missed.
Ron Lundy was one of the greatest discjockeys of all time. A true pro, he was always upbeat and jovial on a perfect weather day or a downpour. The sun shined when Ron was on. I've had great family days on my sea ray boat on lake Hopatcong. It was swimming, fishing, waterskiing, and Ron on WCBS-FM. He also was on WABC and WLS in Chicago "The wild child" a long time ago. I've missed Ron since He retired in Sept 97.
He came back in 98 to do an oldies greats weekend and I drove up to the Lake to record his one hour special. It was a torrential downpour but inside me the sun was burning brightly. I had a tear in my eye when Ron retired, and a tear in my eye today as I heard this sad news.
I never had the honor of meeting Ron, so I'll be looking forward to seeing him on the other side when It' my turn to pass on. So Ron, as you said on your last regular radio show " Goodby Luv".
Note: I purchased a new Boston Whaler Montauk in 2008, The boats name is "Hello Luv". We'll be cruising up the Lake and Sandy hook bay and listen to one of Ron's old sidekicks, Bob Shannon.

Like Cousin Brucie I had always hoped Ron Lundy might someday show up on Sirius radio.
I wish to make a correction of my earlier comment. Ron was not on WLS in chicago a long time ago. He was on WIL in St. Louis. "The WIL Child".
