Lucky you!

I have been feeling lately like all we are focused on is the negative. I certainly have a lot of junk going on in my life, but if I stop and think about it I am also really lucky. For instance, I may not make much money, but I am employed. My home may be really tiny, but we can afford the payments and it's cute and cozy. I may be a little over weight, but at least I am well fed. My husband may get on my nerves sometimes, but he really is the love of my life. In short I feel really really lucky. How about you guys? What do you feel lucky about lately?

Feel the same way. I was sad that I had to go through 2 biopsies but the end result is that everything is ok:) Even when things look the worst and there doesn't seem to be a light at the end of the tunnel, there will be. I'm happy my little guy is happy and healthy.

Every day when I work another 14-16 hour day at the office, I thank God that I have an office to go to. When I get annoyed with my family, I am thankful that I have been blessed with 2 wonderful children.

Well said, Sandy. It is so important to think of the blessings. We all get too caught up with the negative, it is vital to take a step back.

Thanks for this - great thread! Especially when I am stuck at the office working on end of month/quarter closing! (Thank you God for my job)

Fantastic thread, Sandy. I am so tired of negative and selfish people. It seems the norm nowadays for people to worry only of themselves and not those around them.

When you step back and look at the big picture, you realize that the most important things are the relationships we have. It's amazing how love and support from family and friends can help you get through the obstacles in life that we all face. THAT is lucky.

It's so nice to know that there are people like you who are not only thankful, but thoughtful and want to share it. Thank-YOU.

Remember, life is an ongoing project!

Ditto to everything that has been said. We really do need to focus more on the positives in our lives rather than dwell on the negatives. But since we are all human, it's easier said than done. We just have to remember the old adage about the man who complained about having no shoes, until he saw another man with no feet.

My grandmother used to say that any day she woke up and could put two feet on the floor was a good day.

My kids are healthy, my husband is employed, so am I.....we have loving family and friends......

A good friend just had serious surgery this week - completely unexpected - she is 43 years old - really kind of puts the annoying stuff into proper perspective.

On top of that I am blessed to have a wonderful husband who adores me, a healthy & happy son who tells me I'm the best Mommy in the world, and my 2 kitties and my crazy pup who need me.

My husband and I are both employed. I absolutely love my job. We have a roof over our head, monthly payments are do-able, we have food in the fridge, two cars to get us around.

I could go on and on...

I am lucky and ridiculously thankful for my oldest daughter, who on July 25th will have her 2 year anniversary of a kidney transplant. 2 years ago she was a sick 17month old, and received my kidney....now she is the picture of health, and a true miracle.....I am lucky to have her, and lucky for the health and success she has had.

I am currently unemployed and that is what brought me to this town, but i can truely say im lucky for it. I've been able to live with my wonderful sister and her boyfriend and have been granted the time i need to transition. I went from a more hectic city life in philadelphia to now, for the first time in my life, reading for pleasure and doing it amungst beautiful settings like Stephens park. I've been able to learn to look and find the little things in life that make me happy. Being with my family and true friends, cookies (and almost all other forms of dessert), and walking slow enough to notice that i had been going way to fast previously.

p.s.- i also got a chance to dance in the rain last night at the black potatoe festival in clinton and if you have never done that or done it recently, i highly recomend you do it! It's cleansing in more ways than one ;)

I like to thank people for excellant service, who are not normally thanked. I ordered something from JCPenneys and the phone sales rep was so helpful, really went out of her way. In addition to thanking her, I asked to speak to her supervisor and let her know how much I appreciated this "pleasant and very helpful women".

I like to take the time to thank people who are normally over looked. Also small everday good deeds, helping an older person in the grocery store reach something on a high shelf, carrying something out of Dunkin Donuts for a Mom who has her hands full. If everyone started doing nice things for others the world would be so much more pleasant. Most people are very surprised when I do my little helpful deeds, it makes them feel good and myself too! Try it and pass it on!

I try to do 3 nice things a day for a complete stranger, standing in a checkout isle, let the person go ahead of me, let people out into traffic, just to name a couple. It always makes me feel good to help others. I myself have a great life, I am so blessed for all. So remember always to smile, and be kind to others you never know how it will help someone else who might have alot of troubles.

chrisb, it is pretty cool how a little thing can mean so much to someone.

