Best Fireworks?OK, so anybody going to check out the fireworks "locally"? Who's going where for the 4th? What town do you go to? Do you drive a while to catch a better show? Or do you just plan to lite a couple in the back yard, with a lighter in one hand and a drink in the other? I do that latter!! (NOT!) :) I enjoy the fireworks at county college of morris.. there are some good ones in blairstown i hear.. bang bang! darlugh Jun 25, 09 1:29 pm Good ones in Blairstown? So who's fireworks have I been watching all these years? I must have always been looking in the wrong direction because the ones I see stink! Blairstown's fireworks are like their parades...s-l-o-w. Fireworks should be quick. I like to ooooh & ahhh in rapid succesion, not once every 2 to 3 minutes (fireworks people...still talking about fireworks). Lori...since '73 Jun 25, 09 1:51 pm Lori, We did the Disney thing on the 4th of July and it is awesome. Wherever you turn there is fireworks! Just be aware of the crowds. It is THE busiest time of year to be there. Lori - Get to the park early on the 4th or find a place outside the park to watch. We went July 4th week a few years ago and when we went to the Magic Kingdom at 10:30 am it was full to capacity and we were denied entrance. Turned out ok because we spent the day at Disney Boardwalk (the ESPN Bar in particular) and got an awesome show from there come sunset. IceWater Jun 25, 09 2:52 pm Lori: I never saw the ones in Blairstown, but i know plenty of peeps haul it over yonder to watch them.. :) Doesnt disney have fireworks almost every night?? or just weekends? Have a great time!! darlugh Jun 25, 09 4:02 pm Easton, PA has a good show at their Heritage Day Festival... they launch the fireworks from near the confluence of the Lehigh and Delaware Rivers. When I lived over in Pine Brook when I first moved to NJ, I went to Montville. They blow the rest of that area out of the water - I'm not sure of the relationship but they have some kind of connection to Grucci. In August the ones at the Augusta Farm & Horse show are awesome Begin Again Finnigan Jun 26, 09 8:15 am When I was a kid I remember my parents taking me to Montgomery for fireworks and they were always pretty good. They still have them at the Montgomery High School on the 4th. Blairstown? I am with Lori, where are these? I went to them many times and they weren't good. The ones at Meadowlands Fair (giants stadium) are awesome. Oh man I love the disney world ones too! when we were kids they had great fireworks shows in netcong, but then I was maybe 8or9 last time Iwent.maybe they just seemed to be great.memories can fool ya! Assumption & St. Cessario (spelling??) in Netcong were very good. Not sure if either are still blasting. deansangie Jun 26, 09 10:39 am Tracy - the reason some places have fireworks in June is because of the cost. Since everyone wants their fireworks on July 4 the price goes up. It's a simple case of supply and demand. I know the reason, BLD. It's more than the cost too, I believe. There are only so many fireworks companies and they can't all be on the same night. I was just saying, I prefer 4th of July fireworks on the fourth of July.. deansangie: Rockaway Boro has some pretty good fireworks. This year they are on the 18th of July Mickey Jun 26, 09 9:33 pm I almost forgot Musikfest in Bethlehem... great band lineup this year (CSN... there's a band for you young bucks, I'm almost 40, I've still never seen Crosby, Stills and Nash...) . Hopefully, this year... Lake Hopatcong has fireworks sponcered by the Yacht Club. I usually watch from the water on my boat. The last time we went out they were the best ones to date. Dave266 Jun 26, 09 10:36 pm Another vote for the Netcong fireworks- there used to be fireworks in July and then another in August. I believe they only do them once a summer now- and sorry but can't remember which month..... There are signs up along 46 in Netcong a week or so before usually. anonymous Jun 28, 09 10:26 pm I liked the Long Valley ones on Sat. Schedule from the Daily Record. Morris County of course, but better than nothing. Andrew's mom Jul 1, 09 8:25 pm Netcong fireworks are usually in july and august and i havent found any display better ive been going every year since i was 2... They hold them at the baseball field with rides and a beer garden. Htownmama Jul 1, 09 10:44 pm There is nothing like the NYC fireworks the best anywhere by far & so worth the trip to the NJ waterfront. This year is to be the largest since the 1976 op sail as the Macy's fireworks will be in the Hudson River not the East River so NJ waterfront Liberty State Park lower Jersey City , Hoboken & Weehawken WILL be the place to be. We'll be there, but don't drive into JC it takes hours to get in & out drive to Harrison NJ & take the PATH train to Exchange Place stop & you are THERE!! See ya in JC. If you have never seen them there you must do it! The Feast of St. Ceasario honoring the patron saint of Necong's Italian population will be on July 18, 2009. Mass is at St. Michael's RC Church at 10 AM; followed by a parade through the streets in which the flag of the Saint is carried through the streets. Italian famlies bid on who gets to carry the flag; higest bidding family wins the honor; proceeds go to the church along with any funds pinned onto the Saint's picture on the flag. In the afternoon, at Arbolino Park, near the lake is the big celebration of food and fireworks at 10 PM ending before Sunday morning. Best fireworks in the area. Get there early, parking is limited. Food is outstanding. Home made sausage from the pork store. Did I forget to mention the 50 50 raffle: Don't forget to buy tickets for the 50 50 raffle at St. Ceasario's fireworks; the prize is $5,000.00. This year will be 107 years that the Netcong Italians have been celebrating the St. Ceasario Festival. It just seems to continue on down through the generations. If I may, I have one request; Can you guys stop about 9:30. The kids need to go to bed around that time. Calico696 If I may, I have one request; Can you guys stop about 9:30. Anyone know the start time for Blairstown Fireworks and NOrth Warren tonight? justme Jul 4, 09 5:24 pm Went to the fireworks in Blairstown tonight...Terrific time....it was nice to watch the other 2 fireworks shows going on just over the ridge of the mountain too!...What a gorgeous night ! justme Jul 4, 09 11:40 pm Who needs Fireworks on the Fourth of July...I get to watch them everyday, right here over the dumbest of things, LOL. Most exciting part is watching the same people make the same points (or sometimes different points just to flame it further) everyday, LOL. Bessie Jul 5, 09 11:41 am blairstown fireworks were way to slow... and to short. traffic was not worth sitting in for that petty show. whatever Jul 5, 09 11:46 am Ok everyone who loves fireworks. The Mt Arlington fireworks are tonight at the yacht club on Lake Hopatcong. Not sure where to go to watch them though. Just thought I'd let ya's know. Oh and I can't wait for St. Ceasario. Nothing like a day of eating real Italian food, made by real Italians. Another grat festival if anyone is interested and doesn't mind driving to NYC. The San Gennaro Festival. It will be Thursday Sept 10 - Sunday Sept 20. Amazing time. Just remember there, If you want the best Italian food, look at who's cooking it. ; ) Mount Olive has their fireworks on the 19th at the end of their carnival week. The show has been pretty good in years past and they have shuttle service Sorry the fireworks in Mount Olive are Saturday the 18th. Sunday is the rain date.
