Rave about Katarina's

I just wanted to say that I went to Katarina for my Wedding dress and I had the most AMAZING experience! Katarina was incredibly sweet and the customer service was incredible! She even offered to come in and open her store on a Sunday (when they are closed) to accomodate me. I would highly reccommend her to anyone who is planning a wedding, prom, or special occasion. You will not be disappointed!!!!!!!

I also went to Katrina"s a few yrs ago - They had many dresses that I wanted and were beautiful however I did not order from them as something else came about! They should be commended as a great store ! I did go back for a purse!

I agree. They are simply amazing. My dtr. used them for her wedding, and she couldn't have been happier.

I also bought my wedding dress from Katarina's. Actually I bought 2. I bought the first one, then when I was going back to schedule alterations, etc. I found a dress I loved even more. So, I bought it. And as much as I loved Katarina (we even scheduled our honeymoom through their travel agency!), I was shocked, sad, and disappointed that she wouldn't take the first one I bought back. It wasn't like I went somewhere else and bought another dress...she still had a sale. I asked her several times about taking back the first dress (which had NOT been altered in ANY WAY), she absolutely wouldn't do it. So, after all these years I still have that first dress hanging in my guest room closet....never altered, and never worn.

Best of luck Bride2be!! enjoy this exciting time!!!

I thought that with all FORMAL dresses there was a no return policy...

Re: Rave about Katarina'sYeah there is, I see Katarinas point, but Saxton I see yours too. I had a good experience with them for my wedding. I didn't get my dress there (I was on a tighter budget, lol) but I got my cake topper. Swarovski crystal monogram, reasonably priced and looked awesome on my cake. :)

I understand about the "no return" policy on formal dresses. However, Katarina KNEW it hadn't been warn once then returned. I still gave her a sale, and the second dress I bought was more expensive. I even ordered shoes, etc. to match the new dress. It's a good thing a wedding is "once in a lifetime" because I wouldn't go back there. My needs for formal attire have been met elsewhere.

Yeah, but they order it for you in your size, it isn't like a store that keeps stock. If you return it to her, then she's stuck with a dress hoping someone happens to need that dress in that size. She probably can't return it to the manufacturer.

I bought it off the rack in her store. It wasn't a special ordered dress.

it seems as though no matter what reasons we come up with ImOnSaxton will still feel that an exception should have been made for her...

this is how small businesses run into trouble. they can't afford to bend the rules for someone and before you know it that person is giving the place negative publicity...

we all like to get "our way", but it's not always going to happen. That's life!

She is shifty when it comes to that. Try to return dead flowers the day after they are delivered. She is quite the rip off artist.

It seems like everyone keeps making excuses to saxton as to why she was wrong in trying to return the dress. It was not a special order, it was off the rack and was probably not taken home yet as it was not altered, this women dropped a lot of money in that shop for two dresses, shoes, honeymoon, alterations, and i would think being a wedding store and a florist that there were other things she did not mention that she purchased. would it have hurt to give her the dress she DID NOT want wholesale or take it back for a service charge. Was the second dress ever shown to her by the consultant when she originally went to purchase her dress? Why is the customer always WRONG on this forum

I used Katarina's for my wedding also. She is great and her staff is so nice. I got my dress and my bridemaid dresses from there and even the suits for the guys. Also we booked are honeymoon thought there. It was so easy we didn't have to run all over the place. And her prices are great also. I still go there to get flowers.

Best of luck Bride2be.

Mikeo, what is the point of having a policy (of which the customer is aware at the time of the sale) if you break it every time a customer throws a hissy fit?

I kind of agree with Mikeo. There are times that call for exceptions, and it sounds like this was one of those times. No, Katarina didn't have to take back the first dress, but it sure would have been good customer service given the circumstances.

Well, I can really see Imonsaxton's point here. I think it would have been a good business decision, regardless of policy. Katarina would have lost nothing if she took the dress back, b/c the store had already paid for it (it was already on the rack, and was not altered). The dress goes back on the rack, and no one loses a penny. By not taking it back, Katarina made a few bucks, but lost good will and gained a mediocre, qualified reference. Sounds like a short term gain, and long term loss. I'll have to admit, it has changed my perception of the store, and I just logged on to fritter away time on a snowy day!

MB All stores have policies, does that make .them right. As a customer do we not have the right to have some sort of policies that we can expect. Haven't you ever just wanted to reply to someone when they say thats not our policy ,"well that is MY policy of doing business with you.

I agree, I think, given the dress wasn't special ordered, that is just good business sense to take it back. Oh well, live and learn..

If you think a store has unfair policies, don't shop there! Plain and simple.

Gravatar for MB MB Message MB

I really don't understand how anyone can think that this policy is unfair. The poster bought a dress. She knew going in that there were no returns. For any reason. And then she wanted to return the dress, and was told no.

How exactly is that unfair? Unfair would be "You can return the dress if you change your mind." And then upon bringing it back you were told "Oops, we changed our mind. You can't return it anymore."

Sorry, folks. I think it was worth asking. But I don't think that Katarina's did anything at all wrong. They simply upheld what they told you.

Hmmm...Can we see who else like special treatment? Not 1, but 3 different posts as to why a store, with a known policy, is in the wrong. I'm guessing that if you used your one-liner there the store in question would tell you where you could shove YOUR policy, LMAO

It's easy...The next time you make a big purchase don't just shop around for the item you want, shop around for a store with a more flexible policy, or no policy at all. But good luck with that.

Let's just say it was a valuable lesson learned about Katarina's.

It also prompted me to spend my money elsewhere on flowers, wedding party attire, favors, etc., as well as any floral, travel, or formal attire needs in the future.

(and now I'll just sit back and wait to get bashed for that statement.....)

I commend you for that, ImonSaxton. You realized that the store policy was unacceptable for you, so you chose to shop elsewhere.

It's just the whole "publicly bashing a store for upholding a known policy" part that is distasteful.

I love Katarina', they did my flowers and delivered perfect and on time. I also bought special shoes at wedding strore in town and 2 days before wedding came in the wrong size but I ran to Kat's and found a great pair 1/4 of the price. Great people and I was a happy bride

lori Did i say that I wanted special treatment? Do not try to SHOVE words in my mouth. Yes !! I want the best deal I can get. WHO doesn't. There is no reason to write such a sarcastic and condesending post. Maybe your opinion and mine are not a GOOD FIT . I don't believe that the customer is always right, but a bad experience is not always the customers fault . That is not bashing,it is business. I enjoy the stores in hackettstown, but It is sad that some are so thin skinned that every comment that is not praising them is called bashing

mikeo,

One just has to read your posts to get the idea. I'm glad I no longer work in retail and have to deal with customers like you. I learned long ago that some people wouldn't be happy if you dropped dead trying to please them. I won't waste another keystroke on you...
