shades of death rd.
I was on weird nj. reading the shades of death page and they made mention of the "dark moon bar" I once lived on shades and have some old friends who grew up on it. I never heard of the dark moon bar.anybody know where or what it is or was. from what the article says shades goes right past it. was it someplace from way back?

Dark Moon Tavern used to be on 519 right near that road. The place is still there but might be closed down now. It was opened as recently as about a year ago.
It is the old Big K. It reopened about 2 years ago as the Dark Moon Tavern. It is not open anymore.
kariboberry You definitely past a bar pretty close to Shades ... it's right before you get to Shades coming from 46 by the church.

cbgpzb The Big K was the Big K for years and year and years. Same family owned it for years. Sold it around 2005 and the new owners ran it into the ground shortly thereafter.
It was, however, never refered to as the dark moon until the new owners took over.
btownguy the dark moon tavern is nothing but an abandoned foundation...off of rt 519...the big K was renamed Dark Moon tavern...and neither the old or new dark moon tavern is anywhere near the Shades...there was never a tavern on or near the shades...the closest would be the now closed Pep and Walts ...or Ron and Georges...that has since been renamed...of course that did not stop anyone from drinking out on the shades but thats another story...
oldmanif you have comcast go ondemand on then to free movies and then fear net they have the world scaryiest roads and shades of death is on it. theres like a 3 minutes video
