Carpal Tunnel Release Surgery

As anyone had the carpal tunnel release surgery done? I am supposed to have it done on monday and just wondering if anyone had experience with this. What is the recovery like?

Here's link to an informative thread form another forum that I frequent:

Good luck and speedy recovery.

My boyfriend's mother had each of her hands done, one before Christmas, and the other in early February. She had to wear a brace for a couple weeks, and no lifting with that hand, but otherwise, she was up and feeling fine two days after.

My Dad had it done and was amazed at how much better he felt almost instantly. His hand was wrapped up for a few weeks to keep it immobilized, and he is doing therapy now, but the pain is GONE. He is very very pleased. The weirdest thing, he said, was that he got used to doing everything with the other hand....and when the bandages came off, he had to get used to his repaired hand all over again!~

Thanks! I really didn't want to go the surgery route but it is so bad that I am up all night in pain and it isn't easy holding the Brady or playing with the twins! I am doing it next week because my sisters are both home all week from college on spring break and my mom is able to help with rugrats LOL!

Are they planning on putting you under? My MIL had this procedure a few weeks ago-with only a local!

I hope you're recovered enough for your trip!! How long is the recovery?

I've had bouts of it in the past and it got worse when I was pregnant. I was told that pregnancy hormones can make carpel tunnel syndrome worse. You might want to consider waiting to make sure it doesn't get better on it's own.

We actually called and changed our reservation with our timeshare so that we wouldn't risk it taking longer to recover.

I have had carpal tunnel problems since before i had my first delivery in 08 of my twins. With my last pregnancy it was awful and they said if it was not gone by the time the baby was 2 to 3 months old than i would need surgery. 4 months later still in pain. I have tried the braces and all the other options but it isn't helping. I am having a hard time picking up my infant because of it.

Dr. Deehan of Skyland's did my hand about eight years ago...I had a local and it took about 1/2 hour. I had a few stitches and was able to type and write within ten days.