Here's a little story - My son and I slept over at the Franklin Institute, with the cub scouts. My son couldn't sleep, so we pretty much spent the night wandering the place by ourselves. The only other people awake were the security guards. My son and I decided to find all of the "souveneir penny" machines - you know, the ones that flatten your penny and put a design on it. Well, we were making a flattened penny on one of the machines and one of the guards, a 60-ish yr old lady, walked by us.

I thought she looked pretty glum, so I asked her, half jokingly, if she wanted me to make her a penny. She walked up and it looked like she never really looked at those souvenier machines before and was fascinated. I had her pick a design and had her turn the crank. When the penny came out, I gave it to her and she looked so happy. For the rest of the night, when we saw her she was smiling. I think it was a great lesson for my son to see how you can positively affect someone, even though it was something as small as spending 51 cents.

You're not that bad with names cbel since it's definitely Jeff. (the G/J thing there so I have a reason to remember) Not just good story, *great* story.

PS. I got a check today when I expected a bill - seems an insurance company's audit of our coverage found a credit instead of an under billing. It's not the most earth shattering bit of luck, but I'll take it. ;-)

Bottom line here is you attract positive people and circumstances in your life by feeling grateful and also LUCKY! It's Law of attraction you attract that which you focus on the more grateful you are the more the universe will bring you things to be grateful about. If you complain incessently,, you will get more to complain about. It's a beautiful thing. Example, drug addicts will always find a way to get drugs and find people who are on drugs. Birds of a feather....so if you want to change your life, change your thoughts and just see what happens, change the people you hang out with, etc. Life is amazing!

I have a story to tell myself, and I swear this really happened.

About 11 years ago, my daughter was in a wedding in VA. on our way back home we stopped in Baltimore Md. my daughter had a fascination with Dolphins at the time, so we decided to go to the aquariumn there. It was early and it wasn't opened yet so we walked around for awhile. On our way back to the aqua. my husband realized he forgot his camera in the last place we stopped. So I said I'll meet you over there. As we made our way in the front of the aqua. there was a homeless man standing off to the side. I remember to this day what he was wearing and how what he looked like. About 5'9 not thin, not fat. wearing old shoes stuffed with newspaper, a flannel shirt, blue jeans, and a torn wool blanket around his shoulders. As we walked past him, he caught my eye, he had the bluest eyes I have ever seen. His eyes caught mine and it was like he left a imprint on my heart, I continued to walk past him, got around 10 feet and decided to go back to give him $5.00 so he could eat that day. I put my daughter in a visible spot so I could see her, and walked back to him. I gave him the money in the palm of his hand and told him, not to use it for drugs or alochol. He swore to me he wouldn't and gave me a thank you in almost a whisper. I walked on a turned 3 feet at the most and he was gone. I looked around for him after collecting my daughter and it was like he was never there. Needless to say there was no place to hide water and aqua. infront of us, with benches around. It bothered me so much about him, that on Monday morning I called the aqua. I spoke to a woman who had worked there 26 years. She told me she knew all the homeless people there, and there was no such person. So what was he? I will never know. Maybe a Angel?? who knows, but he was put there for some reason. You all can draw your own conclusion think what you want, but you see you never know when God will be testing you, and I believe that day was one of my tests about caring and kindness to others.

What a great story,, I believe that things happen for a reason and Angels well I have an Angel in glass that I carry with me all the time. When friends are having a bad time or seem to need extra help I give them the Angel to carry. The angel has been to Europe and is in Denver right now but she'll be back tomorrow. My friends believe it really helps and will ask to have her sometimes...Is she really special I don't know but she does give out positive vibes when it 's needed and I don't question it I'm glad I have it....

Awesome!! My story is a little different in that I am referring to my "guardian angel". Long story short, I was driving home from college with my friend, as we did each weekend(1969 - seat belts not required) - suddenly I said put your seat belt on (as I put mine on), she said "what for?" I said I don't know, just please put it on. About one or two minutes later we were hit head-on by a drunk driver, spun around, flew through the air and hit the tire of a huge, parked semi in the parking loit next to the highway. If we didn't have our belts on, we would certainly have been dead. My friend had a bruised foot and I had back surgery! Talk about lucky!!
Intuition? Guardian angel? sixth sense? I like to think it is my angel. I and my mother have had many of this type of occurance - creeps my husband (and friend) out!!!
Any other lucky people out there?
