i saw the movie paranormal activity over the weekend and was very disappointed in it. i thought it was Terrible with a capital "T". I am very interested in this type of stuff but this movie just killed it for me..anyone else see it? what did you think?
i agree with you it was horrible
definatly not what its hyped up to be
I'm sorry to hear it didn't live up to the hype! If you want to hear a real ghost story, I could tell you about the experiences me and my 4 y/o son had at a wedding at the Shadowbrook on Friday!
There were 2 separate occurances. The first one, my husband and youngest daughter came downstairs with me so I could change my daughter's diaper and then use the ladies room myself. I changed my daughter and sent her back out to my hubby. I was washing my hands when I heard the sound of hard soled shoes on the marble floor behind me, as well as felt someone walk past. As I heard the shoes, I looked up and thought maybe I just missed seeing them go by. So I grabbed paper towels and peeked down the short hallway to where the stalls were. Nobody there and the doors didn't move. So I ran back out to my husband where he was waiting and asked him if anyone had just walked into the ladies room--he said no and I said I refused to use that bathroom for the rest of the night. He could tell by my face I was spooked but wouldn't let me ask the manager if there were ever any unusual occurances there!
The second happened in the upstairs bathroom! My two older children had to use the bathroom so I had my husband escort us upstairs. There was a large sitting area and then the bathroom stalls and sinks adjacent to the sitting room. My son finished and we were waiting for my daughter (and husband in the men's room) to finish putting herself together and wash her hands. All of a sudden, my son spun around looking over his shoulder and said "Hey! Where'd the little boy go?" I asked "What little boy?" and he said "The little boy that was just here!" There was absolutely no one else upstairs with us. I've had other things happen, but never in an unfamiliar place!
I took my daughter to see the movie Friday night after my DH saw it during the week. He said it was very scary. I dont like these type of movies but she really wanted to see it. I thought it was TERRBILE also!
OMG 2 cents thats nuts you shoudl call the hotel back and ask them, Your braver then i, i would have checked out. I am not one for scary movies or ghost things
* just realized its not a hotel i would have stayed in teh banquet hall and held it til i got home lol
Rebecka-that's so funny! The Shadowbrook is in Shrewsbury-it's so beautiful and the wedding was great, aside from wetting my pants, lol! The only information I got was that it was built in 1907 by a physician as his summer home and that its original acreage has dwindled in the last century! I wasn't allowed to ask anything else-thanks to hubby! But I am tempted to call and ask about any other "activity"!
2Cents: What an awesome story. Nothing like that has ever happened to me and I'm sorry but also a little glad. I totally believe in this stuff, though.
I have received subtle messages from people close to me who have died, however, and my DD has been "talking" to her dad since he died when she was 6 yrs old. And my best friend's little grandchildren still "see" their grandpa Ben since he died last year.
a co-worker brought in what must have been a bootleg copy and showed it to me
I asked him why is he showing me a very crappy youtube video ??
he informed me that it was an actual movie and that it is a big seller
go figure , it amazes me as to what passes for entertainment today
my guess is for a generation who value their endless barrage of meaningless & pointless text messages this movie in comparison would be entertaining.
My oldest daughter has always had a "connection" with the other side-her grandpa died just 4 days after she was born and she just seems to know him. She also saw my husband's uncle right after he died (but before we knew he had passed)-she was in our LR playing and then just reached up her hand saying either "I can't reach you" or "I want to touch you". I didn't hear her clearly b/c it happened so fast! Here's where you all call the guys with the butterfly nets on me....I recently saw a little blonde boy in my basement. It was as though I was being watched and I saw him out of the corner of my eye as I looked up and he turned to scamper away. My husband has a cousin who passed away at the age of five and my daughter has mentioned seeing him. I never asked what he looked like and as I was relating the basement and Shadowbrook story to my SIL, she told me the little cousin was exactly as I described him. So, who wants to meet up at my house for coffee?
"So, who wants to meet up at my house for coffee?" Me, for starters.
"They" say young children are still connected to the other side and can see those who have passed. I believe it.
I've heard of table tipping and always wanted to try. Some folks in college started talking and had some place over here in NJ they wanted to go. But it never actually happened. After the lantern tour, I think there are plenty of places around here. ;-)
I enjoyed the movie Paranormal Activity. I thought the ending was amazingly scary. I couldnt sleep for a few nights.
Great stories. I have to admit I believe in "the other side." I went to a John Edwards show and it was CRAZYYYY!! I definitely have a connection with my grandfather who passed away. He always seems to come back to me in my dreams. When I woke up one morning, I felt like I had just visited with him and I was CRYING. My dream is too long to type but the things that happened in my dream and some things I saw I wouldn't have known because they happened so long ago and I was too young to remember some of the things. It was very strange. In two different occurances my grandpa had given me messages to give to other family members. I always love having these dreams...I love still feeling connected to him.
"If you've ever heard of table tipping, email me." cbel
Do share Now I am curious
Seriously, we all need to meet. I'm retired, so I'm available anytime during the day. Evenings or weekends are OK as well. Let's do it soon. Panera's perhaps? I'd love to tell you about table-tipping from first-hand experience.
I'm in. I can usually arrange my schedule, just let me know ahead of time. Not a Panera fan, but what ever.
OK, we have two for sure. I suggested Panera because you can sit there forever and they never bother you. But anywhere is good for me. Let's make a plan.
2Cents: I'd rather not answer about table tipping on HL. People will think I'm nuts. Are you up for meeting with GC, H-town Mama and me -- and anyone else who's interested? Morning coffee? Lunch?
Absolutely! Count me in! If we're looking at next week I am free every a.m. but Wednesday and Friday! I'm looking forward to it!
If it's AM, then I can't do it on Mondays. Next week AM's are clear other than Monday and Friday.
I can't do Tuesday mornings and 2Cents can't do Wed. or Fri. So how about next Monday or Thursday? 10:00? 11:00? That way we can beat the lunch crowd.
Thurs works for me. I'd suggest 10:00 since I can see the conversation continuing on for some time... ;-)
OK then. Thursday, Nov, 12, at 10:00. So far it's 2Cents, H-town Mama, GC and me. And maybe Firefly?
If anyone else is interested, pls let us know. Or else, just show up.
I'll say "Boo!" to everyone who walks in! If someone looks at me funny, I'll know they're not part of the ghost group!
Wait a sec... are you going to actually attempt table-tipping at Panera? Or are you just going to be talking about that and other paranormal experiences ... ? I won't be going but I was just curious. Humor me.
No table tipping. Too weird for Panera.
I will be waiting outside, probably with GC and hopefully Firefly. Look for me with my black cane. Can't wait!
I cant go but I have been reading up on it. Below is a good explanation!
I thought i might be able to come and im pissed that i will have to miss this, but i have a last minute dr. appt. i would love to know how it turns out
Table Tipping...........usually 15 - 20% of the bill depending on quality of service! No Respectful Ghost should give less!
Ha ha, John C! Had a great time with the "Ghost group" today! Let's keep each other up to date on any spooktacular happenings! Hee, hee- I coudn't resist!
Headed out next week to extreemly haunted Gettysburg Pa. Won't tip any tables though.....wouldn't wish to spill my beer!
It's my understanding that even for respectful ghosts, 15-20% is too much. Unless it's ghouls night out, of course!
Apparently I missed this thread myself and I was free yesterday morning... what the heck is "table tipping" lol "cow tipping..." I am so lost... I am just learning paranormal language!!!
The picture is of the Cashtown Inn here in Gettysburg Pa, from our season four of Ghosthunters. We're Baaaacccckkkk!!!!!!
