On-Line Privacy - not any more.
I know that there have been many a comment occasionally on this forum about being careful on what you put out there online.
This is an interesting article in the NYTimes today that can really make you think about what is possible in the future.
Specifically noted - “Personal privacy is no longer an individual thing,” said Harold Abelson, the computer science professor at M.I.T. “In today’s online world, what your mother told you is true, only more so: people really can judge you by your friends.”
I believe that you may have to sign up to receive the free service at NYTimes to see this link - and for those that are not subscribed and do not want to subscribe, I am sorry if you have difficulty in seeing the article.
Otherwise, it is just somethign else to think about in the digital world. Times are a changing!

Very interesting article, Coralie.
Personally, I avoid the social networking sites, save for LinkedIn (because they created a profile for me automatically based on a professional bio found on the web - a really unnerving thing).
I think everyone should carefully manage what they put online. You can't "hide" behind screen names in reality, and Facebook? Why in G-d's name would I want the world to know the minutia of my life?! I refuse to go there, but I realize I'm in the minority. Is there anyone else who posts here who does *not* have a Facebook account?
My DH and I are totally against facebook and for the longest time have refused to get an account, despite the urging of all our our friends and family. The requests from our circle had become so great in recent times, especially with our distant family, and then my daughter is part of some recreational clubs and they practically insisted that the kids join the group in facebook to be kept abreast on meetings, and other important information. Geesh, so finally we gave in 2 weeks ago and I signed up for one, but I REFUSE to post any pictures as I do not agree with the terms, so merely I will use it to have connection with others facebook pages, and occasionally type a shout out.
