St. Patrick's Day Parade
Earlier this year, I thought I saw a listing for a St. Patrick's Day Parade, on the HL calendar. But when I just went to check on the time, I didn't see the listing. Did I imagine seeing it or has it been cancelled? I know there was one last year and I went and thoroughly enjoyed it. Does anyone have any info on it?
It's on the calendar. March 14th at 3:30. Here is the link.

Mars is sponsoring the parade this year so all the candy given away will Mars candy. Sweet! http://www.hackettstownbid.com/news/2010/1/2010-st-patricks-day-parade-3-14-10
It is March 14 3:30pm! This year we have twice as many bands and floats etc. Go to www.hackettstownbid.com to get your apparel. If you would like a button I have some in my store for sale. The sales of the apparel and buttons help to pay for the cost of the parade.
BLD is correct the BID is proud to announce M&M's as sponsor! Its leprechauns for everyone! LOL! See ya all there.
Thanks all, I feel very dumb. I only looked at Saturday's date and didn't see it. I never thought to look at Sunday. A big DUH for me. Thanks again,I will be there!!
Just a reminder that Bergeys Belly Busters will be in front Sunrise Deli for the parade. He will be there but DS's will be assisting him! Stop by and say hi!
This parade is going to be twice as lobg as last year. Lets all pray for good weather! JA Will be looking for ya.
I am hoping for a nice day. Right now Saturday could be a deluge (feel bad for the Morristown parade). Maybe some wet snow showers Satuday night and mainly cloudy Sunday with some breaks as the day goes on. That's how it looks now but i'm sure that will change.
Does anyone know if the town will be doing any concessions anywhere. It would have been nice to grab a beverage and hot dog or pretzel last year while enjoying a great parade.
Steve - See Christine's second post in this tread. Bergey will be out with the hot dog cart.
Steve Bergeys Belly Busters will be out by Sunrise Deli! BUT remember all local restaurants will be open also!
The 27th Regt New Jersey Co F of the 1st Irish Brigade will be escorting our dear President of our unwavering Union down Hackettstown's Main Street this coming Sunday....but alas! We won't be selling any Hot Dogs!
The worst of the rain will still be Friday and Saturday. There could definitely be some flooding issues. Sunday is better but i'm not totally convinced it will be rain-free. Right now i will say showers likely early and there is a chance the afternoon could be just mostly cloudy with a passing shower. That's about the best we can do right now. At least the parade isn't Saturday like in Morristown.
We will be skipping the parage in favor of the St. Paddy's Day party at Island Park. The band Leprechauns Gone Wild is playing. Not sure what that means, but it sounds like fun!
The parade is rain or shine!!
But no need to worry about weather it will rain Saturday and Sunday but right when the parade starts the sun will come out and shine upon us!! hehehehehehe
if it doesn't rain we hope to take all 3 babies but if it is raining i don't want to risk them getting sick! So if you see some lady with 3 under 2 and the youngest looks about 4 months thats me LOL
If its a steady rain Bergeys Belly Busters wont be out. I cant rish him getting sick. He is just starting to feel better.
As far as I know rain doesn't make you sick, germs do. Any health professional type people out there that can comment on this?
Calico - you are correct that the cold / rain / snow does not make you sick, germs do... however, there have been SOME studies that have shown that spending time in the cold/wet environment CAN reduce your ability to fight the germs that you may come in contact with.
Believe me, we have had this discussion in my household on more than one occasion and I searched for articles that would disprove the cold/sick connection. Unfortunately, I did find a study that proved it does reduce the ability to fight germs - so I no longer engage in the discussion at home... (I lost that round - lol)
With that said and Bergey's recent surgery and the age of the babies... I would not take the chance.
Just my thoughts.
Yes I know being the rain doesn't cause you to get sick but I don't want to take any chances especially since Brady has been in and out of the hospital 3 times besides birth! We just had another scare with his pyloric issues but all was fine! I will do anything to avoid another hospital stay!
Sooo true Calico but he still has open wounds and dont want dirty rain water on them!
I or we really dont need any more problems!
I hear you Christine. My post wasn't necessarily directed to anyone in particular. I thought that maybe there was one of those new studies out there claiming that "rain will be the death of you" LOL. Seems like everything will supposedly kill you these days.
Calico, I remember Grandma saying cant wash your hair if it rains! Never understood that one.
ianimal, secondhand anything. LOL!
Does this parade follow similar route as Memorial Day parade? I assume it does not go all the way to Cemetary though?! Thank you.
The Parade is on Main Street, starts a Grand Ave and go to the little street across from the Hess station.
And its Rain or Shine before someone asks that questions
