The House of the Good Shepherd
Five Episcopal Congregations in the Oranges founded The House of the Good Shepherd in 1882. A 20-room rental home launched our humble beginnings. By 1890, a new home was built on Henry Street and housed 36 women until the 1960's. In 1966, we purchased a wooded, 15-acre site which afforded us room to grow. Located in Hackettstown, bordered by the Musconetcong River and Stephens State Park, our retirement community inspires a natural serenity.
