Come Bounce With Bear

Does anyone know the history of this sign posted on the Econo Lodge Motel on Rt. 46 in Independence? Why is their slogan "come bounce with bear?"

In order to attract families, the Econolodge mascot is a teddybear. The slogan is supposed to me your kids can bounce on the beds and have fun with teddy. It's just a "family friendly" marketing campaign.

Thanks, GC - I never thought family friendly when I saw that sign - didn't really know what to think! :)

Isn't that motel called the Econo Court Motel? I've heard that they used to have a live bear in the 40's-50's.

I thought it was because the owner was Winnie. And of course the most famous one is Winnie the pooh which is a bear.

BTW - I have been there in my younger years and it was very clean actually.

JA - it actually does look like a pretty well kept place from the outside, as far as motels go.
